Any setup outside of the space parameters, must be requested prior to the show and if accepted, will incur an additional $20 fee, payable in cash at the show. Not all spaces can accomodate additional space. 3 Page 1 of 3 Crafter Guidelines ARCHBISHOP WOOD CRAFT SHOWS CRAFTER GUIDELINES It is the intention of these craft shows to serve as an outlet for the multitude of talents bestowed upon many individuals. It is our desire to showcase those whose creativity and ambitions compel them to produce beautiful items for others to enjoy. To this end, we have compiled these guidelines to serve as a means to measure these crafts against the mass production goods marketed as handmade. We have found that in the past several years, we have strayed from these guidelines. The Craft Show Committee of current and former members have decided to embrace those principles that have made the Archbishop Wood Craft Show one of the best in our area. Having said that, please read the guidelines carefully as they will be enforced whether you are a new vendor or have been a vendor with us for many years. PHOTOGRAPHS REQUIRED FOR NEW VENDORS All crafters (unless you participated in the Fall 2013 or later show) in the Archbishop Wood Craft Shows must submit a full series of photographs to be approved by the Craft Show Committee. These photos must document the premise that the crafter is, in fact, hand making the items for sale. The photos (a maximum of 8) must be in color and either mailed with the application or ed. (If ed, include name of crafter as it appears on the application along with the word "photo" in the Subject line of the ). The photos must show the process by which the craft is made, in various stages of production; the materials and equipment used to produce said items; the work area in which it is made; a picture of the crafter and any associates assisting in creating said crafts. Failure to show all these items can result in a rejection of application. All photos become the property of the Archbishop Wood Craft Show Committee and will be maintained in a photo file strictly for the purpose of documentation. All items being sold during the show, must be shown in the photo, if not you will be asked to remove them. If photos on file fail to refute the question of being hand made, the burden of proof rests with the crafter and said items must be removed from the building. Failure to cooperate will result in elimination from Show mailing lists. NON-INCLUSIVE GUIDELINES Please refer to the following non-inclusive guidelines for guidance on determining if your crafts can meet the specifications outlined herein. 1. Crafts are to be hand made by the craft show participant or close associate as shown in the photos. 2. The burden of proof rests with the crafter. If the Craft Show Committee is not satisfied with said proof, the decision of the Committee will be final and crafter will be required to remove said items from the building and/or vacate without refund. 3. A major percentage of each item s components must reflect the talent and handicraft of the crafter even though parts of the item may be commercially made. For example, a floral crafter may not make the containers they use, but the talent of the floral arranging is evident. Any commercially made items, such as bracelets, keychains, magnets which are sold in small volume to supplement income are not allowed. 4. Listed below are examples but NOT an all inclusive list of items we do not deem acceptable as handicrafts. We realize there is a fine line here we are attempting to walk. We hope to

4 Page 2 of 3 eliminate the most blatant violations with the help of other crafters alerting us to those whose items are questionable. We promise to do our best to maintain these standards. Kits: Items made from pre-purchased kits do not constitute a hand craft because you assemble it. Items available through catalogs that are country or craft type in appearance but have not been made by the crafter OR items that are available for use in resale in various wholesale shows are not acceptable. Examples of such catalogs are Tender Heart Treasures, Armchair Shopper, Terry s Village, Oriental Trading, Country Sampler, etc. Franchised items widely available in commercial establishments, e.g., Boyd s Bears and clothing, Little Souls Dolls, Cat s Meow Villages, Beanie Babies, Yankee Candles, Colonial Candles and similar types, hair decorations and accessories not hand made such as butterfly clips and scrunchies. Franchised sellers of such items as Princess House, Home Interiors, Mary Kay, Longaberger, Pampered Chef, etc. are not allowed. Accessories: While hand made doll clothing is acceptable, commercially made accessory items are not, e.g., doll shoes, jewelry, socks. Food to accompany hand made containers is not acceptable unless it is also hand made by the crafter and proof is provided as such. Furniture: Any furniture that is available from suppliers catalogs for commercial resale is not acceptable. If you intend to sell it, you must be able to prove you made it. Food Items: Fancy candies, breads, oils, vinegars are acceptable as long as there is proof of your making. We assume NO responsibility for health department standards. Dolls: Hand made is the key quality. Various mop dolls, Vac Cover dolls, Lizzie High, Time-out kids and other collectible types available in stores are not acceptable. Jewelry: On premise assembly and design is an adequate proof of the handiwork. Selling of loose stones, rings, chains not appearing handmade is questionable and will be challenged. Clothing: Items commercially available must be significantly