In a resdental or a smlar area t can cause rado frequency nterference. In such cases the user can be requested to use approprate preventve measures. 4. DEVICE INSTALLATION The unt has been desgned and manufactured n a way assurng a hgh level of user safety and resstance to nterference occurrng n a typcal ndustral envronment. In order to take full advantage of these characterstcs nstallaton of the unt must be conducted correctly and accordng to the local regulatons.! - Read the basc safety requrements on page 3 pror to startng the nstallaton. - Ensure that the power supply network voltage corresponds to the nomnal voltage stated on the unt s dentfcaton label. - The load must correspond to the requrements lsted n the techncal data. - All nstallaton works must be conducted wth a dsconnected power supply. - Protectng the power supply connectons aganst unauthorzed persons must be taken nto consderaton UNPACKING After removng the unt from the protectve packagng, check for transportaton damage. Any transportaton damage must be mmedately reported to the carrer. Also, wrte down the unt seral number located on the housng and report the damage to the manufacturer. Attached wth the unt please fnd: - user s manual, - warranty, - assembly brackets - 2 peces ASSEMBLY 6! - The unt s desgned for mountng nsde housngs (control panel, swtchboard) nsurng approprate protecton aganst surges and nterference. Metal housngs must be connected to ground n a way that comples wth the governng regulatons. - Dsconnect the power supply pror to startng assembly.

7 !! - Check the connectons are wred correctly pror to swtchng the unt on. In order to nstall the unt, a 43 x 90.5 mm mountng hole (Fgure 4.1) must be prepared. The thckness of the materal of whch the panel s made must not exceed 5mm. When preparng the mountng hole take the grooves for catches located on both sdes of the housng nto consderaton (Fgure 4.1). Place the unt n the mountng hole nsertng t from the front sde of the panel, and then fx t usng the brackets (Fgure 4.2). The mnmum dstances between the centre ponts of multple unts - due to the thermal and mechancal condtons of operaton - are 67 mm x 115 mm (Fgure 4.3). a) 43 mm 1 mm 8 mm 13 mm 13 mm 90,5 mm 8 mm 1 mm max. 5 mm 7

Durng nstallaton all avalable safety requrements should be consdered. The ftter s responsble for executng the nstallaton accordng to ths manual, local safety and EMC regulatons. - The unt s not equpped wth an nternal fuse or power supply crcut breaker. Because of ths an external tme-delay cut-out fuse wth a small nomnal current value must be used (recommended bpolar, max. 2A) and a power supply crcutbreaker located near the unt. In the case of usng a monopolar fuse t must be mounted on the phase cable (L). - The power supply network cable dameter must be selected n such a way that n the case of a short crcut of the cable from the sde of the unt the cable shall be protected aganst destructon wth an electrcal nstallaton fuse. - Wrng must meet approprate standards and local regulatons and laws. - In order to secure aganst accdental short crcut the connecton cables must be termnated wth approprate nsulated cable tps. 9

10 ! - Tghten the clampng screws. The recommended tghtenng torque s 0.5 Nm. Loose screws can cause fre or defectve operaton. Over tghtenng can lead to damagng the connectons nsde the unts and breakng the thread. - In the case of the unt beng ftted wth separable clamps they should be nserted nto approprate connectors n the unt, even f they are not used for any connectons. - Unused termnals (marked as n.c.) must not be used for connectng any connectng cables (e.g. as brdges), because ths can cause damage to the equpment or electrc shock. - If the unt s equpped wth housng, covers and sealng to, protectng aganst water ntruson, pay specal attenton to ther correct tghtenng or clampng. In the case of any doubt consder usng addtonal preventve measures (covers, roofng, seals, etc.). Carelessly executed assembly can ncrease the rsk of electrc shock. - After the nstallaton s completed do not touch the unt s connectons when t s swtched on, because t carres the rsk of electrcal shock. Due to possble sgnfcant nterference n ndustral nstallatons approprate measures assurng correct operaton of the unt must be appled. To avod the unt of mproper ndcatons keep recommendatons lsted below. Avod runnng sgnal cables and transmsson cables together wth power supply cables and cables controllng nductve loads (e.g. contactors). Such cables should cross at a rght angle. Contactor cols and nductve loads should be equpped wth nterference protecton systems, e.g. RC-type. Use of screened sgnal cables s recommended. Sgnal cable screens should be connected to the earthng only at one of the ends of the screened cable. In the case of magnetcally nduced nterference the use of twsted par of sgnal cables s recommended. Twsted par (best f shelded) must be used wth RS-485 seral transmsson connectons. In the case of measurement or control sgnals are longer than 30m or go outsde of the buldng then addtonal safety crcuts are requred. In the case of nterference from the power supply sde the use of approprate nterference flters s recommended. Bear n mnd that the connecton between the flter and the unt should be as short as possble and the metal housng of the flter must be connected to the earth wth the largest possble surface. The cables connected to the flter output must not be run wth cables wth nterference (e.g. crcuts controllng relays or contactors). Connectons of power supply voltage and measurement sgnals are executed usng the screw connectons on the back of the unt s housng. 10

