McKellips Rd, Suite 111 Mesa, AZ 85201 THE ATTIC 28 January 2011 Issue No. 11-3 www.atticneedlework.com TELEPHONE (480)898-1838 FACSIMILE (480)898-0332 IN THIS WEEK S ISSUE: Italian Embroidery Books, page 4 Introduction of Pineberry Lane designs in The Attic IN NEXT WEEK S ISSUE: Details about our February Sampler of the Month Preview of Nashville Releases NeedleWorkPress s Maria Tilley 1835 January s Sampler of the Month When this incredible sampler from Vickie s personal collection first appeared as part of the Cows article in the Summer 2010 issue of Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly, the magazine received an unprecedented number of requests for reproductions of the samplers pictured in the article, including Maria s. It has now been faithfully reproduced by Tanya Brockmeyer on Lakeside s 45c Vintage linen using a combination of beautiful silks (NPI, Belle Soie, Gloriana, and Gumnut), the verse stitched over one. We have the linen in all counts for your personal preference. MORE SILK OVERDYE IS ON ITS WAY FROM AUSTRALIA. PATIENCE, PLEASE! The brick house shows how perfectly the overdyed silk works for the brick effect, all without rethreading. I HATE changing colors every 3 or 4 stitches to get the necessary shading ~ it takes too much time! The bricks here look just as they would in a reallife building, and it s all done with the same softly-shaded skein of silk! Magic! Maria would have loved having it in her stitching basket. How fortunate we are, to have hand-dyed linens & silks to make the time we spend with our needle even so enjoyable! As our January Sampler of the Month, you will save 15% on your purchase of 2 of the following: chart $22 40c linen with 2-inch margins $29 silk combo pack $92
