4 Privacy Shield Systems General Information 2. General Information 2.1 Processing The aluminium posts and privacy shield profiles can be worked with typical wood-working tools. For power saws, we recommend carbide-tipped blades. Cut edges must be deburred. terraza posts Maximum centre-to-centre distance 2000 mm 1600 mm structura posts terraza 1940 Aluminium U-profile 1940 Centre-to-centre distance 2000 structura 1540 Aluminium U-profile 1540 Centre-to-centre distance Expansion Fluctuations in temperature and moisture levels cause the privacy shield profiles to expand and contract in their length, width and thickness dimensions. The profiles expand by max. 6 mm / linear m of profile length or width. This must be taken into account during installation by creation of corresponding expansion joints toward all sides. Failure to leave expansion joints can result in stresses that could lead to warping or buckling of the profiles. No warranty claims can be accepted if these instructions are not followed. 2.3 Changes in colour WERZALIT privacy shield profiles are dye penetrated and fade naturally over the course of time without losing the basic character of their colour. As these are wood-based products, colour variations over time, caused by UV rays and moisture, are natural and to be expected. During the first weeks and months in particular (depending on weather conditions), a natural lightening of the profiles may occur, but this does not indicate a defect. Colour fluctuations within a profile or a batch highlight the natural wood character and do not represent a defect. Water spots may develop during the initial period after installation. This effect occurs due to lignin, a natural constituent of wood that can be washed out under exposure to rain. These spots can generally be removed with large amounts of clean water and typical household cleaning tools. This effect is minor on surfaces exposed to heavy sunlight or completely rinsed off by rainwater. These water spots do not impair the quality of the terraza and structura profiles and do not represent a defect. 2.4 Cleaning / care The aluminium posts and privacy shield profiles require no special care. However, larger instances of soiling should be cleaned off shortly after they occur. To prevent algae and bacteria growth, we recommend regularly removing dirt and natural residues at least once per year. To do this, brush off the privacy shield profiles lengthwise with water and typical household cleaners using a normal household cleaning tool. For stubborn dirt, a high-pressure cleaner may be used (max. 80 bar, at least 20 cm distance from profile surface, no rotary nozzle). Detailed care instructions can be found on our website 4

Installation Note: Both post holder variants can be used equally for terraza or structura privacy shields. 3.1 Post holder for setting in concrete Step 1: Determine the position of the privacy shield Stretch a guide line along the planned privacy shield wall and determine the positions of the posts. Step 2: Excavate the holes We recommend foundation dimensions of 300 x 300 x 600 mm. The foundation must be deep enough to prevent frost exposure. Fill in the holes with earth-moist ready-mixed concrete (follow the manufacturer instructions). Step 3: Set the post holders Set the post holders plumb-vertical with the help of a bubble level (we recommend a post level) into the prepared foundation in the correct height. The post holders can be positioned exactly with the help of a guide stake previously cut to length. We recommend allowing the concrete to set for one day. 3.2 Post holder for screwing on Step 1: Determine the position of the privacy shield Stretch a guide line along the planned privacy shield wall and determine the positions of the posts. Step 2: Set the position of the privacy shield Set the post holder plumb-vertical with the help of a bubble level (we recommend a post level). If the ground is uneven, galvanised washers can be placed underneath at the screw points. The post holders can be positioned exactly with the help of a guide stake previously cut to length. For fixing the post holders, we recommend: 1) DIY stores: Chemical anchors (e. g. TOX chemical anchor TVA M 10 Contact) Stud bolt (e. g. Fischer stud bolt TA M 10) 2) Timber store or specialised dealer for tradespersons: Chemical dowels Beko injection mortar set M 10 (national technical approval) plus anchor rods M 10 x 130 mm Fischer injection mortar FIS VS 300 T plus injection anchor sleeves FIS HK 12 x 85 K SB-K Upat injection mortar UPM 33 Concrete bolts Concrete bolts (e. g. Würth bolt anchor for cracked concrete DBL-(W-SA/S)-SW16-(A2K) X 100) Please follow the manufacturer processing instructions for all products. 6 Privacy Shield Systems Installation terraza top view terraza centre-to-centre distance 2000 mm structura top view structura centre-to-centre distance 1600 mm 3.3 Installation of privacy shield profiles Step 1: Install the posts First screw the supplied threaded pins M 10 x 10 into the threaded holes provided in the posts. The threaded pins serve to precisely align and affix the posts. Align the posts plumb-vertical with the threaded pins, then tighten the threaded pins. Step 2: Install the privacy shield profiles Insert the profiles individually into the grooves of the posts; for terraza profiles, use a hammer and a bolster to tap them into each other from one side. For structura profiles, insert the profiles individually into the grooves of the posts. Affix 3 rubber U-elements each, distributed over the profile. terraza variant with standard post length 1880 mm = 12 profile rows structura variant with standard post length 1880 mm = 8 profile rows incl. 3 rubber U-elements each between the individual layers as noise protection. Step 3: Completion Cover the still open post grooves with the corresponding panels. Place aluminium U-profiles cut to the appropriate length on top to terminate the terraza or structura profiles. The length of the U-profiles corresponds to the length of the terraza or structura profiles. Fasten the aluminium U-profiles with screws 3.9 x 16 mm. 7 Privacy Shield Systems Installation 3.4 Installation of privacy shield profiles on inclines and at angles On inclined ground, arrange in steps. Please base the offset on the profile spacing (profile coverage width). a) terraza: approx. 150 mm b) structura: approx. 226 mm with inserted rubber U-element Insert aluminium panel cut to correct length Insert aluminium panel cut to correct length For angles > 10, two posts must be set. 7
