16 Why is STEM important? "... Leadership tomorrow depends on how we educate our students today especially in science, technology, engineering and math." President Barack Obama, September 16, 2010 Investing in Technology to Create Jobs March 1, 2014 STEM education increases the competitiveness and prosperity of our future graduates as they enter our global economy. According to the STEM coalition, there are 26 million STEM jobs in the United States.
