5 Overview Fabricated fully welded steel security door is a strong intruder resistant door Custom made to measure to suit the customers door opening Available in a range of grill pattern designs to suit all home styles Fitted with a heavy duty steel anti jemmy (slam bar) welded across the top and the opening side of the door to protect the lock latch from tampering Dead Lock mechanism is fitted inside a welded steel lock box for added security Heavy duty welded steel hinges For added security the heavy duty steel door frame is fixed to the building structure, or door frame, using 10G x 50mm long Square Head Drive stainless steel screws, which are concealed inside the steel frame Steel doors & frames are hot dip galvanised, to provide resistance to corrosion, and are finished painted in a range of selected colours HD Steel pin hinges

6 Overview Security Doors and Screens Standards For a product to be marketed as a security door or screen it must be manufactured, tested and installed to standards as outlined by Standards Australia. AS 5039 AS 5040 AS 5041 Security screen doors and window grilles. Installation of security screen doors and window grilles. Methods of test Security doors and window grilles.

7 Overview Steel Security Doors Comply with AS 5039 Type 2 Door Australian Standard AS "Security Screen Doors & Security Window Grills details there are 3 classifications of security doors In summary the classifications & test requirements are described in Clause 5.2 of the standard (reference page 9) as follows: Type 1 - An infill material that has openings small enough to generally prevent an arm from being passed through. It shall be possible to pass a 3 +/-1mm probe through the infill material. It shall NOT be possible to pass a 65+/-0.5mm x 15+/-0.5mm probe through the infill material The maximum clear opening in any direction of an aperture in the infill material, when assembled into a security window grill, shall be not greater than 90mm Type 2 - An infill material that has openings of any size that may allow an arm to be passed through but which prevents bodily entry. It shall be possible to pass a 65+/-0.5mm x 15+/-0.5mm probe through the infill material. It shall not be possible for bodily entry through the infill material. Type 3 - An infill material that has openings small enough to generally prevent insects passing through. It shall not be possible to pass a 3 dia. +/-0.1mm probe through the infill material (see figure 5.1)

Ref figure 5.3a - If the height (h) is greater than 300mm, then the width (w) shall be less than 150mm, where h is the greatest aperture opening in any direction & w is the aperture opening perpendicular to h. ii. If h is less than or equal to 300mm then w shall be less than or equal to [(150 x 300)/h], for example: A. Ref fig. 5.3b - If h = 175mm then w < 150 x 300/175 < 257mm B. Ref fig. 5.3c - If h = 200mm, then w < 150 x 300/200 < 225mm C. 28 Screen Mesh Options Types of Mesh Fly Mesh Paw Proof Mesh Aluminium Mesh General Information This is the most common type of mesh. It is used for fly screens, diamond grill screens & colonial cast screens. It is made of fibre glass. It is very soft & flexible, it has a tight weave, & will not corrode A stronger, thicker mesh that gives a little. It is ideal for families with pets or high traffic areas. This mesh is rigid, stronger mesh. It can still be cut using a Stanley knife but not as easily as fibreglass mesh Bushfire S.S Mesh Sandfly Mesh Safety Mesh S. S. S. Sandfly mesh has a smaller aperture to ensure those tiny pesky bugs stay out too! 0.7mm 304 grade stainless steel safety mesh used in steel security window or door frame. The mesh is not considered to be a security product. It is often used in conjunction with steel frame & grill security doors for additional safety & insect barrier 0.8mm x 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh that is pretreated & then powder coated.
