The number increases constantly by 20% every year. 2 Events since last ITM Summit 2.1 Preparing the BIM Roadmap by 2017 The Ministry of Construction has appointed Bertrand DELCAMBRE, former CSTB chair, as "Digital ambassador". His mission consists in drawing a roadmap to generalize by 2017 practices based on digital tools for all the construction sector professionals. One of the main inputs is the 75 contributions that have been published on the htpp://mission-numerique.fr web site. 2.2 Call for proposals from PUCA (Plan Urbanisme Construction Architecture) This call asks owners to propose ongoing or finished projects where BIM has been used. These projects will be evaluated by independent experts to appreciate costs and benefits related to BIM uses. Projects of experimentation of new concepts or services will also been supported. Projects will be selected by the end of this year. 2.3 Meetings Boards meetings on March 28th, May 14 and September 3rd. Telecons in between. Annual meeting on October 2nd. 2.4 Institutional Meetings Several summits took take place in Brussels, following a joint initiative from the UK and Norwegian governments in the perspective of a coordination of all the efforts in favor of ISO-BIM at the European level. 40 participants from UK, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Island, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, France, Italy, Ireland, Denmark and Singapore. French delegation: P. Lemonnier (PUCA), F. Hovorka (Caisse des dépôts), P.Ponthier (AIMCC), S. Soubra (CSTB), C. Castaing (Egis) and A. Maury (Mediaconstruct). 2 2.5 Domain Group Activities PPBIM commission The AFNOR PPBIM commission (Product Properties for BIM) is working on a standard to establish and maintain a network of dictionaries of harmonized properties. Those properties can be: - used for trading, logistic and maintenance at international level - used for technical exchanges related to european (and/or international) standards and classifications such as Omniclass - attached to classes or property sets of any standards, including IFC. PPBIM is also the mirror of CEN/BT/WG BIM working group. The first step is completed and the experimental standard XP P will be published and translated soon. The document provides a methodology to manage harmonized dictionaries of properties and groups of properties for products and systems for construction. The properties defined according to the standard will contribute to extend IFC et harmonize manufacturers catalogs. The second step, experimentation of the standard, is now beginning. The roadmap is: - Creation of a support organization for an experimental French dictionary - Work on a certification process for tools and contents - Setting-up of a steering committee and experts group working on validating a first set of properties and groups of properties in the French context (including translation). The first properties will be related to CE marking, thermal regulation, acoustic, fire, environmental impact, logistic and trading. - Look for tools implementing the standard and interested in testing the dictionaries interoperability. - Proposal of the standard at European level into CEN WG 215 framework. - Participate in experimental projects including bsdd :describe Edibatec properties according to the standard et add them into bsdd. Infrastructure MINnD The French National Project dedicated to infrastructures, has been completely set up and the official launching will occur on March 23th in Paris. The consortium joins together contractors, engineers, software vendors, Universities and Research laboratories, professional unions. There are now 40 subscripers paying fees, and 10 universities with no fees. The 6 working groups on use cases are now in live: 1) The first is working on the schema issued for the BSI roadmap for 2016, based on the 40 usecases for building 2) On pavement under the full lifecycle 3) IFC bridge 4) Monitoring the cost 5) The project review BuildingSMART French Speaking chapter Page 2/5

3 Environmental issues and connection with GIS. Several conferences are already organized under the MINnD campus label EURODICTI Under the Horizon 2020 call 8.1, the project for creating a network of European data dictionary has been launched. The project has been issued on august It s a coordination between various public and private organization based in Europe : French, dutch, german, british, norvegian, Swedish and Portuguese. It is a project of 1 million of euros for the next two years. OGC meeting One representative of MINnD and Medi@Construct has participated to the technical meeting in Geneva in June on the development of Infrastructure model ( SWG of Infraland project). Participation to the Interoperability day in Paris, in October. P6 project IFC alignment Representatives of MINnD and medi@construct are participated to the meeting of the expert panel: conference call and live meeting in