Defntons of measurement ranges n mode 4 20mA If the result of measurement exceeds the permssble measurement range, warnng -H- or -Lo- s dsplayed rather than nput sgnal, depends on exceeded value (see descrpton of Lo r H r parameters, paragraph npt menu). nomnal measurement range H r parameter 0 ma 20 ma permssble measurement range Fgure 6.2. Defntons of measurement ranges n mode 0 20mA If the measurement value do not exceeds permssble measurement range but dsplayed value exceeds range , the warnng -Ov- s dsplayed rather than the calculated result. In the measurement mode user can check man thresholds values. After pressng [^] or 16

17 [v] button, name of the threshold (e.g. rel1 ) and hs value wll be dsplayed on the dsplay n alternatng mode. If [^] or [v] wll be pressed n 5 sec agan, the next threshold wll be dsplayed, else the devce comes back to the measurement mode. If a free access s enabled (see descrpton of SECu menu), user can change the value of partcular threshold pressng button [] (see: PARAMETERS EDITION). Input type, range of dsplayng values, characterstc of converson, decmal pont poston and measure flterng rato, are user confgurable parameters. All accessble parameters can be changed by enterng the menu (see: DEVICE PROGRAMMING). Use the local keyboard or the remote controller to do t. (Note: all parameters can be remote changed va RS-485 nterface). Confguraton of the devce (va menu or RS-485 nterface) do not stops measures DETECTION OF THE PEAK VALUES The SRL-49 controller s equpped wth peaks detecton functon. It can detect a peaks of the nput sgnal and dsplay ther values. Presets connected wth ths functon are placed n HOLd menu (see descrpton of HOLd menu). The detecton of the peak can be done f the measured sgnal rases and drops of value at least equal to parameter PEA. Detected peaks are dsplayed durng the tme defned by parameter tme. If a new peak wll be detected whle one s dsplayed, ths new peak wll be dsplayed and dsplay tme counter wll be cleared (Fgure 6.3). If no peaks are detected whle tme tme elapses, devce starts to show the current value of nput sgnal agan. If HdS = HOLD then settng parameter "tme"=0.0 causes holdng peak value untl [] button s pressed. If HdS = real then value "tme"=0.0 means no holdng. Dsplayng peak value s sgnalzed by flashng most rght decmal pont. The relays/leds and the current output can be controlled depend on the current value of nput sgnal or the peak value (see HOLd menu). measure tme tme PEA PEA real measurement result dsplay value tme Fgure 6.3. 18 6.3. CONTROL OF THE RELAY OUTPUTS The control of the object (measured sgnal) s realzed va relay outputs. Front panel LEDs named R ndcates the state of partcular relay output. If devce s not equpped wth one or more relay outputs, menus refer to ths relays are avalable, but apply to LED ndcators only. In such case LEDs ndcates exceedng of partcular thresholds. Modes of the control can be changed depend on the values of parameters SEtP, SEt2, HYSt, mode, t on, toff, unt and AL. Depend on mode parameter, relays can be not used or controlled over one or two thresholds values. If one threshold s used (Fgure 6.4) the relay can be turned on ( mode = on ) or off ( mode = off ) when the nput sgnal value s contaned n zone A. If two thresholds are used (Fgure 6.5) the relay wll be turned on when value of nput sgnal s contaned n zone A ( mode = n ) or zone B ( mode = out ) and turned off f the sgnal s contaned n the second one. state of relay/led SEtP parameter zone B zone A measure HYSt parameter Fgure 6.4. Prncple of LED/relay output operaton for one threshold mode Parameter SEtP sets a threshold of the relay, and parameter HYSt sets a hysteress of the relay (Fgure 6.6 a). The relay can change hs state only when nput value exceeds (over or under) border value and t A,t B,t C,t D tmes (Fgure 6.6) are bgger than the tme defned by parameters t on, toff and unt. Border values means values equal threshold+hysteress and threshold-hysteress respectvely. If t on and toff parameters are set to 0, then the relay state wll be changed as soon as nput value exceeds any of the border values (see ponts A and C, Fgure 6.6 a, b, c). If values of t on or/and toff are postve, then relay state wll be turned on f the nput value exceeds the border values and stay bgger (or lower) durng at least t on (see ponts B ON, D ON, Fgure 6.6 a, d, e). 