1 Austrian Climate Change Workshop 2018 The way forward on Climate and Sustainable Finance Information on Speakers Day 1: Monday, 23 April 2018 Session 1: International climate finance: Making finance flows consistent with pathways to lowcarbon and climate-resilient development Gertraud Wollansky has been working for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism since 1993 on air quality and climate change issues. She is member of the Austrian delegation to the UNFCCC, chair of EU expert groups and UNFCCC negotiating groups and has key expertise in international climate finance, market mechanisms and climate change mitigation. Mrs. Wollansky has university degrees in law, political science and communication science from the University of Vienna and holds a master in public administration from the University of Salzburg. Philip Owen is Head of Unit Climate finance, mainstreaming, Montreal Protocol, DG Climate Action, European Commission. Mr. Owen joined the European Commission in 1990 having spent 12 years in the private sector. Philip Owen moved to DG Climate Action in mid-february 2010 to deal with climate action policy for road vehicles and fuels as well as dealing with ozone and fluorinated gas issues and the UN's Montreal Protocol. From 1 January 2016, his work encompasses climate finance, mainstreaming climate action into the Commission's spending as well as the Montreal Protocol. Jose Delgado is Senior Advisor for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance since 2010 on national and international climate policy matters. José is Alternate Board Member to the Green Climate Fund, long-term Member of the Austrian delegation to the UNFCCC, as well as member of several European climate expert groups and UNFCCC negotiating teams. Jose Delgado holds a doctorate degree in economics. 1

2 Session 2: Sustainable finance: Aligning the financial system with sustainability criteria Angelika Delen is in charge of the third-party distribution for Amundi Austria, having a 14 years background in Asset Management for institutional and third-party clients. The first step into ESG/SRI was with AIG Investments where the first Hedge Fund of Fund with SRI screening was launched in In 2015 Angelika started to work on the SRI theme with Schelhammer & Schattera, before joining 2016 Amundi. In 2018 the first impact conference was taking place where she had the lead on the concept and content. She is part of different working/discussion groups for climate strategy and SRI and a fan of using quotes. One of her favorites is: You must be the change you wish to see in the world (M. Gandhi). Marcel Leistenschneider advises institutional investors on the development and execution of their responsible investment strategies utilizing ESG insights in order to enhance long-term performance for shareholders and associated stakeholders. Before that, Marcel has worked for more than six years in investment management, VC, and M&A banking. He holds an MBA from Cornell University and a MSc degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Muenster. Cédric Merle is analyst at Natixis Green & Sustainable Hub, focusing on low-carbon solutions. He is also lecturer at Ecole Polytechnique on China s energy transition and climate change action. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Head of international Financial System and Summits Preparation Office (G20, G7, OECD) at the French Treasury (Ministry for the Economy and Finance). He was member of the inter-ministerial taskforce on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He is a graduate from Sciences Po (Master in Public Affairs) and HEC Paris (MSc Sustainable Development & Social Innovation). Jakob Thomä is Director of the 2 Investing Initiative Germany. In this capacity, he manages the organisation s research on financial risk and 2 C alignment metrics, as well as the regulatory partnerships outside of France. Jakob leads research partnerships with central banks and environment ministries across three European countries, as well as the two largest global research projects on indicators and benchmarks to measure the alignment of financial markets with climate goals and associated financial risk (SEI metrics & ET Risk project). Session 3: Involvement of the private sector in climate and sustainable finance: roles, partnerships and tools Manuel Adamini is an expert in institutional responsible investing, with a deep understanding of climate-related investment risks and opportunities. He is a frequent speaker and moderator at international conferences and has contributed to numerous publications in retail and institutional media. At Climate Bonds Initiative, Manuel works as a Director, responsible for our Investor Outreach and Partners Programme. Until early 2015, Manuel had served as Head of Responsible Investing at 2

