4 Special Studies These solutions compile information for decision-making, considering information gathering, analysis of the situation, proposal of alternatives, and problem solution. They include: Analysis of FEL methodology based options Business cases are identified and the analyses required for investment projects, and also for the visualization, conceptualization and definition stages. Technical feasibility Multidisciplinary solutions, using mathematical models to analyze solution options, especially those directed to modifications and changes during the facility operation stages. Reliability Verification of the function of productive systems, within the limits of design and operation, meeting the quality, quantity, and timeliness required. These solutions are based on the determination of the probability of component failure, equipment, processes, and systems design, studying the historical frequency of occurrence. Actions may be integrated into inspection or maintenance programs. Geotechnical characterization of deep water sites Technological support is provided to characterize deep water site soils, taking into account the characteristics of the site and the type of infrastructure to be developed, including the interpretation of the exploration seismics, geo-risk assessment, and definition of soil properties to design the foundations. Probabilistic characterization of metocean variables for offshore facilities Generation of metocean parameters for the selection, assessment, and operation of fixed platforms, marine pipelines, floating systems, and submarine systems for hydrocarbon production. Development of metocean design criteria for floating production, storage and offloading systems Development of structural design criteria that responds to the meteorological and oceanographic conditions in the exploitation regions, with acceptable risk levels, and the levels of reliability required. The service includes an analysis of the risks associated with structural failures, which can result from extreme metocean and operating conditions. Equipment diagnostic and assessment For the solution of specific problems arising with the different plants, equipment and systems involved in the production lines. Procurement activities Support, through experienced professionals, for the assessment, procurement and expediting of equipment and supplies, and also the inspection and control of manufacturing. Construction, installation and startup activities Technical assistance during the following stages: Construction Loading, securing and transportation Testing and startup Contract termination Project management support Support is provided with specialized personnel to ensure proper project management and control. Inspection, operation and maintenance of facilities Technical support for setting up inspection and maintenance programs, physical inspections and reviews of operational considerations. 7 Conceptual and Basic Engineering Conceptual Process Engineering Basic Process Engineering IMP own Technologies for Hydrotreating Evaluation, Assimilation and/or Transfer of Technology Environmental Assessment Safety Instrumented Functions Conceptual Process Engineering The problems of planning, modernizing or reconfiguring industrial units or complexes, refineries or gas processing plants, petrochemical complexes, crude production facilities, etc., require decisions involving: significant amounts of money, needing reliable information, both technical and economic, to help the decision-making process. Conceptual process design engineering, including safety aspects and the environmental impact assessment, identifies the need for additional infrastructure or the revamp or optimization of existing infrastructure, technical and economic analyses to select the best way to fulfill the requirement, the best technology, the optimal processing scheme, the preliminary equipment specifications, and the main systems required, as well as cost and investment analyses. 8 Basic Process Engineering The IMP s experience with Industrial Plants includes projects involving oil refining, gas processing, basic and secondary petrochemical plants, general industry processes, integration of industrial facilities, utility systems, and the storage and treatment of waste. The Institute s experience with oil exploitation projects includes both onshore and offshore facilities, such as drilling, production, gathering, compression, and accomodation platforms; other offshore projects are related to two-phase flow pipelines and gas lift. Additionally, basic engineering for discharge systems, including the sizing of safety valves, heads, liquid separator vessels, seals, height calculation for flare stack (considering the radiation and release of pollutants), sizing of pit burners, burners for marine platforms, etc., and also mass reduction analysis for new or existing plants based on the latest technology, using specialized software. 