4 Welcome from HBAV s 2018 and 2019 President Shawn Callahan 2018 HBAV President My wife, Kelly, and I would like to personally welcome each of you to the 2018 Annual Conference. It s an exciting time for the Home Builders Association of Virginia as we continue to grow, adapt, and continue our relevancy to the Building Industry. We have a very exciting Conference planned that includes events for all members of your family. Thank you for attending and supporting our Association. I am looking forward to visiting with each of you and enjoying our time at the Beautiful La Playa Beach and Golf Resort. Rob Frogale HBAV 2019 President Elect I would like to personally welcome each of you to the 2018 HBAV Annual Conference and Installation of Officers. It s an exciting time for HBAV as we continue to grow as the premier voice of the Home Building Industry in Virginia. This annual conference is a time to celebrate our achievements from the past year, make new friends and connections, and together work towards the future successes that HBAV can achieve. This wonderful organization and its accomplishments would not be possible without the generous support and dedication of its members, and I look forward to leading HBAV into its next chapter. As a state, we have a lot to be thankful and excited for in this upcoming year. During my term as President we will continually be striving to build upon a great platform to increase membership, create lasting impacts with the education foundation, and strengthen our grassroots political efforts with HBAV Build-PAC. 5 , Meet Our Speakers Robert Dietz, Ph.D., is Chief Economist for NAHB, where his responsibilities include housing market analysis, forecasting and industry surveys, and housing policy research. Prior to joining NAHB in 2005, Robert worked as an economist for the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. He has testified before Congress on housing, economic and tax issues. He is a leading expert on home construction analysis and trends and has been cited and appeared on CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, and other news media. Robert is a native of Dayton, Ohio and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Ohio State University in Robert Dietz Sean Tighe is Vice President, Lumber Division for Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation (LMC), based in Wayne, PA. Prior to his current post he held the position of Purchasing Manager, Commodity Lumber. Sean began his career at LMC in 1994 as a Lumber Buyer, and has subsequently traded every lumber species in the North American wood basket. His start in the industry was working with builders and contractors at an independent retail lumberyard in New Jersey. Sean holds an MS from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Susquehanna University. He resides in suburban Philadelphia with his wife and 2 children. Sean Tighe Darrell Green Darrell is best known as a former cornerback with the Washington Redskins. During his record-setting 20-year career with the team he came to be known and lovingly referred to as Mr. Redskin. Darrell is widely considered to be one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever play in the NFL. His on-field accomplishments include two Super Bowl victories, seven selections to the Pro Bowl, and four NFL Fastest Man competitions. In 1991, he was the World s Fastest Athlete. In 2008 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1998 Darrell founded the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation, a faith-based charitable organization, in an effort to "meet the needs of children, their families and the communities in which they live. Darrell is currently the Associate Athletics Director of George Mason University. Darrell and his wife Jewell have three children.