3 Dutch EUR 55 bln asset manager ACTIAM for seven years. Earlier in his career, Manuel had worked with Fortis, where he had initiated a global climate strategy. Martin Berg is a senior investment officer in the Infrastructure Funds and Climate Action Unit at the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg where he focuses on investments in private equity funds related to clean infrastructure and the environment. In addition, he is also involved in innovative climate and environmental finance mechanisms, such as carbon bonds, securitisation of renewable energy assets, natural capital and payment for ecosystem services. Martin joined the EIB from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML) in London. Prior to his time at BofAML, Martin worked at RNK Capital LLC, an environmental investment firm in New York, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Martin holds an MPA from Columbia University and an MA from the University of Bonn. Bernhard Gräber is Head of Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Investments at Evangelische Bank. He holds a PhD in Energy Economics and has a broad experience in renewable energy and in Emerging Markets from several management positions at the utility company EnBW Energie Baden- Württemberg. Prior to joining Evangelische Bank in 2017 he was Head of Infrastructure Investments at Talanx, the 3rd largest insurance group in Germany. Marko van Waveren Hogervorst is Senior financial expert and team manager, having worked 20 years at the asset management organizations of the financial institutions ABN AMRO, Fortis and BNP Paribas where he has worked extensively with private and public-sector investors. He has built-up a successful track record in fund raising, setting-up sustainable client relationships, and developing and managing profitable new businesses and/or strategies in developed and developing countries. More recently he has been active as a senior advisor to international organizations in Vienna and currently working as PFAN Partnership Manager at UNIDO. Day2: Tuesday, 24 April 2018 Session 4: Best practices and innovations in international climate and sustainable finance Katarin Wagner is responsible for Corporate Sustainability at HSBC Germany. Prior to that, Mrs. Wagner has worked for the evangelical church on the integration of sustainability criteria in capital investments. Since 2001, Mrs. Wagner has gained expertise across several areas and sectors within HSBC. Currently, Mrs. Wagner is complementing her degree in business through an MBA in Sustainability Management at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg. Renat Heuberger is a pioneer and social entrepreneur in the field of sustainability, climate change and renewable energies, where he is engaged since As a founding partner and CEO of South Pole, he coordinated the set-up of the company s global sustainability finance business. Renat has been elected Social Entrepreneur of Switzerland by the World Economic Forum s Schwab foundation, and he serves as a member of the Expert Network of the WEF. He is member of the Innovation Council of InnoSuisse, board member of Climate-KIC, Board member of M-Power, and 3

4 member of the advisory board of Impact HUB Zurich. Renat holds a master degree in environmental sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and has completed executive education programs at INSEAD and the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). Johannes Naimer-Stach has a strong background in business administration and political science. He has worked within the EU ETS, for WWF Austria and Bundesbeschaffung, focusing on climate change and sustainability issues. With his own business, 288 Grad Consulting, he concentrated on climate impact and innovation, before becoming country manager of Climate-KIC Austria. Ruprecht von Heusinger has been structuring, arranging & underwriting international project finance transactions since Prior to joining Kommunalkredit Austria in 2013, he was Head of Infrastructure Finance for CEE at Eurohypo AG ( ) and Associate Director at Depfa Bank (Germany) in the Infrastructure Finance Team ( ). Ruprecht holds a Degree in Economics & Philosophy from the London School of Economics, a PHD in Economics from the Krakow School of Economics and is a CFA Charterholder. Besides German, Ruprecht speaks English, French and Polish. Peter Kögler is Director, Corporate and Ecosystems Finance in Conservation International s Brussels office. He has worked globally on climate finance, agriculture, environmental and supply chain issues. Peter has worked for a major corporate in the beverage sector, financial institutions and non-profit organizations. He has studied in Austria, the USA and the UK and holds an MSc as an agricultural engineer and an MBA in Food and Agribusiness. Klaus Steiner is Head of the Executive Department for Development Policy at the Development Bank of Austria since February He started his career at the Austrian Federal Chancellery and later the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Department for cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe. After a three-year interval, when he worked for the Delegation of the European Commission to Hungary as head of unit for Institution Building, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004 to work for Development Cooperation. Mr. Steiner is an economist who graduated at the Vienna University of Economics in

5 Katarin Wagner is responsible for Corporate Sustainability at HSBC Germany. Prior to that, Mrs. Wagner has worked for the evangelical church on the integration of sustainability criteria in capital investments. Since 2001, Mrs. Wagner has gained expertise across several areas and sectors within HSBC. Wolfgang Diernhofer is head of the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department at KPC. He has a thorough understanding of international climate finance architecture and is actively involved in climate change policy as part of Austria s delegation to the COP. He also served the Green Climate Fund as one of the members of the Accreditation Panel guiding the board of the GCF in its accreditation process. Wolfgang also advises the Austrian GCF board member. Martin Gauss (Event Moderator) is a principal consultant with Kommunalkredit Public Consulting and advises international organisations, development institutions and government agencies on environmental, climate change and finance issues. Martin has started his career in international business development before moving into the field of international development cooperation, spending several years in Central and South America on behalf of the Austrian Development Cooperation and the World Bank. Since 2008, Martin is working as one of KPC s principal international consultants, leading assignments globally and predominantly in emerging markets in the fields of climate and sustainable finance. Martin holds a master degree in environmental management and a global executive MBA from the University of Minnesota. 5