9 Evaluation, Assimilation and/or Transfer of Technologies Technology evaluation is considered part of the technology acquisition process to modernize or increase the capacity of existing processing plants or to build new processing plants, as an effective way of improving competitiveness and profitability. The IMP has experts and its own methodology to select, evaluate and, when necessary, assimilate alternative technologies to fulfill the requirements for a project, providing elements of technical judgment, economic assessment, environmental impact, and risk factors; and also to define licensing terms, royalty payments, and technical consulting. Our Air Quality, Fugitive and Evaporative Emissions, and Fuel Comparison Monitoring and Assessment services determine the effect of industrial activity on air quality. The benefits of these services include improved efficiency in productive processes, financial resources to move towards clean technologies through Emission Reduction Certificates, information for the Pollutant Transfer and Emissions Registry, the Single Environmental License, annual operating cell, and the voluntary environmental management program, among others. The services related to corporate responsibility support the incorporation and strengthening of criteria for social responsibility and environmental sustainability, for both existing and new projects throughout their lifecycle, encouraging the commitment of organizations to achieve the best results possible. These services are: Assessment of the Effects of Industrial Activities, Environmental Information Management Systems, Forensic Environmental Assessment, Installation Conformity and Environmental Assessment, Communication Strategies, Sustainability Indexes, Product or Process Lifecycle Analysis, Technical Assistance for Management Systems and Application of Geospatial Systems. The services with high technological content can be applied to resolve a specific problem or for comprehensive projects. The Environmental Risk and Health of Polluted Sites Assessment service applies deterministic and probabilistic analysis techniques, for both human and ecological receivers. This service helps to determine the specific levels of remediation for a site (according to the Mexican Law on Waste Prevention and Comprehensive Management and code). IMP has also the experience to develop Environmental Basis Lines for Offshore and Onshore facilities

10 Detailed Engineering Office Safety Instrumented Functions We have expert personnel, internationally certified in functional safety (CFSE), and also personnel certified in the application of risk analysis techniques for the first stage of the safety lifecycle. Extensive knowledge of Mexican and international regulations in Safety Instrumented Functions. Methods and techniques to meet compliance with regulatory requirements to have safety instrumented designs that are consistent and effective in reducing risk. This service may include: Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), to issue a series of recommendations based on the dangers and their magnitude so as to minimize the facility s risk. Selection of the safety integrity level (SIL), through the application of the ACP (LOPA) methodology for ESD and Event Trees for fire and gas (F&G). Includes the simulation of F&G consequences under different scenarios and the corresponding analysis of consequences using specialized software. 11 FEED Engineering Development of detailed engineering to extend the design of the plant beyond the Conceptual and Basic Engineering, to determine with greater accuracy, the viability of an investment project. Includes the development of Extended Basic Engineering and a Class III Cost Estimate, prior to the Project execution stage. It establishes the following: Development of general arrangement plans for plant equipment and the Pipe and Instrumentation Diagrams in traditional format or intelligent mode. The preparation of the main plans by engineering specialization, in the preliminary stage, preliminary specifications for equipment and infrastructure in order to provide greater detail in the concepts, quantities, materials, and volumes, making the estimate for the project cost more accurate. Determine multidisciplinary solutions in order to analyze the different options, principally aimed at optimizing the modifications and estimating the impact of changes during the final design and facility construction stages Detailed Engineering Development of the engineering to complete the preparation of the deliverables as approved for construction, applying the current codes and standards in effect, required for the construction of new or modified facilities (modernization, adjustment, change of service, or change of capacity) and their integration, generating the volumetrics and the internal budget for the project works. Development of onshore and offshore oil exploitation, production, transportation, storage and pumping, refining, or gas processing and petrochemical facilities. The design and best practices in engineering are supported with the use of advanced technological tools that consist of software and hardware resources, and highly trained, specialized personnel. Laser recognition technology is relevant for transforming the digital information obtained from the point clouds, into Intelligent Three-Dimensional Electronic Models. Detailed engineering applies to both the design of new facilities and to the integration of new and existing plants, including facilities that should be revamped. The different Annexes are developed containing the engineering specifications, the plans by specialization including the isometric pipe drawings, as Approved for construction, and also the Works Volume, all of which is added to the competition rules. The Constructability and Industrial safety at plant studies are maximized, indicating the evacuation routes, all process equipment, and auxiliary services, including roadways, floors, foundations, pipes and pipe racks, platforms and stairs, drains, main routing for electrical trays and instruments, buildings, power substations, and control rooms, among others

