WELLINGTON DIGICAMP SUMMER 2017 Digi-Camp is unlike any camp you have experienced before. Your children will be exposed to some of the brightest, most motivated teachers you could imagine. These are teachers and instructional leaders who get it - the idea that kids want to, need to, can t wait to make stuff. Kids love to build, program, manipulate, write, edit, record, and just play. That is exactly what your children will be doing at Digi-Camp - Robotics, programming, rocketry, flying things, film production, photography and so much more. Dig in and see what you children are going to be doing this summer!
FAST FACTS Since the winter of 2006 Digi-Camp has been offering Winter, Spring and Summer Camps for extraordinary kids using 21st century tools and skills. We staff our camps with highly qualified Florida certified teachers who love working with children. Our instructional staff is at the heart of why we are successful. Digi-Camp has undergone some changes since our founding in 2006, but our underlying principles remain intact: 1. Offer experiences and opportunities that make kids want more! The stuff must be so fun and exciting that they do not want to go home at the end of the day. 2. Staff our camps with adult instructors - many of whom are are certified Florida educators and who truly love the stuff we offer! Our staff MUST be enthusiastic and engaging. 3. Make it all affordable! Don t nickel and dime families! That s why we don t have a registration fee! 2
A Few Camp Notes We hold enrollment to small numbers in order to give kids a great experience and lots of attention. Our camps are popular and therefore fill quickly. We suggest you register and pay as soon as possible to avoid being placed on a wait list. Our easy online registration process makes signup and paying for camp painless and fast. Our Boca Raton Location Our Boca Raton camps are held at the Young Makers Lab facilities on Federal Highway in Boca Raton. We are just north of Yamato Road, making it super convenient to I-95, Congress Avenue, and Federal Highway. We have just over 3700 square feet of indoor space, including two building/computer labs, an upstairs Digital Media Loft, a TV/Podcasting lab, and our world famous Robo-Lab - where kids build, program, test and battle robots! To the rear of our building is a beautiful, new City of Boca Raton Park called Sand Pine Park. We normally have lunch in the shade of the trees on their picnic tables and then spend a little energy on their playground after lunch. Online Registration Registration for our summer programs must be completed online. Digi-Camp uses a simple web-based registration system that will allow you to complete registration from any connected device. Payment can be made using any major credit card, or you are welcome to pay by cash or check. Give us a call if you prefer to pay by check or cash. 3
Here is what you will need to register: Go to and use the menu at the top of the page to navigate to the appropriate camp registration link. Create an account - this will allow you to login at any time and view your account information including past registrations, upcoming camps and workshops for which you are registered, and when we add new content, you will see that too. Fill in your camper s information. Select the camp you are interested in. Fill out a few online forms (Medical, household forms, etc.) Complete the process by paying. It s that simple! Pricing Structure Our price structure is simple. Base Price: $300 per week (Early discounts may apply - register now!) Extended care: $75 per week Additional charges: Some of our camps require additional charges that cover the cost of the materials needed for that particular camp. In these cases campers will bring home things they build. Example: mbot campers bring home their robot. Costs of each camp is listed on our registration website. Remember, early registration discounts may apply - the earlier you register, the more you can save! July 3rd-7th - We are closed July 4th in celebration of Independence Day. The price for all camps that week is reduced based on the number of days we are open. *Prices and content subject to change without notice. 4

Federal Highway, Suite I (indigo), Boca Raton, FL Refunds & Attendance Policies Digi-Camp has a NO REFUND POLICY. Any days missed cannot be made up elsewhere during the summer. 6 2017 CAMP CONTENT Video Game Programming Level 1 Minecraft Modding Ages 7-10 & Campers will learn to program their own video games using one of the most popular video game software packages available developed by the engineers at MIT. Campers will be using Scratch, which will allow them to view, edit and play their games from any connected device. Ages Young Makers learn to modify Minecraft using a Blockly / Javascript based system that was designed to introduce kids to basic programming concepts through their favorite video game. Campers will make a variety of mini-games like Capture the Flag as well as create their own blocks, mobs, and items, and reprogram their Minecraft world in ways only they can imagine! Included in the price of the camp is a one-year subscription to the Learn To Mod online programming system that we will use in the camp so that your Young Maker can continue to program inside Minecraft once camp is over. Lego WeDo Robotics Video Game Programming Level 2 Ages 7-10 & Campers will take their own video games to the next level, learning how to include advanced elements including gravity, scorekeeping, levels and more. Campers will continue to work in Scratch, which allows them to view, edit and play their games from any connected device Ages 7-10 Makers will complete a series of challenges which require engineering, creativity, and imagination to solve using the LEGO We Do robotics kits. WeDo helps teach how technology plays an active role in the students everyday life and is ideal for teaching across all of the subjects - including Math, Science, Technology and Engineering. 6
2017 CAMP CONTENT Creative Coding Ages 7-10 & Your children will use computer coding to create art projects, 3D printed objects, tee shirts, video games and much more. We will take your children's knowledge of computer coding and bring it to the next level. Stop Motion Animation & Film Camp Ages 7-10 Campers will get to bring their ideas to life. They will develop their own stories using elements of plot, setting, rising action, conflict, and resolution. Once characters and backgrounds are made, students use computers, webcams and special software to bring their stories to life! We will cover idea development, storyboarding, prep and production, lighting and composition and of course, shooting and editing. Fabrication Ages Introduce your child to the world of digital fabrication, where they can produce in the real world whatever they can imagine and create on a computer! We will work with powerful 2D and 3D design software that is appropriate for kids, but still able to make complex objects. Then we will teach your child to produce their designs on a variety of digital fabrication machines. Participants will take home all of their creations! Photography Ages 7-10 & Campers will learn to use digital point-and-shoot as well as DSLR cameras to capture beautiful photographs. We will dabble in lighting techniques, rule of thirds, leading lines, & even photo editing techniques. Several awesome field trips are planned for our photographers. 7
2017 CAMP CONTENT MakerCamp Lego Robotics Level 1 Ages 7-10 This camp is for kids who like to make interesting, artistic, and technical inventions! We will make a variety of amazing projects that move, draw, fly, grab, and most of all make kids think. Ages Campers will build and program Lego EV3 Mindstorms designed to help students take ownership of the learning process, enabling them to actively develop the problem-solving skills and collaborative outlook necessary to become creators, not just consumers. 8