21 Fgure 6.7 presents the prncple of relay outputs operaton for two thresholds mode, and an example values of other parameters. In ths mode parameter SEt2 s accessble n common wth SEtP, ths parameter descrbes a second threshold of the relay output. The parameters HYSt, mode, t on, toff, unt and AL are connected wth both SEtP and SEt2 thresholds. Whle the controllng process, the relay output changes hs state depends of both SEtP and SEt2 thresholds n smlar way as t was descrbed n one threshold mode. If two threshold mode s used, mode parameter defnes state of the relay output when the nput value occurs n a partcular zone defned by border values of both thresholds. The relay can be turned on f the nput value s contaned n zone A ( mode = n ) or zone B ( mode = out ) and turned off f t s contaned n the second one (Fgure 6.7). The sequence of thresholds SEtP and SEt2 can be set n any order, due to the control of relay outputs s done depend on dfference between thresholds values (zone A ) and outsde of threshold values (zone B). 7. 24 rel1 menu Ths menu allows to confgure the operaton mode of relays and LEDs marked R (e.g. R1 ). If there are few relay outputs avalable, then every output has ts own confguraton menu (e.g. menu rel2 for relay (LED) R2 ). Prncple of the relays operaton s descrbed n paragraph CONTROL OF THE RELAY OUTPUTS. SEtP SEt2 HYSt The relay outputs and LEDs (named R) can be controlled depend on both - the current value and the peak value (when peak detecton s actve) of the nput sgnal. If devce s not equpped wth one or more relay outputs, menus refer to ths relays are avalable, but apply to LED ndcators only. In such case LEDs ndcates exceedng of partcular thresholds. - frst threshold of the relay (range ). Negatve values can be nput by selectng a - sgn on frst dgt (to change value use [^] and [v] buttons). Threshold s the medum value of relay hysteress. - second threshold of the relay (range ). Negatve values can be nput by selectng a - sgn on frst dgt ( to change value use [^] and [v] buttons). Ths threshold s accessble when mode parameter s set to n or out value. Threshold s the medum value of relay hysteress. - hysteress of relay (range 0 999). Full hysteress of the relay s equal to 2x HYSt parameter. The relay state can change when an nput sgnal s out of threshold-hysteress to threshold+hysteress zone. Presented parameters should be set to ensure that SEtP + HYSt, SEt2 + HYSt, SEtP - HYSt or SEt2 - HYSt do not exceeds the measure range. Addtonally, n two threshold mode ( mode = n or out ), the hysteress for both thresholds must not cover each other (n other case relay can't change hs state). mode - relay operaton mode: 24 noac on off n - the relay s not actve (permanent turned off) - one threshold mode, the relay s turned ON when nput sgnal exceeds SEtP + HYSt value, and s turned off back when the nput sgnal became lower than SEtP HYSt, - one threshold mode, the relay s turned OFF when nput sgnal exceeds SEtP + HYSt value, and s turned on back when the nput sgnal became lower than SEtP HYSt, - two threshold mode, the relay s turned ON when the nput sgnal s bgger than lower threshold + HYSt and lower than bgger threshold HYSt, and turned off when the nput sgnal s contaned n the second zone. The bgger threshold means bgger one of SEtP and SEt2 thresholds, the lower threshold means lower one of SEtP and SEt2 thresholds.

