10 Selected Results A method for determining depressive disorders by measuring and analyzing of brain EEG signals (SASI algorithm) was invented and implemented as a mobile device Novel optical method for estimating the efficiency i of dialysis: i surprising synergy was achieved bringing the ideas from the diagnostics of electronics into medical diagnosing Original methods of signal generation and processing for broadband impedance spectroscopy were invented and implemented in medicine and engineering g A platform for automated design of specialized signal processors New verification methods for embedded systems including an extremely fast fault simulator with a speed-up about 5-10 times compared to the existing professional tools A system for automated test synthesis for electronic boards, today the test programs for boards are written manually 10

September, 2010 presentations of CEBE, discussions, statments of the IAB members about the results and organisation of CEBE. Reporting CEBE full report about 2-year activities on 37 pages. IAB feedback on CEBE results and suggestions on 6 pages. In fact, the IAB suggested to establish a new and modern International Faculty at the University, including reasearch, teaching on the MSc and PhD levels, also engineering and development for the industry, economy and society, both in Estonia and EU. 15

16 Suggestions of IAB IAB: Measures of Success Definition of some project demonstrators would make the progress evaluation easier and would provide good marketing opportunities for the Centre itself. Going towards demonstrators (CEBE internal projects): Project P1: Task driven signal processor architectures for bioimpedance spectroscopy; Project P4: Electronic implementation of the algorithms for detection of mental disorders as a specific signal processor; Project P5: Analyzer for dialysis. 16
