2 We spark a child's imagination and bring the wonders of science right to their doorstep. We at Mad Science are pleased to introduce your school to our programs. There are currently dozens of schools in Utah and thousands throughout the U.S. enjoying Mad Science programs. At Mad Science, our goal is to provide your students with educational and exciting science-based activities. This fun, entertaining, hands on-activities, presented by our team of trained and background-checked Mad Scientists, activities instill a clearer understanding of what science really is and how it affects the world around them. Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake is part of an international company, The Mad Science Group, and has been providing science enrichment programs to Northern Utah for over 15 years. Mad Science offers four exciting and unique programs. After-school Programs Our most popular option, After-school Programs, costs your school nothing. The parents pay for their children's participation. The 4, 6, and 8-week programs, designed to get children excited about science. It is a program you can proudly add to your school's resume of educational opportunities. Student Workshops Pick one of 80 workshops that explore a specific science topic. Correlated to the state core workshops can help prepare students for end of level tests or be a fun science experiences. Focusing on hands-on science experiments each workshop is ideal for 0 to 30 students. A pre- and post-field trip lesson plan includes an additional two hours of material for in-class use. Mad Science Booths Add pizzazz to your science fair or carnival. The Mad Science booth at your science fair will be popular with students and parents alike. For a per-item fee, attendees will learn how to make slime, bouncy balls or cotton candy that they get to keep (or consume) while learning about the science behind these fun, and sometimes tasty, items. Mad Science Assemblies Mad Science Assemblies are both fun and educational. Each show discusses a wide range of science topics. They are ideal for science fair kick-offs, rewards for special achievement, use as a fund-raising enhancer or as an introduction to a Mad Science After-school Program.
3 After School Programs The after-school or before-school component of our program costs your school nothing! Parents pay for their children to attend. The cost is $78 + facility fee for the 8-week program $65 + facility fee for the 6-week program $48 + facility fee for the 4-week program There is an extra $3 discount for early registrations. We encourage online registration, but can make exceptions for homes that do not have computer access. Programs can be run with as few as 15 to 0 students. We keep our student to teacher ratios low, so that if more than 0 children register, we send at least one additional Mad Scientist instructor or break the class into two groups. Mad Science makes it easy for our school partners to host one of our after-school programs. We need a room (or rooms) in which to hold the class and a day of the week that is convenient for the school for as many weeks as the course will run. The schools need to pass out our flyers, which we provide and pre-sort into bundles of 30. Mad Science also comes to the school at a convenient time and has a Taste of Mad Science. This often occurs at lunch time at the school a week or two before the start of the program. Mad science will display the take homes for the upcoming class. The table is supervised by one of our Mad Scientists, who will also be doing a short, attention-grabbing demonstration (usually with dry ice or vortex generators) that is fun, but does not require children to remain in the area for an extended time to enjoy. Our current programs include: Building Blocks of the World Around Us Crazy ChemWorks NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers phunky physics Secret Agent Lab Science Mania Class descriptions available upon request. The first 3 programs are based on different aspects of the central topic. The other 3 programs offer a different science topic to explore each week. For more information about booking an After School Program at your school contact us by phone at or via at madscience.gslc@q.com 3
4 Student Workshops Mad Science workshops take place in the classroom, are filled with strong science content as well as fun and exciting hands-on activities. Mad Science workshops can be a cost-effective alternative to field trips. Each workshop is about one hour in length with a pre- and post-field trip lesson plan, that includes an additional two hours of material. Mad Science workshops can cost as little as $150 per class. A number of our In-Class Field Trips are eligible for funding from outside sources.