25 out - two threshold mode, relay s turned ON when the nput value s bgger than bgger threshold + HYSt and lower than lower threshold HYSt, and turned on when the nput sgnal s contaned n the second zone. The bgger threshold means bgger one of SEtP and SEt2 thresholds, the lower threshold means lower one of SEtP and SEt2 thresholds. modb - the relay s controlled va RS-485 nterface, ndependently on the nput sgnal. LEDs lght when relays are closed, ndependently of relays' mode. When power supply fal, unt do not store relays state selected by RS-485 nterface. t on - turn on delay tme, the relay s turned on wth delay equal t on f the nput value exceeds approprate border value (defned wth threshold and hysteress), at least t on tme. t on range , defned wth 0.1 sec. resoluton. Unt of ths parameter s set by unt parameter. toff unt - turn off delay tme, the relay s turned off wth delay equal toff f the nput value exceeds approprate border value (defned wth threshold and hysteress), at least toff tme. toff range , defned wth 0.1 sec. resoluton. Unt of ths parameter s set by unt parameter. If tme when the nput sgnal exceeds some border value s shorter than t on or toff tme, the relay do not change hs state (see paragraph: CONTROL OF THE RELAY OUTPUTS). - unt of tme for t on toff parameters. Can be set on one of two values: mn SEC - mnutes, - seconds. AL - ths parameter defnes the relay reacton when some crtcal stuatons occurs: noch on off - relay do not change hs state, - relay wll be turned on, - relay wll be turned off. If parameter mode s set to on, off, n or Out the crtcal stuaton means that allowable measurement range s exceeded. If parameter mode s set to modb, the crtcal stuaton means communcaton delay (when no data s receved) longer than mbto parameter (see descrpton: rs menu). If opton noch s selected for AL parameter, behavour of the relay may depend on FLt parameter n some cases. If FLt s set to bg value and the nput sgnal drops, result value of the measure wll change slow, causes of turnng on or off relay due to thresholds values. The crtcal stuaton s slowly 25

26 detected, so t s mpossble to predct the relay state n that stuatons. If parameter AL = on, the relay wll be turned on n the crtcal stuatons, even f hs parameter mode = noac beep menu Ths menu contans optons connected wth acoustc sgnal : "AL "r1 "r2" "r3" "r4" - f ths parameter s set to on, any crtcal stuaton causes by acoustc sgnal - f ths parameter s set to on, actvaton of relay R1 causes by acoustc sgnal - f ths parameter s set to on, actvaton of relay R2 causes by acoustc sgnal - f ths parameter s set to on, actvaton of relay R3 causes by acoustc sgnal - f ths parameter s set to on, actvaton of relay R4 causes by acoustc sgnal Acoustc sgnal (turned on by e.g. relay ) can be turned off by pressng of any button npt menu Ths menu presets the measurement nput: type" - type of the nput / sensor. 27 FLt - ths parameter sets fltraton rate. It can be set to values from 0 (no fltraton ) to 5 (strongest fltraton tme wndow about 2 sec). Pnt Lo C H C - decmal pont poston. It can be set to one of: 0, 0.0, 0.00, Decmal pont poston s changed by [^], [v] buttons. These parameters descrbe the values dsplayed for mnmum and maxmum nput current. For example, f nput type s set to 4-20 ma Lo C parameter defnes the value dsplayed when nput current s equal 4 ma, and H C parameter defnes the value dsplayed for 20 ma of nput current. Avalable range for these parameters: Negatve values can be set by enterng '-' sgn on the frst poston (by use of [^], [v] buttons). If volume characterstcs of a cylndrcal tank s selected (parameter CHAr = tn v or CHAr = tn h ) the parameters Lo C and H C are not avalable. t h1, t h2, t h3, t d - the parameters defnng shape of cylndrcal tank (Fgure 7.1 and Fgure 7.2). a) for the cylndrcal tank n the vertcal poston: t h1 - the heght of the bottom part of a tank (n the ellptc parabolod shape), ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t h2 - the heght of the mddle part of a tank n the cylndrcal shape, ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t h3 - the heght of the top part of a tank (n the ellptc parabolod shape), ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t d - the dameter of the mddle part of a tank, ths parameter has the fxed precson decmal pont, b) for the cylndrcal tank n the horzontal poston: t h1 - the length of the left bottom of a tank (n the ellptc parabolod shape), ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t h2 - the length of the mddle part of a tank n the cylndrcal shape, ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t h3 - the length of the rght bottom of a tank (n the ellptc parabolod shape), ths parameter has the fxed precson - 2-decmal pont, t d - the dameter of the mddle part of a tank, ths parameter has the fxed precson decmal pont, t Sn, t Sh - parameters defnng the length and poston of the sensor used to measure 27

