2 Hints and tips: Always use different scissors for cutting paper and fabric. Cutting paper will dull a good fabric scissors Please read entire pattern through to the end before making the Gnome. Materials: Red felt - 1 A4 sheet Grey felt - 1 A4 sheet White embroidery thread/floss White felt - small scrap White fun fur for the beard - scrap Toy filler Tools: Needle Paper and fabric scissors pins A4 paper & printer How to make: Print out the gnome pattern at the end of this e-pattern on A4 paper at 100% Cut out each of the felt pieces in the amounts written on the patterns. Body & base in the grey felt, hat in the red felt and nose from the white felt. I have left the colours off the pattern pieces as you may want to use your own colours. 3 Sew along the sides and the top of the body section using the blanket stitch and the white embroidery thread/floss. Note: I used 3 strands of the embroidery thread/floss. Cut the scrap of white fun fur in to the shape of a beard as shown in the image. Sew in place onto one side of the body only, along the top of the beard line. Stitch used - back stitch. Work a running stitch around the circle nose piece of felt and pull to gather, Stuff with the filler and work a few back stitches to secure and finish. 3

4 Sew the nose onto the beard and front of the body section as shown in the image. Blanket stitch the sides of the red gnome hat with the white embroidery thread/floss. Place the hat on to the top of the gnome s body and position over the top of the beard, above the nose. Sew in position. Note: Make sure to sew around the base of the hat and not to sew the body front and back pieces together. They need to be left open for stuffing. 4

5 Using a running stitch gather the base of the gnome body, leaving enough space to fit a finger in. Secure the thread firmly. Stuff the gnome body, gently but firmly as you don t want to pop the running stitch. Place the base of the gnome body over the stuffed and gathered area and sew in place. 5