12 Special Engineering This service includes different aspects of engineering, for special situations such as developing the Facility Inspection and Maintenance Engineering needed to guarantee the structural integrity and safe operation of the oil facility infrastructure and equipment. The service includes the development and/or the updating of inspection and maintenance philosophies, and also application for the development of inspection manuals and the corresponding report evaluation, to identify the areas that require preventive and/or maintenance actions. This service also includes the engineering and technical assistance necessary for dismantling, recovery, and relocation or abandonment works for onshore and offshore facilities, either because they have reached the end of their useful service life or because they are not required at the original site. Technical Consulting Technical support and assistance is provided, with expert personnel in the different areas of engineering, including basic and detailed engineering, emergency response, integrity of systems and facilities, regulations, critical line flexibility analysis, revision of engineering companies, revision of Intelligent Two and Three Dimensional Electronic Models, inspections, manufacturing control and delivery of equipment and supplies, construction, installation, testing, startup, operation, inspection, and maintenance of onshore and offshore facilities. Special Studies Development of Design Regulations Ability to develop regulations for the design of offshore infrastructure based on risk studies and structural reliability taking into account the meteorological, oceanographic and seismic hazards, and the consequences of fault in the event of the total loss of the facility, such as the loss of human lives, structure, systems and wells, debris removal costs or the abandonment of a collapsed platform, production costs, environmental damages, etc. Contact: Pedro Antonio Lemus Aragón Detailed Engineering Manager Ph. 13 Electromagnetic Surface Inspection Technology (ESIT) This is a quantitative, preventive, non-destructive technology to evaluate the status of pipeline coatings without interrupting operation, which includes: field operations methodology, electronic systems and processing, and interpretation software, all developed at the IMP. ESIT helps to: Quantitatively evaluate the status of the coating, identify and classify zones for one or more pipelines that are nearby and interconnected Determine the geometric trajectory of the pipeline and at depth (up to 20 meters) Estimate the performance of the cathodic protection system Detect operating pipeline connections with other metallic structures Estimate the aggressiveness level of the subsoil Accurately mark (25 cm) the zones of the pipeline that are damaged, regardless of the surrounding environment: sand, water, clay, or whether it is scuttled or not Chemical Services Office Electromagnetic Surface Inspection Technology Catalysts Chemical Treatments Identification of Crude and Hydrocarbon Currents 25

14 Catalysts Chemical Treatments IMP technology catalyst supply and technical consulting services, related to the performance analysis, operational diagnostic, assessment, and use of catalysts, to support the operation of oil refining, petrochemical, and gas processing catalytic processes, with the following capacities: Basic research Technology development Industrial scaling Technical assistance for handling catalysts Development of technological packages Specialized characterization, assessment, and selection services Assessment of catalysts at pilot plants Comparative assessment of commercial and prototype catalysts, catalytic materials, catalytic systems and processes, through lab and pilot plant testing, and also using process simulators, which permit the diagnostic and/or projection of industrial performance of commercial catalysts. Catalyst supply Verification and validation of the manufacturing quality of the catalyst, providing technical advice and follow-up, and the industrial application of IMP technology catalysts or those the client requests. Technical consulting on catalytic systems Technical consulting on catalytic process industrial units during their startup and operation, and also for the handling, use, performance evaluation, and final disposal of the catalysts used and on the tender process to purchase