2 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 2 of 7 Cutting Cutting Instructions Please note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge. WOF= Width of Fabric LOF = Length of Fabric Fabric A ( Damask Gray), cut: (1) 2 ½ x WOF strip. Sub-cut (8) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. Fabric B ( Small Hearts Red), cut: (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips and (5) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (10) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. (9) 1 ½ x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 1 ½ x 84 ½ strips and (2) 1 ½ x 82 ½ strips. Fabric C ( Damask Red), cut: (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips and (5) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (10) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. (6) 4 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (50) 4 ½ squares. Fabric D ( Paint Daubs Gray), cut: (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (4) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (1) 2 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (4) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. Fabric E ( Mini Hearts Red), cut: (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (1) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strip, (1) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strip and (1) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strip. Fabric F ( Small Medallions Pink), cut: (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (8) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (2) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (8) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (16) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. Fabric G ( Small Medallions Pink), cut: (6) 4 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (50) 4 ½ squares. Fabric H ( Damask Pink), cut: Fabric I ( Mini Hearts Gray), cut: (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (6) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips and (6) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (9) 4 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (132) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. (15) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (240) 2 ½ squares. Fabric J ( Large Hearts Red), cut: Fabric K ( Paint Daubs Pink), cut: (1) 8 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips and (5) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (1) 4 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut (10) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips.

Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 2 ½ x 90 ½ strips and (2) 2 ½ x 82 ½ strips. (9) 2 ½ x WOF strips for the binding. Fabric M (1351-Pigment White Just Color! Pigment White), cut: (6) 8 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (50) 4 ½ x 8 ½ strips. (12) 4 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (100) 4 ½ squares. (28) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (440) 2 ½ squares. (8) 4 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut (120) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. Backing ( Small Medallions - White), cut: (3) 94 x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 94 x 98 for the backing. Sewing Sew using a ¼ seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows. Block Assembly 1. Place (1) 2 ½ Fabric M square on the left side of (1) 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric I strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. Fig. 1 Fig Place another 2 ½ Fabric M square on the right side of the 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric M strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to make (1) MIM unit. Fig. 3 Fig Repeat Steps 1-2 to make (120) MIM units. 4. Repeat Steps 1-2 using (120) 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric M strips and (240) 2 ½ Fabric I squares to make (120) IMI units (Fig. 5). 5. Sew (1) MIM unit and (1) IMI unit together to make (1) Fabric I sashing block (Fig 6). Repeat to make (120) Fabric I sashing blocks total. Fig. 5 Fig. 6

4 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 4 of 7 6. Repeat Steps 1-2 using (50) 4 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric M strips, (50) 4 ½ Fabric C squares and (50) 4 ½ Fabric G squares to make (50) GMC units (Fig. 7). Fig Repeat Steps 1-2 using (8) 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric A strips and (16) 2 ½ Fabric M squares to make (8) small MAM units (Fig. 8). 8. Repeat Steps 1-2 using (4) 4 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric A strips and (8) 4 ½ Fabric M squares to make (4) large MAM units (Fig. 9). 9. Sew (2) small MAM units, (1) 2 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric A strip and (1) large MAM unit together to make (1) A-heart (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (4) A-hearts. Fig. 8 Fig. 9 Fig Repeat Steps 7-9 to make the designated number of heart blocks: (5) B-hearts, (5) C-hearts, (4) D-hearts, (1) E-heart, (8) F-hearts, (4) G-hearts, (4) H-hearts, (6) I-hearts, (4) J-hearts and (5) K-hearts (Fig. 11). Fig Sew (20) Fabric I sashing blocks together, end to end, to make (1) Fabric I sashing strip (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (6) Fabric I sashing strips total. Fig Sew (10) GMC units together, end to end, to make (1) GMC sashing strip (Fig. 13). Repeat to make (5) GMC sashing strips total. Fig. 13

5 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 5 of 7 Quilt Top Assembly 13. Sew (10) assorted heart blocks together to make (1) row. Repeat to make (5) rows total. 14. Sew (6) Fabric I sashing strips, (5) heart rows and (5) GMC sashing strips together to make the center block (Fig. 14). Fig. 14

Sew (1) 2 ½ x 90 ½ Fabric L strip to each side of the center block to make the quilt top (Fig. 16). Fig. 16 Layering, Quilting and Finishing 17. Press the quilt top and 94 x 98 backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding 18. Cut the ends of the (9) Fabric L binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make (1) continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. 19. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place Studio e Fabrics
