Each year we manufacture more than 26,000 coffins and supply over 110,000 timber products used in family funerals across the UK. We are continually adding to our selection of quality coffins and caskets, which range from simple to high-build caskets. We are proud that over 95 per cent of our coffins can be Forest Stewardship Council (FSC ) certified. In fact, we are currently the only company to manufacture FSC certified coffins and coffin sets. 4 About us We are a family business, founded in 1979 by Dawn Halliday and today run by her three sons, Stephen, Richard and Philip. We have grown considerably over the years and continue to do so, with a commitment to investing in our people, machinery, factory and the environment. We have a deep and rich understanding of our market, but we are also a modern, innovative business responsive to change and look to take a lead in seizing opportunities to meet the requirements of today s and tomorrow s customers. Today, we employ more than 30 people, many of whom are skilled craftsmen who have been with our company for over 20 years. We can provide everything a Funeral Director needs a comprehensive range of coffins as well as all fittings and accessories. If we do not stock what a customer wants, we will do our best to find it for them. Our company values are that we are flexible, ethical and trusted. 5 Ethical As an FSC certified company, we recognise that our future success as a coffin manufacturing company depends on the continued availability of timber from the forests of the world. We are fully committed to recycling processes and of insisting that where felling does take place replanting is undertaken to ensure the continuity of raw materials. Many of our suppliers already have a Chain of Custody Certificate from recognised bodies and are subsequently FSC certified. Halliday FS will continue to exert its influence with its suppliers to ensure that all of the selected materials can be traced back to wood from responsibly managed forests. Flexible We pride ourselves on tailoring every single coffin we make to the individual specification of the Funeral Director who has ordered it and at competitive prices. Our customer service team is dedicated to understanding the differing priorities and needs of each client, in order to deliver the best possible standard of service, every time. Our team has the capability to react immediately to urgent situations and manufacture special order coffins to a customer s individual specification at short notice. As an established distributor of coffins we deliver nationwide, including London, Glasgow and the Isle of Man. We are one of the few companies which can deliver almost any coffin in 48 hours. Natural Wool The kiln dried timber is assembled by hand and the natural wool textiles fitted to form a completely covered coffin including the underneath for comfort handling. No polish or chemical lacquers are used in the timber assembly of the product. The base is suitable for cremation or burial. 8

17 The Woodland Trust Collection We are delighted to be supporting the Woodland Trust in the work it does, planting more trees, protecting centuries-old trees and restoring woodland so that native trees can grow and thrive. Our Woodland Trust Collection can be made in natural unpolished solid wood, high quality weave willow or sustainably sourced FSC boards. All are suitable for woodland burials*. Designed to reduce the carbon footprint of a standard coffin, with higher recycled content, reduced energy consumption and reduced material usage. These coffins are an ideal alternative to cardboard. Please see page 24 for size restrictions. * While the coffins are suitable for woodland burials, the Woodland Trust does not have the provision for burials at its sites. 20 The Last Supper Collection Our Last Supper Collection can be made in either veneer or solid wood and is available in four Antique stains - Walnut, Yew, Golden Oak or Mahogany. Each coffin is treble moulded, with a double raised lid and a high build finish. Last Supper caskets are also available. 18

In the Christian Gospels, the Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Twelve Apostles and Disciples before his Crucifixion. The Last Supper is commemorated by Christians especially on Maundy Thursday. The Last Supper provides the scriptural basis for the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion. 22 The Knock Apparition Pictured with side panels and Antique Yew Stain. Knock is a town in County Mayo in Ireland. On 21st August 1879, it is reported that Our Lady, St. Joseph and St John the Evangelist appeared to local people at the parish church. Our Lady is pictured centrally in prayer with a lamb, representing the Lamb of God at Her feet. St. Joseph is to Her right and St. John the Evangelist to Her left. 23 The Lourdes Apparition Pictured with side panels, Head of Madonna ends and Antique Mahogany Stain. Lourdes is a small French town in the foothills of the Pyrenees where Our Lady is reported to have appeared to Bernadette Soubirous a total of eighteen times, between 11th February and 16th July These are known as the Marian Apparitions. Today 5,000,000 pilgrims visit Lourdes annually, many to bathe in the waters of a spring that Our Lady revealed to Bernadette. Please see page 23 for different colours. 21

24 The Foot of the Cross Pictured with side panels and Antique Walnut Stain. The gospel according to John describes those present at the Foot of the Cross of Jesus as being His Mother, Her Sister who was also named Mary, Mary Magdalene and the Beloved Disciple, which is commonly held to be John. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke report that women looked from afar off. Please see page 23 for different colours. 22

26 Restrictions on Sizes Due to the availability and dimensions of raw material, it is not possible to manufacture every style of coffin in every size. Although we will always be happy to advise you, the following may be used for guidance. Oak Veneer Oak veneer shouldered coffins are available in a maximum of 7 7 x 34 x 20. Coffins larger than this may be available with straight, parallel sizes. Mahogany Veneer Mahogany coffins are available up to 6 8 x 28 x 18. Elm Veneer and Foil Elm veneer and foil coffins are available up to a maximum of 6 8 x 24 x 14. Solid Oak and Mahogany Solid hardwood coffins are available up to 7 7 x 34 x 20. Solid Spruce and Pine Solid softwood coffins are available up to a maximum of 6 4 x 24 x 14. Panelled Coffins - All Materials Coffins with Pressed or Routered Panels available in lengths from Maximum depth available on coffins from in length is 12. Maximum depth available on coffins from in length is 14. Last Supper Coffins Coffins shorter than 6 0 will not have a Routered panel around their handles. Coffins with Crown of Thorns or head of the Madonna decorative ends must be a minimum of 20 wide at the shoulder. Woodland Coffins Due to the strength of the materials, the Sherwood is available up to 6 2 x 21 x 12. Delamere and Oakley coffins are available up to 6 4 x 24 x 14. Adult willow (wicker) coffins are available, in oval and traditional shapes, in the following sizes 5 8 x 21, 6 0 x 22, 6 2 x 23 and 6 4 x 24. Outsizes Coffins measuring above 6 2 in length, or 22 wide at shoulder, or 14 in depth may attract a surcharge. Extra width at head or foot may also be available and subject to an outsize charge. Halliday Funeral Supplies Ltd use digitally-programmed precision cutting equipment to produce the components of each coffin with millimetre accuracy, offering the highest standard of finish, in the fastest time possible. We are fully committed to recycling first then ensuring that re-planting is undertaken wherever felling takes place, to guarantee the continuity of our raw materials, as well as for the enjoyment of future generations. Each year, we have to show that we continue to comply with the rigorous FSC standards, undergoing an annual audit of our practices.