If user defned characterstc s selected, and f number of defned ponts s lower than 2 then warnng Errc s dsplayed n measurement mode. - ths opton allows user to delete any of the ponts of the user defned characterstc. After selecton current number of ponts of the user defned characterstc s dsplayed for about approx. 1.5 sec. After that devce wats for selecton of pont beng deleted (by [^], [v] buttons). The short pressng of [] button causes by swtchng between X and Y value of the dsplayed pont. The long press (press and hold at least 2 sec) of [] button causes by dsplayng del? ask. If [] button s pressed agan, current pont s deleted and new updated number of ponts of the user defned characterstc s dsplayed. - ths opton allows user to modfy of partcular pont of the user defned characterstc. After selecton current number of ponts of the user defned characterstc s dsplayed for about approx. 1.5 sec. After that devce wats for selecton of pont beng edted (by [^], [v] buttons). The short pressng of [] button causes by swtchng between X and Y value of the dsplayed pont. The long press (press and hold at least 2 sec) of [] button causes by enterng to edt the selected coordnate of the pont. Modfcaton of the coordnates s done accordngly to numercal parameters edton. AddP, delp and EdtP optons are avalable only f the user defned characterstc s used (t means when parameter CHAr = USEr ). Lo r, H r - these parameters defne the expanson of nomnal range n percent. They determne the permssble range of nput sgnal (Fgure 7.3). The permssble range allow user to exceed the nomnal range of nput sgnal. If nput value s contaned n the permssble range a proper result s dsplayed. If nput sgnal exceeds ths range (defned by Lo r and H r ), -Lo- or - H- warnng s dsplayed depend on nput sgnal value. 30

31 Lo r = 75,0% (3 ma) I mn nomnal measurement range (4-20mA) H r = 5,0 % (1 ma) I max [ma] permssble measurement range dsplay message -Lo- measurement result s dsplayed regardless on nomnal range exceedng dsplay message -H- Fgure 7.3 Example of defnton of permssble range of nput sgnal - Lo r and H r parameters ( 4-20 mode) The Lo r parameter s mportant f nput s set to 4-20, 1-5 or 2-10 mode only, and determnes lower border of the permssble range. If nput s set to 0-20, 0-5 or 0-10 mode then lower border of the permssble range s always 0. For example f nput s set to 4-20 mode, then lower border s calculated due to expresson: I mn = 4 ma - 4 ma Lo r %. The Lo r value can be set from 0 to 99.9%. Parameter H r determnes the upper border of the permssble range accordngly to the expresson (for all modes). For example f nput s set to 4-20 mode, then upper border s calculated due to expresson: I max = 20 ma + 20 ma H r %. The value of H r can be set from 0 to 19.9% In example no 1 of the DISPLAY VALUES CALCULATION paragraph the procedure of the permssble nput range determnng s presented n detals. If the measurement value do not exceeds permssble measurement range but dsplayed value exceeds range , the warnng -Ov- s dsplayed rather than the calculated result OutP menu Ths menu contans parameters of current output control. Menu s avalable f the devce s equpped wtch current output. Omod Current output can be controlled depend on both present measured value and peak value (f peak detecton s enabled). - current output mode, can be set to values: off - current output dsabled, current output enabled wth 0 20 ma mode, current output enabled wth 4 20 ma mode, modb - current output controlled va RS-485 nterface. 31

32 OUtL OUtH - ths parameter determnes the nput value for whch the output current s mnmal (0 ma or 4 ma depend of current output mode Omod ). - ths parameter determnes the nput value for whch the output current s equal 20mA. The output current value s calculated due to formulas gven below: W " OUtL" I out = "OUtH" "OUtL" 16 ma 4mA for output range 4 20 ma I out = W "OUtL" "OUtH" "OUtL" 20 ma for output range 0 20 ma where W denotes the dsplayed value. Lo r, H r OutL parameter can be greater than OutH. In ths case the converson characterstc s reversed, t means that f nput value rases the output current falls. - ths parameters defne the output current range (maxmum range 0 to 24 ma). If calculated output value I out exceeds defned range then current output generates the current equal to upper or lower border of the defned range. The parameters defne the percentage extenson of nomnal current range 4-20 ma (wth 0,1% resoluton). Parameter Lo r defnes lower border of the range due to formula: I mn = 4 ma - 4 ma Lo r %. Ths parameter can be set from 0 to 99.9%. Parameter H r defnes lower border of the range due to formula: I max = 20 ma + 20 ma H r %. Ths parameter can be set from 0 to 19.9%. In example on page 47 of the DISPLAY VALUES CALCULATION paragraph the procedure of the current outputs determnng s presented n detals. AL - ths parameter determnes the behavour of current output f any crtcal stuaton occurs. The parameter can be set to one of the values: noch - current wll not change, current wll be set to 22.1 ma, current wll be set to 3.4 ma, current wll be set to 0 ma. When the crtcal stuaton goes, the current wll be set to value calculated due to formulas gven above bar menu 32 Ths menu allows to confgure the bargraph.
