It is located at H-12 Sector Islamabad. Various schools in engineering, medical, business and social sciences have been established. The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering will contribute towards the improvement of existing educational standards and the promotion of research culture in Pakistan. The School is focusing on the engineering education related to mechanical, industrial, manufacturing and robotics. Faculty of this School has wide experience of academics, industry and research. 6 School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) J O I N I N G I N S T R U C T I O N S ARRIVAL / RECEPTION An orientation program has been arranged for the students and their parents.the aim of this orientation is to facilitate new entrants' integration into the world of university with ease and confidence. New students are provided an opportunity right in the beginning to clarify doubts and concerns if any. The day is also a great opportunity to meet fellow students. The schedule of the day will be as: 1. Reception 0930 Hours 2. Briefing do- 3. Welcome Address by Principal SMME do- 4. Refreshment do- 5. Collection of documents/ registration do- 6. NUST campus trip do- 7. Back to Department do- 8. Departure do- DRESS CODE There is no specific uniform, however a dress code is to be followed, as specified below: MALE STUDENTS (a) (b) Dress Pants and dress shirts of decent color (Shorts, Bermudas, Fancy Jeans, T- Shirts with designs / logos not allowed). Shalwar Kameez of decent color with waist coat (properly ironed). FEMALE STUDENTS (a) (b) (c) (d) Shirt with appropriate length and normal pattern shalwar (Low neck and sleeveless shirts not allowed). Duppatta or Shawl (preferable). Small heel or flat shoes (high heels not allowed). Trousers with long shirts (trousers with slits not allowed). Please note those not following dress code are subject to penalty which includes fine and those found repeatedly violating the rules will be liable to disciplinary action. 6

Medical Fitness Certificate (if not deposit at Main Office NUST) b. Original SSC & HSSC (or equivalent) qualification certificates alogwith photocopies of each. c. 2 x Attested photocopies of Matriculation certificates (SSC) / equivalent certificate along with detailed marks sheet d. 2 x Attested photocopies of FSc certificates (HSSC) / equivalent certificate along with detailed marks sheet e. Those who have passed O / A level examination must bring the equivalent certificates from IBCC otherwise they will NOT be registered at SMME f. Undertaking regarding conduct (specimen attached) g. Surety Bond (specimen attached) duly made out on stamp paper worth Rs 50/- h. Registration form (Specimen attached) 2 in duplicate duly affixed with passport size photographs j. 4 x Photographs for ID Cards (1 x 1 size) k. All students must bring a single piece coverall (dongree) in navy blue colour (for Boys) white lab coats (for Girls) with SMME mark (2" x 4") embroided on top of the left pocket. A sample of the coverall can be seen in DMRC. All students must be in possession of the coverall when they join SMME. l. All students must also have their respective personal Tool Box brought along at the time of Joining. m. Proof (cert/cards etc) in case you are son/daughter/ward of armed forces personnel (if applicable) Note:Those who have passed 'O'/'A' level examination must bring the equivalent certificates from IBCC otherwise they will NOT be registered at SMME 7

K N O W A L L M E N B Y T H E S E P R E S E N T T H A T I, Mr/Ms (hereinafter called the trainee) and Mr. (Surety No 1) and Mr. (Surety No 2) (hereinafter called the sureties) do hereby bind ourselves and each of us and heirs, executors and administration to abide by the terms and conditions of NUST after having been selected against civilian student of NUST seat at NUST School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. 2. During studies, the trainee shall abide by the school discipline and rules, regulations and standing orders/procedures concerned and pay all expenses in due time. Any violations of these will make the trainee liable to expulsion from the SMME, which shall be without right of appeal in any court of law. During studies, if trainee is expelled by the School on any ground, or deliberately fails and does not study, trainee will lose his seat in the School and will not be allowed to continue studies in any of the NUST institutions. 3. The trainee will abstain from any political activity during his tenure of studies at SMME. Trainee, if found guilty of an act which is forbidden by NUST/SMME authorities including cheating/drinking alcohol, etc, will be liable to expulsion from the SMME. 4. NUST (SMME) authorities reserve the right to plan/issue extended schedule of classes/exams during any part of the day, on as required basis. Candidates having less than 60% marks in Matric/FSc and in Equivalent Exams (as per equivalence certificate) are not eligible for admission to undergraduate programme, in any case. Candidates who have done O/A/GCE (A)/9-12 grade levels; will have to submit equivalence certificates of marks obtained from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
