1 Objective ICT : Design of Semiconductor Components and Electronic Based Miniaturised Systems This objective addresses generic platforms, methods and tools to cope with the design challenges in the next generations of technologies and with heterogeneous integration of different functions. The activities in this area are complementary to the activities in the ENIAC JTI. Target outcomes a) Improved design platforms, interfaces, methods and tools that meet the requirements of semiconductor companies, fab-less design houses and system developers, including : - Design of energy efficient electronic systems, and thermal effect aware design; - Integration of heterogeneous functions: 3D, System-in-Package, Network-on-Chip, wireless (microwave,mm-wave and THz) systems; - Methods for reuse of IP blocks, test and verification; - Design solutions for moving the application boundary between hardware and software to fit performance needs; Design platforms and interfaces for mixed/new technologies; - New paradigms for design of reliable circuits with less reliable devices; - Reliability-aware design including EMR/EMC requirements; - Design for manufacturability taking into account increased variability of new processes; - Better modelling of devices at all design levels into circuit/system design; - Further standardisation, including interoperability aspects.

3 Probleem Designing a microelectronic chip is very expensive and the design costs are the greatest threat to continuation of the semiconductor industry s phenomenal growth Once the presence of a fault has been ascertained, it remains to discover the source of the fault (localise it) and to correct about two thirds of design time is spent on debugging

4 DIAMOND projekti pakutus lahendus Verification, however, supplies only a partial solution to the correctness issue. Verification refers to detecting that a fault exists In this proposal, we go one step beyond verification to propose a focused effort on an integrated method for fault localisation and correction by providing a systematic methodology and an integrated environment for the diagnosis and correction of errors We estimate that DIAMOND design flow would bring about 50 % reduction in time spent on fault localisation and correction 25 % reduction of the time to identify a given number of soft error escapes 30 % increase in the number of identified unprotected soft errors

6 Tööprogrammi fookus Objective ICT (ICT ): Digital libraries and technology-enhanced Learning Target outcome For digital libraries Medium term: a) Large-scale European-wide digital libraries with innovative access services that support communities of practice in the creation, interpretation and use of cultural and scientific content, including multi-format and multi-source digital objects. They should be combined with robust and scalable environments which include semantic-based search capabilities and essential digital preservation features. Particular attention is given to cost effective digitisation processes and to the use of digital resources in multilingual and multidisciplinary contexts.

7 Oodatud mõju (tööprogramm) Expected impact Unlocking people's and organisations' abilities to access content, master it, transfer it to the desired contexts and preserve it over time. Widespread use of these resources in the collaborative creation of cultural experiences. EU-wide migration of content to digital form involving memory institutions (libraries, archives and museums), leveraging national initiatives, and resulting in a significant increase of content available through digital libraries. Faster and more effective acquisition of knowledge, competences and skills, increased knowledge worker productivity, and more efficient organisational learning processes.

8 Pakutud lahendus The general objective of the SMARTMUSEUM project is to develop a platform for innovative IT services enhancing on-site personalised access to digital cultural heritage through adaptive and privacy preserving user profiling.
