2 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 2 of 5 Cutting Cutting Instructions Please note: all strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge. WOF= Width of Fabric LOF = Length of Fabric Fabric A ( Words Black), cut: (2) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut into (4) 2 ½ x 12 ½ strips, (4) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips and (3) 2 ½ squares. Fabric B ( Snowflake Polka Dot Black), cut: (2) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut into (4) 2 ½ x 8 ½ strips and (6) 2 ½ squares. Fabric C ( Snowflake Polka Dot Silver Blue), cut: (1) 3 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (4) 3 ½ squares. (1) 2 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (4)2 ½ x 6 ½ strips and (6) 2 ½ squares. Fabric D (2210M-99 Swirly Snowflake Black), cut: (3) 3 ½ x WOF strips. Piece and trim to make (2) 3 ½ x 56 ½ strips. (1) 3 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (2) 3 ½ x 14 ½ strips. Fabric E ( Snowflake Polka Dot Pearl), cut: (2) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut into (8) 2 ½ x 6 ½ strips and (8) 2 ½ squares. Fabric F (2210M-11 Swirly Snowflake Silver Blue), cut: (4) 2 ½ x WOF strips, sub-cut into (8) 2 ½ x 6 strips, (8) 2 ½ x 5 ½ strips and (8) 2 ½ x 3 ½ strips. Fabric G ( Words Silver), cut: (1) 2 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (8) 2 ½ x 4 ½ strips. Fabric H (Pirouette 2113 Midnight), cut: (1) 1 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (4) 1 ½ x 2 ½ strips. (5) 2 ½ x WOF strips for the binding. Fabric I (Pirouette 2113 Titanium), cut: (1) 2 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (4) 2 ½ x 10 ½ strips. Fabric J (Just Color! 1351 Charcoal), cut: (3) 1 ½ x WOF strips. Piece the strips together to make (2) 1 ½ x 56 ½ strips. (1) 1 ½ x WOF strip, sub-cut into (2) 1 ½ x 12 ½ strips and (3) 2 ½ squares. Backing (Charleston wide), cut: (1) 24 x 66 piece for the backing.

3 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 3 of 5 Sewing Sew using a ¼ seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows. Block Assembly 1. Sew one 2 ½ x 6 Fabric F strip to each side of one 1 ½ x 2 ½ Fabric H strip to make one tree trunk (Fig. 1). Repeat to make four tree trunks units total. 2. Place one 2 ½ Fabric E square on the left side of one 2 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric A strip, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the Fabric E square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 3). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. Fig. 1 Fig Place another 2 ½ Fabric E square on the right side of the 2 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric A strip, right sides together (Fig. 4). Sew across the diagonal of the Fabric E square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 4). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 5). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to complete Row 1 of the tree. 4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make four Row 1 units total. 5. Place one 2 ½ x 3 ½ Fabric F strip on the left side of one 2 ½ x 10 ½ Fabric I strip, right sides together as shown in Figure 6. Sew across the diagonal of the square formed by the two overlapping fabrics from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 6). Flip open the Fabric F strip and press (Fig. 7). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. 6. Place another 2 ½ x 3 ½ Fabric F strip on the right side of the 2 ½ x 10 ½ Fabric I strip, right sides together (Fig. 8). Sew across the diagonal of the square formed by the two overlapping fabrics from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 8). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 9). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to complete Row 2 of the tree. 7. Repeat Steps 5-6 to make four Row 2 units total. 8. Repeat Steps 5-6 using eight 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric G strips and four 2 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric B strips to make four Row 3 Units total (Fig. 10). Sew one 1 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric J strip to each side of the runner top. Sew one 1 ½ x 56 ½ Fabric J strip to the top and bottom of the runner top (Fig. 16). Fig. 16

Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste.

5 STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 5 of Sew one 3 ½ x 14 ½ Fabric D strip to each side of the runner top. 16. Sew one 3 ½ Fabric C square to each end of one 3 ½ x 56 ½ Fabric D strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the runner top (Fig. 17). Fig. 17 Layering, Quilting and Finishing 17. Cut one 24" x 66" strip for the backing. 18. Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding 19. Cut the ends of the five binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. 20. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place. Every effort has been made to ensure that all projects are error free.
