Also Needed : 45 x 60 backing, 45 x 60 batting, scissors, straight pins, rotary cutter, acrylic ruler, and mat. * A piece of fabric 9 x 22 Note: Quilt will be constructed by vertical rows. As each is completed it will be sewn to the previous row. The top and bottom strips are assembled and added to the center piece. Directions: 1. Row #1: Top band - Cut (1) K1264 piece 1 1/2 x 9 1/2. Cut a 1 1/4 x 7 1/2 CJ4816 Primrose and K /4 x 2. Sew together. Add to the left side of K1264. Next sew together K /2 x 6 1/2 and K /2 x 3. Add to unit. Next sew together one MD4816 Coral 1 3/4 x 6 and K /4 x 3 1/2. Join to unit. Follow with a pieced strip of CJ4816 Mustard 1 1/2 x 7 and K /2 x 2 1/2. Finally sew together one K /2 x 7 1/4 and K /2 x 2 1/4. Sew completed 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 wide strip as shown to the top of one DC /2 x 42 1/2 panel. For the bottom unit piece together in the same order - one K /2 x 4 1/2, one CJ4816 Primrose 1 1/4 x 3 1/2 and K /4 x 1 1/2 strip, one K /2 x 3 3/4 and K /2 x 1 1/4, one MD4816 Coral 1 3/4 x 6 and K /4 to make 4 1/2 pieces. Follow with CJ /2 x 3 1/2 and K /2 piece to make 4 1/2. Sew completed 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 unit to the bottom of the panel. 2. Row #2: Sew one K /2 x 6 1/2 piece to the bottom of one DC /2 strip. Sew one K /2 x 7 1/2 to the top of the strip. Sew to the right side of the 6 1/2 panel reversing the direction of the 2 1/2 strip. Set aside. 3. Row #3: The top unit measures 8 1/2 W x 4 1/2 H. Sew together strips of color and Navy to make 4 1/2 lengths. Assemble in the following order - CM /4 x 2 1/4 + Navy (K2264) to make 4 1/2. CJ4816 Mustard 1 1/4 x 3 3/4 + Navy, K x 4 1/2, CJ4816 Primrose 2 x 3 1/2 + Navy, K /2 x 2 3/4 Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 2 + Navy, and K x 4 1/2. Sew to the top of DC /2 x 42 1/2 piece. For the bottom, which measures 8 1/2 x 9 1/2, combine in order - CM /4 x 6 1/2 + Navy, CJ4816 Mustard 1 1/4 x 6 3/4 + Navy, K x 9 1/2, CJ4816 Primrose 2 x 5 3/4 + Navy to measure 9 1/2, K /2 x 4 1/2 + Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 8 + Navy, and K x 5 1/4 + Navy. Sew to the right side of Row #2. 4. Row #4: Sew one K /2 x 10 1/2 piece to the bottom of one DC /2 x 42 1/2 piece. Sew one K /2 x 3 1/2 piece to the top. Sew to the right side of Row #3. Reversing the direction of the strip as in Step # 2.

5 5. Row #5: The top band measures 6 1/2 H x 5 1/2 W and the bottom band 7 1/2 H x 5 1/2 W. Add enough K2264 to the end of each colored strip to measure 6 1/2 for the top and 7 1/2 for the bottom as done previously. Top - CM /4 x 5 + Navy, K /4 x 6 1/2, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 4 + Navy, CJ4816 Primrose 1 1/4 x 3 + Navy, and CJ4816 Mustard 1 3/4 x 4 + Navy. Sew to the top of the DC /2 x 42 1/2 panel. For the bottom unit - CM /4 x 3 1/4 + Navy to make 7 1/2, K /4 x 7 1/2, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 6 3/4 + Navy, CJ4816 Primrose 1 1/4 x 4 3/4 + Navy and CJ4816 Mustard 1 3/4 x 4 1/4 + Navy. Sew to the bottom of the DC /2 panel. Sew to the right side of the quilt. 6. Row #6: Repeat Step #2 and #4 using K /2 x 4 1/2 piece at the bottom of the DC /2 x 42 1/2 strip. Add the K /2 x 9 1/2 piece to the top. Reverse the direction and sew to the right side of the quilt. 7. Row #7: The top border measures 2 1/2 x H x 9 1/2 W and the bottom border measures 11 1/2 H x 9 1/2 W. For the top sew together in order (1) K x 2 1/2, K /2 x 2 + Navy, CJ4816 Primrose 2 x 1 3/4 + Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 2 1/2, CJ4816 Mustard 2 1/2 x 1 1/4 + Navy, K /4 x 2 1/2, CM x 2 + Navy. Sew to the top of the DC /2 x 42 1/2 panel. For the bottom unit use K x 8 3/4 + Navy, K /2 x 7 1/2 + Navy, CJ4816 Primrose 2 x 3 1/2 + Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 1/2 x 8 1/4 + Navy, CJ4816 Mustard 2 x 6 + Navy, K /2 and CM x 7 1/2 + Navy. Sew to the bottom of the 9 1/2 panel. Sew panel to the right side of the quilt. 8. Row #8: Repeat Step #2, 4, 6, using K /2 x 7 1/2 piece for the bottom and K /2 x 6 1/2 for the top. Reverse and sew to the right side of the quilt. 9. Row #9: The unit at the top of the DC /2 x 42 1/2 panel measures 8 1/2 H x 7 1/2 W and the unit at the bottom is 5 1/2 H x 7 1/2 W. Sew together in the following order - K /4 x 8 1/2, CJ4816 Primrose 1 1/4 x 6 1/2 + Navy, K /2 x 7 3/4 + Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 3/4 x 7 + Navy, CM /4 x 6 1/4 + Navy, CJ4816 Mustard 1 1/4 x 5 + Navy, and K x 8 1/2. Sew to the top of the DC /2 x 42 1/2 strip. For the bottom sew together K /4 x 3 1/4 + Navy, CJ4816 Primrose 1 1/4 x 3 3/4 + Navy, K /2 x 5 1/2 + Navy, MD4816 Coral 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 + Navy, CM /4 x 3 3/4 + Navy, CJ4816 Mustard 1 1/4 x 4 1/4 + Navy, and K x 5 1/2. Sew to the bottom of the 7 1/2 DC7433 panel. Sew panel to the quilt to complete the top. 10. Layer backing, batting, and quilt top. Baste. 11. Quilt as desired. 12. Bind quilt using K /2 wide strips pieced as needed for length.
