3 Preface T his is the Seventh Volume of Ceramic Engineering and Science Proceedings to contain papers from the Materials and Equipment and Whitewares Divisions Programs. Papers from the 1986 Annual Meeting, in Chicago and the 1986 Fall Meeting in Bedford, of these two divisions plus papers from the Ceramic Production Technology Forum are included in this issue. The Proceedings Committee is grateful as always for the contribution of these authors in the dissemination of Ceramic Engineering experience and technology represented by their efforts in presenting and writing these papers. Additionally the program chairmen and session chairmen are to be thanked for their help in collecting these papers.
