2 Opening Shots June marks Alpha s one year anniversary. Hard to believe, but Alpha is quickly closing in on it s one year anniversary. In mid- June of 2013, FOB s were dispersed to a handful of chosen shooters who became the first annual pass holders as they ran a pilot of the facility and thoroughly tested equipment, systems, and protocols. Even with our new technology and equipment, all systems worked right from the start and the inevitable crashes and bugs never appeared. I wholeheartedly believe Alpha has been able to avoid technical difficulties to date because of the top of the line equipment designed and installed by Action Target and Carey s HVAC: kudos again to those design, fabrication, and design teams. As an architect and builder, it is rewarding to see a simple sketch develop into a complex drawing set and come to life into a three dimensional space (in this instance, effectively a solid concrete vault!). It is a rewarding experience for me to watch members interact with the range space with smiles and nods. I appreciate that so many of you have valued the concept of Alpha to become part of our family. Our first year brought many unanticipated surprises with advanced training opportunities and new friends. I am expecting that members in Year Two will build skills and abilities beyond levels ever imagined, using their unlimited range time to full advantage. Year Two will be full of new activities and training programs!

3 June Open Houses offer last Annual Pass opportunities until September I will be off-line July and for most of August. I am hosting a number of small open houses over the remaining June weeks for interested parties to consider joining Alpha without waiting until Fall. Training options are in place for prospective members to fulfill qualifications and earn a FOB before the end of June, including courses with either PST or Four Leaf. No new FOBs will be activated until the membership qualifications are achieved, so I encourage anyone considering joining to contact me ASAP for the required steps. And as incentive, the 14-months for $1,000 introductory offer expires the end of June. Renewal Procedures and Fees Pass holders will be notified days before their annual pass period expires. To avoid access interruption, simply mail a check to Alpha or drop payment in the white box before June 30th. If you would like to renew early to receive the 14 months for $1,000 deal again, even though your membership now extends beyond June, you may send in your second year check before June 30 to retain this price. Price Updates: The 14 months for $1,000 introductory rate expires June 30. The new membership rate as of August 1 will be 13 months for $1,000. Less paperwork in my life remains an advantage to me, but the same Monthly rate of $83.00 for 12 months will continue. To help stay current with insurance expenditures, Guest Rates will increase to $25 per visit beginning July 1. Family upgrades will remain $200 for a spouse and up to two children. 4 It s 2014 and I finally joined Facebook Old dog and new tricks! The purpose of our Alpha Range Facebook page is to communicate upcoming class information, training tips, new information, general advertising, etc. Facebook is a new tool, but I m figuring it out and will appreciate any help along the way. If you are already a Facebook user, please feel free to visit us. And if you are new to Facebook, keep us in mind if you do ever decide to jump in. Custom Made Kydex Holser Builds June 18th & 19th Not crazy about sending your prized pistol away for a custom Kydex holster? Here s a way to avoid the shipping costs, hassle, and weeks without having your firearm! Alpha is pleased to have Jimmy Fujioka visit us for two days on June 18th and 19th. Jimmy will offer custom Kydex holsters made on site for pass holders at a reduced price of $ You bring the pistol, and Jimmy will expertly craft a custom creation to your specs within a couple of hours. Hit a bay while you wait or watch your creation come to life. Jimmy only uses the best available materials and offers various colors. As nothing custom is made quickly, appointments are necessary to ensure appropriate time is reserved. Please Jimmy at holsters@sayko.net to set up a time on either the 18th or 19th. As a testament to Jimmy s work, several months ago I commissioned him to create an OWB Kydex holster for my carry 1911 variant after seeing a sample he left on the counter at Alpha. Within a few hours, Jimmy had molded a special black custom Kydex holster that even secures the gas pedal safeties in the cocked-andlocked position without flaw. Beautiful fit, cut, finish, adjustability and durability. Great price, great convenience, and great quality.

5 Updated SOP in the Works! SOP Version 2.0 nears completition with an release date late June While most is clarification and expanded information, other areas (i.e. Guest Policy), do become a little more elaborate. Some of the highlights include: IL CCW: No hot firearms may be handled outside of a containment bay. To clear a hot CCW weapon, the pass holder must clear the firearm while pointed down range (trap or battle wall) in a containment bay with respect to the 180 and anyone else in the environment. Guests are not permitted use of holsters at Alpha, and therefore may not enter the facility while carrying. Google Calendar: The online calendar implemented in September and has grown in popularity. As time has afforded the opportunity to kick the tires, new practices have been built into the updated version of SOP V2.0 regarding on-line calendar appointments. The containing SOP V2.0 will require a reply within one week of send date to keep your FOB from being switched to inactive. This procedure worked very well with the Guest Policy review that was sent out after the May 16th accidental discharge incident.

Four Leaf Training: Intro to Competative Pistol: June 25th For the shooter wanting to enter into pistol competition this 3-4 hour class will be an introduction to the rules and safety procedures needed to get started. Classroom topics covered will include safety, equipment, range procedures, basic rules, basic scoring and what to expect on the range. The live fire element of the class will expose the new shooter to a basic stage scenario where the shooter will have a chance to practice what they ve learned in a low stress (uncompetitive) environment. 7 Parting Shots Housekeeping: Please dispose of the hand towels in the provided trash receptacles. Please DO NOT flush them down the toilets and make certain guests are aware of the protocol as well. West door expands in summer heat: please give it a little push to ensure it fully closes. Please turn the clubhouse AC down to whatever temp you like during your visit but PLEASE return it back up to 75 degrees before leaving to help save energy costs when the building is empty. Doors lock at midnight Due to an issue with software and the programming code, FOB s cannot be extended past midnight and into the next day. Because of this, please BE AWARE if you are making trips to your vehicle after midnight. You will need to either prop the door or have your shooting partner work the door. As always, never hesitate to contact me if you need the door override triggered, etc. I continue to work toward getting the FOB s to be active past midnight, and hope to be able to address this matter with the next software update released later this year.
