5 HYDRALUX A flexible & powerful LED light line field cuttable from the reel HYDRALUX offers users a new freedom of design: depending on the step measurement (62.5 mm / 2.45 or 125 mm / 4.91 ) this flexible and light intensive LED line can be shortened on site to the desired length and then simply be installed by bonding or with clips. The elegant and flexible linear luminaire with a reflective, white background profile offers up to 1,821 lm/m (555 lm/ft) and is IP67. It is water and UV protected and two HYDRALUX can be joined without light gap. The sophisticated concept and the small cross-section of 12.5 x 3.5 mm (W x H) / 0.49 x 0.13" (W x H) allows it to be utilized in almost any condition or location, such as in coves, contours and architectural details. 10 HYDRALUX A quality comparison T5 fluorescent tubes: large form factor and low efficiency The difference is immediately apparent: unpleasant dark spots interfere with the lighting. Often fluorescent tubes are placed transversely side by side to get a better light line. This is usually not possible because of the narrow space in the cove. Generic LED strip*: small form factor and low light quality Due to poor binning not all LEDs on the generic LED-strip have the same light color. Some are warmer, others are cooler all in all the illumination is not balanced and not homogeneous. 13 HYDRALUX perfect for professional cove lighting Indirect lighting is increasingly being used in many types of applications. Professionally designed cove lighting illuminates rooms with atmospheric, diffuse light and a pleasant effect. With HYDRALUX we go one step further and also offer the opportunity to use the cove as an instrument of general lighting for your premises. Our lighting solution is a symbiosis of homogeneous light and great color consistency(onebinonly)insideyourdesired color temperature (2,000 K to 5,000 K) at levels of luminance from 644 lm/m (196 lm/ft) to 1,821 lm/m (555 lm/ft). The technical design of the luminaire has been evolved to be field cuttable at the construction site and in this case to ensure easy installation. The narrow dimensions of 12.5 mm x 3.5 mm (W x H) / 0.49 "x 0.13" (W x H) allow the installation of the luminaire even in the smallest space. HYDRALUX is cuttable every 62.6 mm / 2.45 (HD) or every 125 mm / 4.91'' (LD) and can be electrically connected via the connector application. This enables to adapt the luminaire length to your wishes and to optimally utilize the available space. 13

14 HYDRALUX vs. Generic LED-strip Set accents through decorative cove lighting The decorative cove lighting with HYDRALUX uses indirect lighting to emphasize special ceilings, set accents and let the room appear larger. Shadows and unpleasant glare are avoided. HYDRALUX impresses with a completely homogeneous and color consistent light output from the cove without shadows between two luminaires, as is often the case with fluorescent tubes or generic LED strips. In many applications, the decorative cove lighting contributes to a pleasant atmosphere, such as in restaurants, hotels, showrooms and exhibitions. 15 HYDRALUX vs. T5 fluorescent tube Light intensive cove for general lighting In the cove HYDRALUX can be used as a decorative design element, but depending on the chosen configuration it also can be a high-intensity instrument for general illumination. Up to 1,650 lumens per meter exit the cove and generate much higher illuminance levels (=lx) than other technologies, such as the fluorescent tube with a 360 radiation. Moreover you can now break free from the idea of fixed lengths with different lumen packages. HYDRALUX is freely configurable, cuttable every 62.5 mm / 2.45 (HD) or every 125 mm / 4.91'' (LD) and delivers on each of these sections of the same lumen package. The maximum length ranges from 4.5 m to 7.5 m in one piece, this reduces the assembly effort to a minimum. Our efficient lighting solution saves up to 50% energy and convinces with a lifetime 300% higher than that of the fluorescent technology. In the long run this saves a lot of costs for maintenance and energy. "One Bin Only" (see page 6) ensures impressive color consistency, which creates an absolutely peaceful room setting. 16 HYDRALUX = IP67 A solution for indoor and outdoor use A specially developed polyurethane encapsulation protects the HYDRALUX against a wide variety of environmental influences and makes it to an absolute all-rounder in the outdoor and indoor use. Wherever protection is essential, this lighting solution shows its advantages. Through the encapsulated surface, the luminaire is, for example, easy to clean, as is necessary in refrigerated counters. Thus it meets the advanced hygiene requirements in these areas. For further fields of application, please refer to the next page. HYDRALUX has a very high resistance in harsh climatic conditions and is resistant to salt water, chlorine, solvents and UV radiation. With encapsulated connector the whole system has IP67, without encapsulated connector it has a protection of IP40. 