11 PIPELAY Remazel Engineering designs and manufactures pipehandling systems for pipe-laying vessels, from S-Lay and J- Lay systems to Flex-Lay and Reel-lay solutions, and a wide range of customised products that allow customers to obtain comprehensive and integrated solutions for their own technical needs. Special attention is given to the sophisticated systems for laying deep-water pipes that are designed and manufactured to ensure maximum safety and the best performance during use. 13 RESEARCH VESSEL Remazel Engineering s many years of experience in the sector and technical specialisation allow it to design and manufacture equipment for highly specialised and sophisticated tasks, such as the handling of sensors and scientific instruments for laying fibre-optic cables and for geological inspection and handling remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). In particular, Research is an area of a scientific application of the offshore division devoted to research in geology and meteorology, starting with oceanographic vessels on board of which tasks such as bottom and salinity testing and field research are conducted. Among the most successful Research applications produced is the A-Frame: a device designed for use on board oceanographic vessels, for geological and meteorological detection, conducted by launching buoys equipped with special detection and data-collection sensors. Other typical applications of the Research segment are winches and launch and recovery systems (LARS). 13
