1 Loom knit this patch of charming pumpkins in your favorite fall colors. Use your creativity and change yarn, loom or number of rows knit to create your own unique pumpkin patch. Only small amounts of yarn are needed for pumpkins 1-6; pumpkins 7 and 8 use less than one skein each. 1 Approximately 2 1/2" [6.5 cm] wide 1 1/2" [4 cm] high ABBREVIATIONS ch chain; cm centimeter(s); ea each; g gram(s); m meter; rnd(s) round(s); sc single crochet; yd(s) yard(s); SPECIAL STITCHES U-knit Purl Drawstring Cast On Gathered Bind Off Flat Panel Bind Off I-cord Crochet: chain and single crochet Note: U-knit stitch is used for all knit stitches on all pumpkins. GAUGE Gauge is not critical for these projects Rnd 2: Purl. Repeat Rnds 1-2 for 30 rounds. Cut yarn leaving a 24" [61 cm] tail. Bind off using Gathered Bind Off, but do not cinch closed. Cinch bottom of pumpkin and secure opening by stitching back and forth; weave in tail. Stuff pumpkin firmly with poly-fill then pull yarn tail until top is completely closed; fasten off securely. Thread tail onto yarn needle and bring tail around pumpkin to bottom. Insert yarn needle into bottom center of pumpkin and push needle to center top and pull gently to form rib. Sew securely. Repeat three more times to divide pumpkin into four sections. Fasten off and insert remaining tail into center of pumpkin to hide. Using contrast color yarn and crochet hook, ch 6 leaving an 8" [20 cm] beginning tail. Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across 5 sc. Fasten off leaving an 8" [20 cm] tail. Fold piece in half. Thread tail onto needle and sew ends together then push tail through pumpkin to bottom. Repeat with second tail being careful the tails are slightly separated. Tie tails together on bottom of pumpkin snugly so top and bottom are indented to form pumpkin shape. Fasten off and hide tails in pumpkin. Simplicity 2016 intended for personal use only 1

2 2 Approximately 2 1/2" [6.5 cm] wide 1 1/2" [4 cm] high Row 1: Knit. Repeat Rnd 1 for 20 rounds. Follow directions for #1 to stuff and close pumpkin. Do not divide into sections. Cut 2 pieces of contrast color yarn 18" [46 cm] long. Holding two strands together as one, tie knot in center of yarn. Continue knotting yarn until stalk is approximately 1/2" [1.5 cm] long or desired length. Thread two tails onto yarn needle and push through pumpkin from top to bottom. Repeat for other two tails being careful that tails are slightly separated. Tie tails together on bottom of pumpkin snugly so top and bottom are indented to form pumpkin shape. Fasten off and weave in remaining tails. 4 Repeat Rnd 1 for 25 rounds. Follow directions for #1 to stuff and divide pumpkin into 4 sections and create stalk. 3 Approximately 4" [10 cm] wide 3" [7.5 cm] high Approximately 2" [5 cm] wide 1 1/2" [6 cm] high Boye 24-peg Green Round Loom Rnd 1: *K2, P2; rep from * around. 3 With contrast color, cast on all pegs on small end of Spool Knitter leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Knit around for 1" [2.5 cm] or desired length. Bind off using Flat Panel Bind Off. Cut yarn leaving 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Stuff stalk lightly with poly-fill. Insert crochet hook into center bottom of pumpkin and push through to top of pumpkin. Loop one tail of stalk over crochet hook and pull through to bottom. Repeat with second tail being sure that tails are slightly separated. Knot tails tightly on bottom of pumpkin so top and bottom are indented to form pumpkin shape. Hide remaining tails inside pumpkin. With contrast color, cast on all pegs on small end of Spool Knitter. Knit 1 1/2" [4 cm] then follow finishing instructions for # Approximately 5" [12.5 cm] wide 3 1/2" [9 cm] high Approximately 5" [12.5 cm] wide 3 1/2" [9 cm] high Boye 24-peg Green Round Loom Rnd 1: K1, P3, *K1, P4; rep from * around. Repeat Rnd 1 for 26 rounds. Bind off using Gathered Bind Off leaving an 18" tail. Follow directions as for #3 to finish. Repeat Rnd 1 for 50 rounds. Follow directions for pumpkin #3 to finish. Spool Knitter leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Knit around for 1 1/2" [4 cm] or desired length. Bind off using Flat Panel Bind Off. Cut yarn leaving 12" tail. Stuff stalk lightly with poly-fill. Insert crochet hook into center bottom of pumpkin and push through to top of pumpkin. Loop one tail of stalk over crochet hook and pull through to bottom. Repeat with second tail being sure that tails are slightly separated. Knot tails tightly on bottom of pumpkin so top and bottom are indented to form pumpkin shape. 4 7 Spool Knitter. Knit around for 3 [7.5 cm] or desired length. Bind off using Flat Panel Bind Off. Cut yarn leaving 12 [30.5 cm] tail. Turn stalk inside out; thread beginning tail onto needle; weave along side of stalk and gather gently to form angle; fasten off. Turn tail right side out and stuff lightly with poly-fill; sew stalk to center top of pumpkin with remaining tail. Weave in remaining tails. 8 Approximately 5 1/2" [14 cm] wide 8" [20.5 cm] high Cast on all pegs using Drawstring Cast On and leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Rnd 1: *K3, P2, rep from * around. Repeat Rnd 1 for 50 rounds. Bind off using Gathered Bind Off. Cut yarn leaving an 8" [20.5 cm] tail. Before stuffing pumpkin, cut a 24" [61 cm] piece of yarn; loop yarn around either side of bottom center; tie in a knot to secure. Bring strands to top of pumpkin and firmly stuff around tails and making sure tails are visible before closing top. Close top of pumpkin securely then knot tails together gathering slightly to create pumpkin shape. Fasten off tightly and hide tails inside pumpkin. Approximately 8" [20.5 cm] wide 5" [12.5 cm] high Instructions Repeat Rnd 1 for 12" [30.5 cm] or desired length. Bind off using Gathered Bind Off. Cut yarn leaving an 8" [20.5 cm] tail. Closed bottom edge; stuff pumpkin firmly then close and secure top opening. Cut five pieces of yarn about 18" [46 cm] long. Insert crochet hook from bottom of pumpkin to top. Loop one piece of yarn over hook and pull through center of pumpkin; tie ends together tightly so pumpkin shape begins to form; hide ends inside pumpkin. Repeat 4 more times to create 5 ribs. 5 Spool Knitter leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail. Follow directions for #7 to shape and stuff stalk. Vine Approximately 3/4" [2 cm] wide 3 yd [2.75 m] long Any size loom With a smooth green yarn, cast on 2 pegs. Row 1: K first peg 2 times, K second peg; bring yarn behind pegs back to peg 1. Rep Row 1 until piece is 3 yd [2.75 m] long or desired length. Bind off. Note: Because peg 1 was knit twice on every row, the cord will be bumpy on one side and smooth on the other. FINISHING With a fluffy yarn in a different color green or brown, single crochet loosely along smooth side of cord. Fasten off. For added interest, knot small pieces of yarn intermittently along bumpy side of cord; cut ends about 1/2" [1.5 cm] long and allow to fray. Simplicity 2016 intended for personal use only 5
