1 Board of Directors Martin Brooks Chairman Martin Brooks is currently chairman of IDOX plc since 2005, a listed developer and supplier of specialist software and services to the public sector. Martin has spent much of his career in the media, information services and IT, much of it at the Financial Times until 1998, where as a group director and divisional chief executive he created its most profitable activity as world leader in securities valuation data. Amongst more recent roles, he has chaired the publishing arm of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and the trustees of the Camelot Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility charity of the National Lottery operator, tasked with helping disadvantaged young people. Martin went to school in Truro and Newquay and completed his education by serving with the 7 th Duke of Edinburgh s Own Gurkha Rifles for six years in the Asia Pacific region after graduating from Oxford University. He divides his time between Truro and London. Colin Jarvis Interim Chief Executive Officer Colin has had a successful career mainly in Local Government, working in the municipal engineering field. He started his career in 1969, working for consulting engineers, a water authority and District authorities including Poole, Weymouth and Portland, and East Dorset. After joining Cornwall County Council in 1988, he progressed to be Deputy Director of Planning Transportation and Estates. This role oversaw strategic policy development and programme delivery, as well as leading on major infrastructure projects which have brought significant improvements to Cornwall s communication infrastructure. He played a significant part in the Council s acquisition and operation of Newquay Cornwall Airport. During 2009, after leaving the Council, he has acted as both the Managing Director of Cornwall Airport Ltd as well as Interim CEO of Cornwall Development Company. He will now continue in the role of CEO of the Company.

2 Kevin Lavery Kevin joined Cornwall County Council in early November 2008, having been appointed to steer the transition to the new unitary council for Cornwall which came into being on 1 April He is a senior executive with extensive experience of both the public and private sectors. He has been a client, adviser and provider at the highest levels in public sector outsourcing and partnerships. His early career was with Bexley, Kent and Westminster Councils and with Price Waterhouse. In 1997 he was appointed Chief Executive of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne. He left Newcastle in 2001 to be the founder Chief Executive of Agilisys, the e government company. This was followed by spells as a senior director at three large outsourcing companies - Enterprise, BT and Serco. Kevin has had non-executive board positions with Northumbria University and the Housing Corporation. Kevin was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and was educated at the universities of Manchester, Kent and Southern California. Andrew Honey Andrew Honey, who lives in Callington, has a strong background in engineering, sustainable energy, IT and e-commerce. As part of the inaugural Climate Change Leadership Programme he has specialised in advising businesses on the likely impacts of climate change. Steve McTear Steve McTeare, a Director of RLT Architects in Penzance, has considerable experience in residential development, industrial, commercial and retail projects both in the south east and in Cornwall including project management of Fistral Beach Newquay and feasibility schemes for the Leach Pottery St Ives.

3 James Staughton James Staughton, Managing Director of St Austell Brewery, is a former director of Cornwall Enterprise and previous Chair of the Cornwall Tourism Forum. St Austell Brewery is one of the largest companies in Cornwall with a presence throughout Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. James is well known in the County for his advocacy of quality tourism and his efforts with the anti-litter partnership Clean Cornwall. Tony Stuart Tony Stuart is a chartered accountant and former Managing Director at Rothschild, the leading UK investment bank, where he worked for more than 25 years. In the course of his career Tony has been a corporate finance adviser to many leading companies in the UK and overseas. Now a consultant at Rothschild, he continues to act as the adviser to a select group of UK corporates. He has also recently been appointed an independent Governor at University College Falmouth. Sarah Trethowan Sarah Trethowan is currently a Director with her husband Jonathan of TRAC Services, a Camborne based company who provide consultancy services to leading pharmaceutical companies. Sarah has been a public advocate of entrepreneurship in Cornwall and also sits on the board of the Camborne Pool Redruth Urban Regeneration Company. Alongside her husband Jonathan Trethowan they were both recently awarded Business Leader in the 2009 Cornwall Business Awards.

The services contained in this portfolio include economic development and regeneration, tourism - European issues, support to business, Newquay Airport, Cornwall Development Company, county farms. Carolyn Rule, the Conservative Councilor for Mullion, joined Cornwall Council in Graeme Hicks Council Elected Special Director Cabinet member for Highways, Transport and Planning. The services contained in this portfolio include transport and highways, street scene and strategic planning. Graeme Hicks, the Independent Councillor for Redruth South, joined Cornwall Council in Blair Thomson Blair Thomson is an author, journalist, broadcaster and entrepreneur with a lifetime of international experience in media and the commercial audio visual sector. He had a long career in management in ITV and BBC Radio and Television and later managed and owned multimedia and interactive new media companies. Blair was for several years a member of the Executive of the South West Regional Assembly and a director of the South West Forum and is currently Chair of the Cornwall Strategic Partnership, Chair of Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum, a director of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Learning Partnership Company and a member of the University of Exeter s Cornwall Advisory Board. He is also a member of the SW RDA and SW Government Office Joint European Convergence Programme Monitoring Committee and represents

5 Cornwall on the national European Social Fund Programme Monitoring Committee. His publications include "Ethiopia - the country that cut off its head" about the Ethiopian revolution and the ousting of Emperor Haile Selassie. He is a member of the Royal Television Society and an associate member of BAFTA. Blair has lived in Cornwall for almost 30 years, been married to Faith for almost 50 years, and in his spare time plays on-line computer games and spoils his eight grandchildren. Professor Alan Livingston CBE, DL, FCSD Alan Livingston was Rector of University College Falmouth. The College, which merged with Dartington College of Arts in April 2008, offers courses in Art, Design, Media and Performance. Courses at the Dartington Campus will relocate to Cornwall in An application for specialist Arts University status will be made in Alan has played a leading role in the development of the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC) since its inception and was Chair of the CUC Steering Group from He is currently Chair of the CUC Executive Group. He was Chair of Arts Council England, South West from and has been a member of the Royal Mail Stamp Advisory Committee since He is a Trustee of the Eden Project and is Chair of the Tate St Ives Advisory Council. Alan has recently been appointed to the Design Council, London. He was awarded the CBE for Services to Higher Education in January In 2007 he received the London Cornish Award for outstanding service to Cornwall and the people of Cornwall. He retired from University College Falmouth at the end of August 2009.
