Niels Hvass and Christina Strand are accomplished designers with a multitude of commercial successes and experimental projects in their portfolio. They are both graduates from the Royal Danish Art Academy School of Architecture, Design and Preservation and have won countless awards in Denmark as well as internationally. 14 BDANISH QUALITY AND TRADITIONAL BUTTERFLY CRAFTSMANSHIP > DESIGN BY NIELS GAMMELGAARD The Butterfly Chair is an elegant wooden chair in the Nordic design tradition with a laminated wooden shell and a wooden base from Nordic wood types oak, beech and maple as well as colored and black- stained oak. The Butterfly Chair offers a high degree of seating comfort due to lumbar support and flexibility in the back. It is a light but yet distinctive design both as an all wood shell chair as well as with upholstery. 27

The design of the chair is light and yet prominent with full upholstery, moulded shell and slim steel legs. Offers a built-in device for steepless adjustment of the back of the chair with a unique seating and resting comfort, adaptable for all users.
