THE ATTIC! PAGE 3 Margaret W. Brown, a beautiful reproduction and adaptation from Gloria/Milady s Needle Above, reproductions matched to the colors on the back, left, stitched on 28c linen with Au Ver A Soie s Soie Perlee and Soie de Paris and, right, stitched on 35c Weeks Mocha with Au Ver A Soie s 100/3, both beautiful. But I fell in love with the original, below, and...... the beautiful faded palette on the lighter ground fabric. We ve chosen again a selection of different overdyed silks (Belle Soie, Dinky Dyes, and Gloriana s Florimell, Luminescence, and Silk Floss) to stitch our model on 40c Lakeside Linen. (I m addicted to overdyes, both in fabric and threads, so perfect, I think, for sampler reproductions.) I haven t gotten far enough on my model to show you any progress yet, and although we have a very busy next two months, my goal is to finish it by the end of November. This is a petite sampler, relatively speaking, and I love it! Save 15%, as one of our Co-Samplers of the Month, on your purchase of at least 2 of the following: chart $19 ~ fabric (40c w/2-inch margins) $13 ~ overdyed silk combo package $70 OR the AVAS charted combinations, which depends (Perlee not recommended for 28c) on the count of your fabric, $36 - $38. On larger-count fabrics with larger margins the fabric cut will be a bit more.
THE ATTIC! PAGE 4 Gary s sampler-in-progress of On Christmas Day from Linda/Samplers Remembered Although introduced at the St. Charles Market, we ve been fortunate to have this exquisite sampler in our shop for several years, along with Linda Danielson s other charted reproductions, and so Gary began his six months ago or so. Isn t it beautiful? We ve done silk conversions to both NPI OR the AVAS with touches of overdyed silks using Gloriana s Florimell + Belle Soie, shown to the left. As one of our Co-Samplers of the Month, save 15% on purchasing at least two of the following: chart $15 ~ linen $31 (40c Lakeside linen with 2- inch margins) ~ AVAS/Florimell silk combo $115 OR NPI $93 If you start this now, you just might have it finished in time for it to decorate your home this Christmas Season.
THE ATTIC! PAGE 5 Jane Tindall from Vickie/NeedleWorkPress Other new items from NeedleWorkPress: above, a reproduction of a charming and tiny ABC ephemera that Vickie found in her constant search for alphabet anything ~ a little over 3 inches tall, these are simply irresistible for those of us who love the alphabet and samplers and antiquey things. $18 ~ and, below, the 2011 edition of Vickie s very popular and giftable Book of Days $12. Jane Tindall 1864 was reproduced on 40c Weeks Confederate Gray as pictured on Page 1. The photo above is how it might look on a warmer, buttery color with the charted silks shown above. Tanya s gorgeous model is currently in display in the shop. Save 15% on your purchase of 2 of the following parts: chart $18 + linen ~ 40c w/2 margins = $22 to $25, depending on type ~ silks as charted, Au Ver A Soie s Soie d Alger and Gloriana s Florimell $83.40
THE ATTIC! PAGE 6 Co-Sampler of the Month: Chessie & Me s Birth Sampler Left, scanned chart model stitched with cotton overdyes on V. L t. E x a m p l a r ~ right, our conversion to silk threads, shown on Lakeside s linen. Also from Linda/Chessie & Me We ve never had a birth sampler as one of our Sampler-of-the-Month selections, but the verse, and the symbolism Linda used in her design, made this the perfect first! I still can t read the verse without choking up: When you are born, you cry and the World Rejoices. May you live in such a manner that when you leave this earth, the World cries and You Rejoice. Doesn t that express exactly how we feel about our beloved little ones, whether child or grandchild, niece or nephew? The sampler design also includes a good deal of symbolism for a new baby, as Linda explains: The honeysuckle vine is a symbol of devoted affection and protection. The lamb symbolizes youth and innocence, gentleness and humility, and the pine trees stand for strength and fidelity. A treasured birth sampler for any gender. As a Sampler of the Month, you may save 15% on your purchase of the following: chart $10 + linen ($9 for 40c w/2-inch margins; larger counts and margins will be more) + silks ($63.75 for the Belle Soie and Dinky Dyes combination. The sampler is charted for cotton overdyes, but there is no discount available for the cottons.
