Materials to make Valentine Boy: * Red felt with matching thread. * Flesh tone felt with matching thread. * White with red polka dots felt scrap size. * White felt with matching thread scrap size. * Yellow felt scrap size. * Brown thread. * Pink thread. * Pipe Cleaner. * Red/White or Pink paint. * Hobby fibre Fill (Stuffing). Equipment required: * Sewing needles. * Pins. * Ruler. * Black fine tip marker. * Craft glue/glue gun. * Fine pointed scissors. * Sticky tape for placing over pattern pieces on felt while cutting. * Tracing paper. * Chopsticks or pointy tool. Stitches used in this pattern: * Overcast Stitch. * Applique Stitch. * Back Stitch. * Straight Stitch. Please read through and understand instructions first before starting. Valentine Boy is approx. 12cm H x 11cm W x 4cm D NOTE: 2 x thread flosses are used from each cut to with unless specified. 2

3 Straight Tracing paper with outline of face Back Stitch Back Stitch Back Stitch 5mm Applique Cut centre out of 1 of the heart body pieces Glue Curl so it runs along the top Tracing paper with outline Back embroidery Take the tracing paper and place on top of the face piece where the template is and trace onto the tracing paper using the fine tip marker. Now pin to the flesh tone face piece and press lightly through the tracing paper using the marker to make a faint imprint. Take the brown thread and the eye brows on using straight, then the eyes and lashes using back. Take the pink thread and back the mouth on. Take the 3 yellow hair pieces and one of the red heart body pieces and cut the centre out as per template. Lightly glue the three yellow hair pieces inside on the upper edge of the cut out centre about 5mm past the edge. Place the face on the inside and applique the face to the centre cut out piece of the heart body from the outside using red thread. Stitch right around. Then roll each of the yellow hair pieces up, lightly gluing along the top side so the curl doesn t come undone. Roll right up to the face. Take some tracing paper and trace the vine and heart embroidery template onto the tracing paper and pin this over the heart body on the right side as pictured and trace through onto felt lightly to give a light imprint. Back outline with red thread. 3

4 Lightly glue in centre to hold in place Overcast Overcast Pipe cleaner Overcast Back heart body piece Lightly glue Stuffing Overcast Take white red polka dot heart and put a light bit of glue on the back and glue it into position as pictured. Put the arms in place and using flesh tone thread, overcast them as pictured with part of the arm clutching the heart. Take the white leg and a piece of pipe cleaner and lay the pipe cleaner on one side as pictured. Fold the other side over and pipe cleaner and overcast up to the opening at the top of the leg. Cut any excess pipe cleaner that is sticking out of the top of the leg once ed. Repeat for other leg. Take the back heart body piece and lay the legs into place as pictured. Lightly glue to help with the ing process. Place the front heart body piece over the top of the back body piece with legs in between and line up evenly. Start overcast ing using red thread right around the body but leaving roughly 3-4cm gap to fill body with stuffing until firm but not over full. Stitch up the remaining hole. 4
