Measure your template before you sew! PDF pattern is full size and should measure 12 x 12. If it does not, check your printer settings ( fit to page turned OFF!) and print again. Cut: Light Turquoise (A) 12 ½ x 1 ½ (B) 11 ½ x 1 ½ Light Denim (C) 11 ½ x 1 ½ (D) ½ x 1 ½ (O) 1 ½ x 2 ½ (P) 2 ½ x 6 ½ (R) 1 ½ x 3 ½ Dark Gold (K) 4 x 5 ½ (L) 3 ¼ x 5 ½ Light Yellow (E) 2 ½ x 2 ½ cut 2 (F) 1 ½ x 1 ½ cut 2 (G) 1 ½ x 2 ½ cut 2 (H) 1 ½ x 4 ½ cut 2 Orange (J) 3 x 5 ½ (M) 2 ¾ x 5 ½ Turquoise (I) 2 ½ x 5 ½ (N) 2 ½ x 4 ½ Sew: Unit #1 1. Stitch one each 11 ½ x 1 ½ (B) Light Turquoise and (C) Light Denim strips along long side right sides together (RST). Press. 2. On wrong side of (E) Light Yellow 2 ½ square, draw diagonal line from corner to corner. Referring to Diagram A place on the end of the (B-C) strip sewn in Step 1. Stitch on the drawn line. Trim seam to ¼. Flip to form triangle. Press. Sew (G) Light Yellow 1 ½ x 2 ½ rectangle to this unit. Press. Page 1 of 2

2 Block 6: Canyonlands - Quilts For Kids Palette 12 x 12 finished 3. Using the same method draw diagonal line on (F) Light Yellow 1 ½ square and stitch onto (D) Light Denim 8 ½ x 1 ½ strip. Trim, flip, press. Referring to Diagram A, attach (H) Light Yellow 1 ½ x 4 ½ strip. Sew (A) Light Turquoise strip to top of BCEG segment. Press. Attach (DFH) segment. Press. Set Unit #1 aside. Unit #2 4. Referring to Diagram B, assemble (I-J-K) to make Unit #2. Press. Set aside. Unit #3 5. Sew (L) Dark Gold to (M) Orange. Press. Sew (O) Light Denim to (N) Turquoise. Press. Referring to Block Layout, sew these segments together. Press. Set aside. Unit #4 6. Draw diagonal line from corner to corner on wrong side of (E) Light Yellow 2 ½ square. Referring to diagram, place right side together with (P) Light Denim rectangle. Stitch on line. Trim seam allowance, flip, and press. Sew (G) Light Yellow to (P-E) segment 7. As in previous step, draw diagonal line on (F) Light Yellow 1 ½ square. Referring to diagram, place right sides together with (R) Light Denim rectangle. Sew (H) Light Yellow to (F-R) segment. 8. Sew (P-E-G) segment to (H-F-R) segment. 9. Referring to Illustration, join Unit #3 to Unit #4. Press. Join Unit #2. Press. Add Unit #1. Press. Block should measure 12 ½ x 12 ½ (12 finished). Referring to Diagram A, attach (H) Light Orange 1 ½ x 4 ½ strip. Sew (A) Light Turquoise strip to top of BCEG segment. Press. Attach (DFH) segment. Press. Set Unit #1 aside. Unit #2 4.
