1 CABLE CONTRAST SWEATER This unisex sweater is a flat, bottom-up straight pullover, with drop shoulders; worked in four panels. It features full-length narrow tapered sleeves, a front and back cabled panel, round crew front and high round back neck shaping, and a double-band collar. The bottoms of the sweater and the sleeves have ribbed hems. Size: Sm/Med Child Yarn: Main Caron One Pound; Midnight Blue (546); 4-Ply, 100% Acrylic Worsted Weight Contrasting Coats & Clark Red Heart 0312 Black, 4-Ply, 100% Acrylic Worsted Weight 7oz Loom: Knifty Knitter 22 Blue Long Loom (62 pegs, 30 per side) Knifty Knitter 10 Pink Long Loom (26 pegs, 12 per side) Gauge: Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 11.0sts by 14.0 rows. Other Materials Needed: Loom Hook Large blunt tip needle 2sz F crochet hooks 1sz K crochet hook 2med sz pens 20sm gold safety pens Note: Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to knit. At most, 30 needles are required to make this garment. Back (worked in 2 panels): Panel A 1. Cast on 30sts in MY, using Figure 8 cast-on method. Work in rib stitch for 10 rows. 2. Change to Stocking Stitch, set RC at 000. Work 57 rows; mark the 37 th row on left side for armhole. 3. Shape neck (yarn should be on the left side). a. Knit 13sts; bind off 14sts (starting at end furthest away from previously knitted 13sts), place last loop on back 13 th post. b. Knit 12sts (dec 1st at neck edge).

2 Panel B c. Knit 1 row even (60 rows total). Bind off & weave in end. d. Reattach yarn to opposite side, knit last 3sts. e. Dec 1st at neck edge, knit remaining sts. f. Knit 1 row even (60 rows total). Bind off. 1. Cast on 10sts in CY, using Figure 8 cast-on method. Work in rib stitch for 10 rows. 2. Change to Stocking Stitch, set RC at 000. Knit 1 row, purl 1 row, then knit 1 row Stitch Cable (work pattern on one side only) a. Knit 1 row. b. Using 2 F crochet hooks, place st 4 onto peg 2 and sts 2, 3 onto pegs 3, 4. c. Place st 7 onto peg 9 and sts 8, 9 onto pegs 7, 8. d. Knit 2 rows. e. Repeat b-d for pattern, 25 times more. 4. Purl 1 row, and then knit 1 row. (60 rows total) 5. Bind off stitches. Mark row 37 th row on right side for armhole. Attach panels A & B together, using an invisible stitch. Front (worked in 2 panels): Panel A 1. Cast on 30sts in CY, using Figure 8 cast-on method. Work in rib stitch for 10 rows. 2. Change to Stocking Stitch, set RC at 000. Work 51 rows; mark the 37 th row on right side for armhole. 3. Shape neck (yarn should be on the left side). a. Count off 16sts fm the right and mark 16 th st w/gold safety pin (on top of the loop). b. Count off 6sts fm the left and mark 6 th st same as 16 th st. c. Bind off 8sts between 2 pins, place last loop on back 6 th post; knit 6sts. d. Dec 1 st at neck edge on every row 4 times, until 2sts remain. e. Knit 4 rows even (60 rows total). Bind off & weave in end. f. Reattach yarn to opposite side; knit remaining 15sts. g. Dec 1 st at neck edge on every row 4 times, until 12sts remain. h. Knit 4 rows even (60 rows total). Bind off & weave in end.

3 Panel B 1-4 Follow steps 1-4, as for back Panel B. 5. Bind off stitches. Mark row 37 th row on left side for armhole. Attach panels A & B together, using an invisible stitch. Sleeves (make 2): 1. Cast on 22sts in CY, using Figure 8 cast-on method. Work in rib stitch for 5 rows. 2. Change to MY and Stocking Stitch; knit 1 row. Set RC at Inc 1 st at each end of every 10 th row 4 times to 30sts (40 rows total). 4. Work even to total 45 rows, not counting hem. 5. Cast off loosely. Attaching body to sleeves: 1. Sew left and right shoulder seams. 2. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. 3. Sew side and sleeve seams. Weave in all loose ends. Collar: 1. Using K crochet hook, attach CY and sc 1 row around neck opening; slip stitch to join. Fasten off and weave in end. 2. Part A 3. Part B a. Using anchor yarn method; cast on 28sts in CY; knit 20 rows in rib stitch. b. Cast off loosely, weave in end. Cast off opposite side loosely and remove anchor yarn. a. Using anchor yarn method; cast on 27sts in CY; knit 20 rows in rib stitch. b. Cast off loosely, weave in end. Cast off opposite side loosely, do not cut yarn. c. Measure off yarn 3.5 times the length of piece; cut and pull through last loop. 4. Sew Part A & B together, then sew collar in place along the neckline. 5. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends. Finishing/Blocking 1. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on low/knit setting to block. 2. Fold collar in half.
