Shall not be used as a support for other systems i.e. strapping cables to outside of the containment, structural support for lighting pendants etc. 4. Data/telecom cables shall not be supported by any other Mechanical and Electrical fittings/supports. It is not acceptable to strap cables to HVAC ducting, BMS, cables, ceiling tile supports etc. 5. Cables shall not be stacked above the height of the cable basket side walls i.e. if the cable basket has side walls of 100mm then the cable depth shall not exceed 100mm. This also applies where the depth of cables has been increased above 150mm at the agreement of The Client. 6. All cable baskets and metal trunking shall be earth bonded in accordance with BS There shall be no discontinuation between sections of cable basket or trunking 8. All cable baskets and trunking shall be jointed together with the manufacturers fixings 9. All sections of containment, bends, joints, clamps, bonding etc. shall be from a single Manufacturer. It is not acceptable to mix and match containment products from different Manufacturers 10. Cable baskets and trunking shall have manufactured bends it is not acceptable to change direction by butting together two sections with no manufactured bend Cable basket external and internal bends shall be 200mm radius Cable basket right angle bends shall be 200mm radius 11. Cables entering a riser at low level shall immediately enter a wall mounted cable basket riser 12. Where cables penetrate walls or fire barriers the containment shall penetrate completely through 13. Fire barriers shall be sealed to the fire rating of the penetrated barrier 14. Where cable baskets cross power cables they shall be bridged at Where there are multiple tiers of cable basket/trays the most accessible position shall be reserved for data cable basket 16. Cable basket shall be marked with colour coded labels as reserved for data cabling only at 500mm centres 17. Tight/unnecessary bends in trunking/tray/basket shall be avoided. 17

Changes in cable containment from vertical to horizontal and vice versa shall be within 150mm of each other 22. Cable baskets shall not be installed upside down 23. Cable baskets can be mounted with the base of the basket against walls but only where they form a riser i.e. vertically 24. Cable baskets mounted on walls in a horizontal aspect shall be mounted on cantilever wall brackets that keeps the base of the basket at 90 0 to the wall 25. Ensure that all containment meets the electrical separation distances specified within EN Trunking 1. Trunking may share services but it shall be multi compartment and the data/telecom cables shall not share services within their compartment 2. Dado level trunking system linking to the horizontal basket tray distribution shall only be accomplished by a vertical section of trunking from the dado section to the suspended ceiling/floor void 3. Only metallic Trunking shall be used in ceiling voids 7. Where metallic trunking is used in ceiling voids is shall be installed on metallic cantilever wall or trapeze brackets 8. Trunking shall not be screwed to ceiling slab 9. Only metallic trunking shall be used in escape routes 18

19 3. False Floor 1. The minimum height from the top of a cable bundle to the underside of the false floor shall not be less than 50mm. 2. Where cable basket is used it shall be supported by 41mm Unistrut bars 3. Unistrut bar to extend a minimum of 50mm the width of the cable basket at each side 4. All cable containment shall be installed such that it facilitates the installation of all cables at the time of the main installation and at any future point. e.g. Tight/unnecessary bends in trunking/tray/basket shall be avoided. Minimum cable bend radius to be adhered to at all times Draw wires to be installed in all empty conduits. Where cables are installed within suspended floors the containment shall be accessible along the entirety of its length Cable baskets/trays or other services shall not be installed over the data containment. If there is a tiered basket system then the data basket shall be in the top most position 50mm 150mm 41mm Figure 1 Suspended floor cable tray 19