altered to qualify as a hand craft, eg., hand painting, silk screening, appliqué and enhancement. Ceramics and terra cotta: Photos will be required of workshop areas, molds, etc. Ornaments and decorations: Decals applied to commercial glass balls, ceramic tiles and other items are not acceptable. Hand painted balls most likely are. Pictures: Framed pictures must exhibit the handicraft, e.g., scherenschnitte, original calligraphy, pressed flowers or be the original photographs/paintings/sketches done by the crafter themselves. Gift Baskets: Baskets or boxes filled with non-crafted, commercial items and covered with clear plastic are not considered handmade. Example, a gift basket filled with mass produced candy, toys, books, music, etc. is not a handmade item. Digital Items: Items such as buttons with photographs or sayings on them, or calendars with photographs in them are not considered hand crafted. Items made on a computer will be determined on a

Miscellaneous: Slates must be original and hand painted Stained Glass must be original Fabric Crafts created and sewn by crafter Floral original designs and creations, no kits Baskets original, handmade by crafter, e.g. Longaberger baskets are not acceptable. Wrought Iron pieces must be forged/welded/fired and finished by the crafter. Work area evidence is a must. PLEASE NOTE: We will challenge any crafter brought to our attention with good cause. If challenged and unable to prove quality and authorship to our satisfaction, there will be no allowance for seniority in the show, who you know or other politics. The decision of the Craft Show Committee is final. 6 Page 1 of 2 Fall 2016 Crafter Information We are pleased to announce that Archbishop Wood s Annual Fall Craft Show will be held: Friday November 18, 2016 from 6:30-9:30 PM and Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 10 AM TO 3 PM Setup on Friday November 18 at 4:00 PM The Fall Show will be held in Hallways, Student Center, Lobby, Cafeteria, North Gym and South Gym The fee for the show is $95.00 per 8x5ft. space or 10x4ft Hallway table/space. As in past shows, table/space reservations and assignments will be made strictly based on the order in which the applications and checks are received via US Mail. You may specify a preferred space assignment, and whether you would like a wall or end space or if you need electric. PLEASE BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE AS TO YOUR PARTICULAR LOCATION REQUIREMENTS. DO NOT SAY SAME SPACE AS LAST YEAR OR USUAL SPACE. Room Maps are located under the "School Layout/Map" tab on this website. Table/space reservations and assignments will be made strictly based on the order in which the applications and checks are received via US Mail. Any specific location requests, and especially for those requesting electric service, will be filled in order of receipt. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but because of our first-come/first-served policy, there is NO GUARANTEE that your specific location request will be honored. Expansion of your space beyond the 8 x 5 ft. OR 10 X 4 ft in Hallway must be approved prior to the show. AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $20.00 WILL BE CHARGED PAYABLE AT THE SHOW. THE CRAFT SHOW COMMITTEE WILL BE THE FINAL JUDGE AS TO WHETHER THE DISPLAY SIZE MAY BE EXPANDED OR NOT. Since this will not be possible in all spaces, we reserve the right to deny use of any display that exceeds the allotted space, poses a danger to shoppers or other crafters, extends into walkways, or takes away from another vendor s space. WE WILL ONLY ALLOW A LIMITED NUMBER OF CRAFTERS TO RESERVE TWO SPACES. Please submit separate checks for each space. In the event your application is not received in time to place you in two spaces, one check will be returned to you, and one space will be assigned unless you indicate your wishes otherwise. Please reply by mail using the enclosed application form by October 15, No hand delivered applications will be accepted. We must receive your application, check or money order and photos to be assigned a space in the show. You will receive an confirmation if you provide an address. We must have your required pictures in order to accept you into the show, even if you have been a vendor at our show in previous years. All vendors who participated in any show after and including the Fall 2013 and who submitted their photos for these shows have pictures on file. All other vendors must submit new photos, no matter how many shows you may have participated in prior to Fall Thanks in advance for complying with this requirement. **************************************************************************************************************************** Please read carefully the Crafter Guidelines on this website regarding our policy concerning the quality and nature of handmade crafts. The enforcement of these guidelines will apply to ALL CRAFTERS as best we can in the time and resources available to us. We can either or mail your information packet to you in October. If you want it mailed, please include a self-addressed, STAMPED BUSINESS ENVELOPE (4 x 9.5 ) so that we can send your information packet regarding set-up, location, parking, etc. If you must cancel after your registration has been sent, your money will be refunded minus a $10.00 service fee per space. Any cancellations one week prior to or no-shows on the day of the Craft Fair will not be refunded. If you cannot attend this year s show or want to be removed from the mailing list, we would appreciate an RSVP to that effect to help with our record keeping.