formulations, providing: Technical diagnostic of the catalytic process and operational recommendations Technical assistance during the startup and operation of the industrial unit Support in the drafting of the technical guidelines for catalyst tenders Operational diagnostic of the status of the catalyst evaluated Technology is developed through research programs, offering specialized services to inhibit corrosion and the fouling of industrial facilities through the application of comprehensive chemical treatments, by supplying chemical products, dosing equipment, and monitoring, chemical control lab, supervision of the application of additives, evaluation of results, and delivery of reports. Also, technology licensing for the formulation of chemical products and for the synthesis of new chemical species required for these formulations. Studies are performed to ensure the quality of the fuels, as well as lab and industrial evaluations for formulated chemical products and raw materials. Hydrocarbon quality monitoring Quality control studies during the preparation, transportation, storage, and commercialization of fuels, ensuring compliance with specifications according to NOM- 086-SEMARNAT-SENER-SECOFI Assessments are also performed to select chemical products (demulsifiers, flow enhancers, anti-foamers, etc.) to meet the quality specifications set for crude oil. Application of chemical treatments Use of chemical products such as: demulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, cleaners, scale inhibitors, anti-foamers, paraffin and asphaltene deposit inhibitors, and flow enhancers, among others. Comprehensive chemical treatments are provided to control corrosion and dirtying in the processing equipment at different industrial facilities (refinery and petrochemical processing units, marine platforms, pipelines, storage terminals). Evaluation of chemical products To ensure timely and reliable support for different evaluation and performance tests for chemical products and/or substances, using physical, chemical, microbiological, and functional analyses of the raw materials that constitute the components of the chemical products prepared using IMP technology, and also lab and pilot plant performance evaluation tests for finished chemical products, either with IMP technology or commercial products. Catalyst to convert heavy crude loads to FCC Catalyst for the catalytic cracking process (FCC), formulated with a proprietary matrix that helps convert loads with high fuel oil content derived from Maya crude, hydrotreated loads or mixtures of both. Additive to reduce emissions of sulfur oxides at FCC plants Highly active additive to reduce sulfur oxide emissions in combustion gases from catalytic cracking (FCC) regenerator units. Ecologically friendly, with a vanadiumbased proprietary formulation

15 Demulsifiers for heavy and light crude Manufacturing technology for demulsifiers and/or the supply of additives, and also technical assistance services to adjust formulas to the changing conditions of the quality of the crude to be treated, ensuring the greatest efficiency in terms of desalinization to meet the specifications contracted for salt and water content. Asphaltene dispersant inhibitors IMPDAIM-1000 asphaltene dispersantinhibitor manufacturing technology and/ or additive supply, and also technical assistance services to prepare designs for the particular conditions of wells, helping to maintain or improve the production of hydrocarbons affected by the formation of organic deposits in wells, reducing their rate of decline and substantially decreasing the deferred production and frequency of cleaning needed. Multi-functional additives for gasoline We offer a line of the latest dispersing detergent agents for gasoline that help meet the standard NOM-086-SEMARNAT-SEN- ERSECOFI-2005, ensuring the intake valves and gas injection systems are clean, helping to lower pollutant gas emission levels and increase fuel performance in automotive vehicles. Rock wetness enhancer foaming agents New foam-based chemical products have been developed to improve the recovery of hydrocarbons in carbonated deposits, which have the characteristic of controlling the channeling of gas and favorably enhancing the wetness of the mineral surface in naturally fractured deposits. IMP-ESAT series products are formulated with an IMP-ESAT-1000 foaming component and a rock wetness enhancer agent, IMP-MOAT-1000, which have been developed following lab testing, pilot plant testing, and industrial tests at wells, with excellent results compared with other commercial additives. Characterization of Crude and Hydrocarbon Currents (Assay) Determination of the properties and performance of crude oil products and their cuts obtained by distillation, and also the quantification and evaluation of their behavior at pilot plants, under processing schemes of low, medium, and high refining complexity. Characteristics It reports on the physicochemical properties of hydrocarbons for use in the transportation, storage, processing, and design of new treatment, refining and petrochemical facilities, or the adaptation of existing facilities.
