The program will feature noted artist, Marge Gray, doing a Greek Street scene in oils. Ms. Gray, recently returned from her travels in Greece, is a part owner in Gray s gallery in Escondido. Guild members will hang a new show in Ecke Hall during September. This meeting is open to the public, and refreshments are served. SD Art Guild will meet this Monday Marge Gray will be the demonstrator for the Nov. 7 meeting of the San Dieguito Art Guild, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Gray is a well-known water colorist and has her own gallery and frame shop in Escondido. Her demonstration will feature the art of framing and matting paintings. The monthly membership show of the guild will display one wall of miniatures which will be judged separately, with ribbons awarded in the various media. Dorothe Reavell will have an all-batik show featured in her studio, in her gallery. Nov. 15 thru De. 15, guild members will once again have a special art exhibit in the lobby of the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach. ARTIST KAREN BRAMBRICK Karen Bambrick watercolors at S&L Among a selected group of watercolors by Karen Colby Bambrick, currently on exhibit at Fallbrook s Oceanside Federal Savings and Loan, are two paintings about which Del Mar art critic Kathryn Callahan recently wrote: A pair of watercolors depicting Vietnamese Children at Camp Pendleton, expertly drafted by Karen Colby Bambrick could become collectors items of historical significance. Bambrick s paintings have won many awards, have been hung in several major museums and are purchased by collectors, locally, and throughout the U.S. For these honors she is humbly grateful, but states that these are not of primary importance to her. What then, could be so vitally important to this artist? Please forgive my soapbox, she apologizes, but I fervently wish that something in my paintings might communicate, might elicit in the viewer a greater resolve to reach out a hand to those less fortunate fellow human beings, to love and care for the unwanted or harassed animal, and to aid and support those who are working to halt man s relentless annihilation of the irreplaceable wild creatures of earth and ocean. This is important, for all of us, for all time. SEPT. 79 THROUGH NOV 70.