Munich. FIDIC congress in RIO A representative of MINnD and Medi@Construct has been invited as speaker on the BIM issue in the FIDIC contract in the international Congress in Rio. CEDR S3 meeting A representative of MINnD and Medi@Construct has participated to CEDR S3 meeting as technical advisor of the French Director of Roads. BIM 2015 project This two-year program, led by the BS French Chapter (AKA Mediaconstruct), is funded by the French Ministry of Industry. The BIM-2015 proposal was the response from the AEC French professional organizations and chambers to a call-for-tender of the Ministry. In 2012, this call for tender was aiming all the industry domains, as different as aerospace, automotive, etc. and AEC. The purpose was to support industry stakeholders, domain by domain, in the field of information technology, targeting exclusively the benefit of the usage of those technologies by the SME s. Thanks to this support, the FS Chapter is now developing two actions, with the help of all its members, and primarily CSTB and FFB. Action number 1: Promotion of the usage of bill of quantities directly issued by an IFC-BIM : Development of BIMetre, an XML schema to exchange quantity take-off from BIM softwares to cost estimating softwares used by SMEs. 4 compliant, development of plugins for CAO softwares in progress. The schema also allows the exchange of libraries used for cost estimating. Action number 2: Development and promotion of a French structure for accompanying the BuildingSMART certification structure BIM-2015 involves several SMEs in different French regions: 30 small and medium size construction and engineering companies for the action number 1, and 8 highly specialized French software vendors, already involved in buildingsmart, for the action number 2. Training and education A Master degree dedicated to BIM practices for sustainable development started on September with 37 auditors. Most of them plan to become BIM managers. The partners of this master are engineering schools, architecture schools, CSTB and companies of the construction industry. BIM project execution plan guide The Mediaconstruct board has decided in May to define templates and a guide to write "BIM execution plan" suitable for the French public market. Our main reference is "BIM Project Execution Planning Guide" from the "Computer Integrated Construction Research Program" at the Pennsylvania State University. This project is managed by the "BIM managers group" of Mediaconstruct which has met on September 15th. 2.6 Seminars or trade shows Our annual "BIM s day" has been a great success, with 250 attending. Other major events during the period: - Scan 2014: seminar on numerical architectural design. CRP Henri Tudor, Luxembourg, June 18&20 - First national congress of BIM in the framework of Innovative City, Nice, June 25&26 - «Bim Bang» event. New exhibition in Palais de la Bourse, Lyon, July 2&3 The BIM Gold awards have been attributed by Group Moniteur on September 24th and BIM Tekla France awards on October 16th. 2.7 New documents and media BIM & maquette numérique pour l architecture, le bâtiment et la construction is the first handbook in French about BIM, published last June. 624 pages and 140 contributors. In March, Group "Le Moniteur", one of the most important media for construction sector, has published a booklet which introduces BIM concepts. In May, it also published a booklet written by Syntec- Ingénierie presenting a French Definition for Levels Of Definition, linked with the global construction process phases. 5 2.8 Social networks The LinkedIn group Pratiques du BIM which has been created one year ago has today more than 500 members. It is continuously growing with high level of discussions and comments. 3 Scheduled Activities 3.1 Board meetings 4 formal Board meetings per year in addition to more specific telecon meetings 3.2 Institutional Meetings French representatives from UNTEC, CSTB, MINnd, AIMCC and Mediaconstruct will continue to participate to the coming meetings in Brussels. 3.3 Domain Group Activities Most planned activities are related to the main ongoing projects: BIM 2015, PP BIM and MINnD. 3.4 Seminars or trade shows Eskal Eureka launched the 48h du BIM concept. During three days (5-7/11) in Anglet, teams of students will compete in order to propose solutions to challenges proposed by enterprises. Each team will mix both French and Spanish students, architects and engineers, from various disciplines. Astus Constrution organizes BIM Décathlon, during the BlueBat exhibition. (4-6 March, Lyon). This three days competition consists in refurbishing a building with BIM based tools and methodologies. BIM world 2015: March 25&26, CNIT, Paris la Défense. 4 General Recommendations and Priorities for this Summit To finalize a clear and efficient BuildingSMART organization and especially clear Standard committe rules and clear perspectives regarding certification.