18 HYDRALUX Assembly information Easy assembly and installation Check correct polarity Unroll the tape and cut it at the desired length in the middle between the steps. Make sure that a minimum bending radius of 3 cm (1.18 ) is observed. Insert the tape into the lower part of the two-part connector. The correct polarity must be strictly observed. Place the upper part of the connector on the lower part of the connector Now click together the upper and the lower part of the connector. Make sure that no gaps occur at the sides. The product is now ready to be connected in indoor areas. To achieve IP67 protection, the connector needs to be filled with a sealant, which can be filled in with a syringe through a filling hole on the underside of the connector. (Accessory Art. # ) IP67 IP67 The filling must be done carefully and slowly. When filling material comes out of the small hole, the connector is fully filled with sealant. The sealant has dried after 2 hours and is completely hardened after 8 hours To ensure an IP67 protection at the other end of the product, the end cap must also be sealed. IP67 By applying the connector on one side and attaching the end cap on the other side, the product is ready for connection. The attachment of HYDRALUX can be done with the VarioClips (Art. # ). 20 HYDRALUX Optional control units and protocols Depending on the used HYDRALUX luminaire (White, RGB) or depending on the desired function of the luminaire, it is necessary to additionally use a control unit for constant voltage supply. This control unit is required to dim the luminaire or to be able to set a color gradient, and operates between constant voltage supply and luminaire. 21 HYDRALUX Power supply A HYDRALUX luminaire is normally provided with an open end of the cable to feed the electric current. Electrification and maintenance must be carried out only by trained specialist personnel with appropriate professional qualifications in accordance with the latest electrical installation and safety regulations. In order to electrify the HYDRALUX with ready, open cable end proceed as follows: 1. 24V, external protection class I or II. Constant voltage supply with terminals for connecting the luminaire with open cable ends. 2. Connect the open cable ends of the HYDRALUX luminaire with the connection terminals of the 24V constant-voltage supply.makesurethatthesupplylines are connected to the corresponding terminal of the voltage supply. Please note the data sheet of the power supply and the HYDRALUX. 3. Connect the external 24V constantvoltage supply to the electricity network. Please pay attention to the details given in the data-sheet specifications and instructions before connecting the constant voltage supply to the electricity network. The power supply of HYDRALUX happens externally via our VarioPSU units. These are operating devices that convert the alternating current (e.g. 220V AC) into direct current (DC 24V). All LED lamps used in the HYDRALUX are operated at 24V constant voltage supplies. To ensure the correct and proper operation of the luminaire please use only devices approved by LED Linear. In order to ensure the proper operation of the luminaire system (constant voltage supply + luminaire), we dimension the power supplies to the effect that they have at least about 10% more power than the absorbed power of the luminaire. Example: If you want to operatehydraluxluminaireswith a total power consumption of 90 watts, use an operating device with a minimum output of 99 watts here. 22 Safety information The luminaires of the brand LED Linear, are luminaires of protection class II or protection class III. This means that the protection is not based solely on basic insulation, but additional or reinforced insulation is provided or no protective conductor connection is available. Please remember that it is absolutely necessary to break the mains voltage before beginning any installation, inspection, maintenance or cleaning of the luminaire. Installation and maintenance of the lamp shall only be carried out by trained personnel with adequate professional qualifications in accordance with the latest electrical installation and safety regulations. For the installation and operation of this luminaire, national safety regulations must be considered. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage caused by improper use or installation. If modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for the modification, shall be considered as manufacturer. These have a strong effect on the lumen output, the color consistency, the lifetime and the efficiency of the LED module. The goal of thermal management is to deliver the generated heat as quickly as possible to the environment. Realizing this, we developed the established TJ-Away (thermal junction away) printed circuit board technology, which removes the evolving heat optimally. In the construction of HYDRALUX special attention was paid to the thermal optimization of the luminaire in order to be able to use even our most powerful LEDs. The resulting heat is emitted by TJ-away to the anodized aluminum profile, however, removed from the profile itself to the environment. The cooler an LED is operated, the more efficiently it operates. Be assured that the specified LED Linear lumen currents of the individual products are measured exclusively in a thermally stable state. The life of our HYDRALUX is 60,000 L80 B10. This means that after an operating time of 60,000 hours 80% of the original lumen stream are still available.
