4 Visit of the head of Research Topic B associate professor Yuriy Vorobyov to Fraunhofer IFF has been carried out to participate in The IFF Science Days. Negotiations took place between the KhAI rector professor Vladimir Krivtsov and deputy director of Fraunhofer-IFF professor Gerhard Müller, head of Process and Plant Engineering department Dr.-Ing. Matthias Gohla, head of measuring equipment and test equipment department Dr.Ing. Dirk Berndt and business manager Kay Matzner. Participants have exchanged information about the results of conducted researches in the field of aircraft assembly technology and resource-saving technologies for aircraft assembling. KhAI Scientists have took apart in science and technical seminar Digital and virtual engineering techniques to develop, test and operate technical systems and ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Fraunhofer-IFF.

5 Prof. Yuriy Vorobyov passed the scientific training at the Fraunhofer IFF in Magdeburg from to for account of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funds. The topic of training is "Development of technology of aircraft structures assembly using hand-held single-impact devices. Theoretical studies have been conducted aimed on the development of the selection concept of energy source type, calculation of tool parameters, integration of energy system into robotic complexes.

6 The exchange of scientific researches results on the topic Energy-efficient manufacturing technologies that were carried out at KhAI and IFF took place at KhAI on the 23 of May, Seminar was conducted by Prof. Y. Vorobyov the head of Research Topic B. The Rector of KhAI Prof. V. Krivtsov, students, postgraduate students, teachers and researchers of KhAI involved into studies concerning this subject attended the seminar. Presentations were made by Prof. G. Müller and Dr. M. Gohla from the IFF and Prof. V. Kobrin, Prof. S. Plankovsky, Dr. V. Ersmambetov from the KhAI.

7 Professor Yu. Vorobyov discussed with K. Matzner and Dr. D.Berndt: the subjects of upcoming joint researches of KhAI and IFF. Such subjects as: «Formalization of the automated technological design process in the aircraft assembly», «Experimental studies and numerical simulation of self-pierce riveting process» were recognized as priority for the next six months in frames of XVIII International Congress of Propulsion Engineering organize Special Session «The KhAI-ERA project mutually beneficial cooperation of Ukraine and EU in the field of aircraft technologies» to held at KhAI on November 2013 Local Workshop «Advanced Manufacturing for Aircraft Assembly» prepare at KhAI training-course «Impulse Self-Pierce Riveting»

11 Accurate-cost factors estimation for various assembly methods was conducted. Joint articles Composite Laminates Titanium Impulse Riveting Technology Development with Process Parameters Optimization and Experimental and numerical investigations on impulse self-pierce riveting of light weight aircraft aluminium and mixed structures of authors Yu. Vorobyov, D. Bernd, V. Voronko, B. Yatsoun is prepared for publication in international journal that included into international scientometric bases. Publication of the article is planned at the beginning of 2013.

18 The head of Research Topic B associate professor Yuriy Vorobyov told about the aims and objectives of the Framework Programme FP7; about the work performed by the team in frames of the programme; about the features of impulse technologies for aircraft assembly and tool designed for this purpose, about the modern methods of aircraft structures assembly as well. Yuriy Vorobyov answered the questions of Chinese engineers. Meeting with the company management and exchange of views about the directions of possible cooperation of KhAI and Wuhan Aviation Instrument Co. Ltd. was held.
