1 BOARD OF GOVERNORS Profiles of members of the Governing Body and co-opted members of its committees Governors: Eileen Bolton Eileen Bolton joined the Board in March 2015, having been elected as staff governor, and is a member of the Resources Committee. Eileen has been at the College as a Business Development Manager since September 2000 and is currently the Commercial Business Development Manager within the Commercial Services Department of the College. Her role is to maximise income from commercial activities, by evolving and delivering a business development strategy which takes into account the overall plans and objectives of the College and those of the two areas known as Conferences at Sparsholt and Weddings at Sparsholt. Michael Coombes Michael Coombes joined the Board in 2005 and has served as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. Michael was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Governors in July 2014, having previously been Vice Chairman during the academic year A qualified accountant, Michael worked for a number of public sector organisations over a career spanning 38 years, including as Chief Financial Officer to Winchester City Council. Michael and his wife Jen, a nurse, live in the local area and have a daughter and a son. Roger Fawcett Roger taught in comprehensive schools for the first seven years of his career before joining what was in the 1970 s the new world of business IT. For the past 30 years he has had a variety of senior marketing, sales and general management positions in the UK and Europe in IT and telecommunications. In his present position he is Director of a Business Unit in Hewlett Packard with responsibilities for a significant P&L in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Roger has previously been a non-executive director in the NHS (Southampton University Hospitals Trust) and is currently non-executive chairman of a venture backed IT company in Wales. He is a parish councillor in his home village in Hampshire. Roger s qualifications include a BA Hons (London University), PGCE (Leeds University) and an M.Ed (Birmingham University). Roger was appointed to the Board of Governors in December 2009; he is a member of the Curriculum, Employer & Market Requirements Committee, Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and also a Director of Andover Town Football Club Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the College.

2 Elise Freshwater-Blizzard Elise was appointed as a Student governor for Andover College in July She is a member of the Quality & Standards Committee. Björn Holm Björn is the College s Learning Manager for Animal Management - FE. He was appointed as a staff governor in July 2012 and is a member of the Quality & Standards Committee. Neil Hopkins OBE Neil Hopkins - Executive Director of the Maple Group of sixth form colleges. Neil was, from 1993 to 2013, the principal of Peter Symonds College, Winchester, the largest sixth form college in the country. Now semi-retired, he has a part-time role with the Maple Group of high-performing sixth form colleges. In addition, he is a member of the Winchester Army Training Regiment's Independent Advisory Panel, and of Oxford University's Humanities External Advisory Group. In a lifetime working in education, Neil has taught in schools and colleges in areas as diverse as Salford and Rutland. He spent many years on the boards of the Association of Colleges and of UCAS, the university admissions organisation, as well as being a council member of the Association of School and College Leaders. He has a first degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Education. Neil was appointed to the Board of Governors in July 2013, becoming Vice Chairman in July 2014, and is Chairman of the Quality & Standards Committee. Tim Jackson Tim has held the post of Principal of Sparsholt College Hampshire since He is Chairman of Landex and a past Board member of the Association of Colleges (AOC) Tim has previously been Chairman of the Board of the Association of South East Colleges and a member of the National Capital Reference Committee of the Skills Funding Agency/AoC. Tim is also a Member of the BIS convened Further Education Reform and Performance Board. Tim is a member of the Curriculum, Employer & Market Requirements, Resources, Quality & Standards and Remuneration Committees of the Board of Governors. Madina Kamara-Aspin Madina works as a Community Development Officer and really enjoys her role working with the community. Previous to this role, Madina worked as a substance misuse worker with young people in the North Hampshire area. She enjoys working with young people, addressing mental health

3 issues and giving people the capacity to make positive change and progress. Madina was appointed as a member of the Board of Governors in July 2010 and is a member of the Quality & Standards Committee. Peter Lloyd Peter was until May 2014 Chairman of Dutton Gregory Solicitors and head of the firm s company department. He is now a commercial and export law consultant and retains strong links with the firm which has offices in London, Winchester, Southampton, and Bournemouth and employs 130 people. Peter has been a governor at Barton Peverill and Peter Symonds Colleges. He served on the Southampton Community Relations Council and was chair of Eastleigh Labour Party and of the NW Hants TEC Advisory Board. He is currently a member of Sparsholt College s Resources and Remuneration Committees. Peter is a member of the Joint Audit Committee of the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Hampshire Constabulary. Peter has two grown up sons and a daughter soon to finish school. He lives in the countryside and his brother, and his mother s family, are farmers. He is taking a course in film at Southampton University (where his wife Anne is a lecturer) and he is a keen, tennis player, dinghy sailor and amateur builder. He is also closely involved with Romsey Hockey Club and is a qualified hockey umpire. Peter says that it is a great privilege to be involved with Sparsholt College where the staff and leadership team are so utterly dedicated to enabling thousands of young people to realise their full potential. Danielle Moraviec Danielle was appointed as a Student governor for Sparsholt College in December She is a member of the Quality & Standards Committee. Simeon Morgan Simeon Morgan comes from a local farming family and started helpin on the family dairy farm in Lymington at a young age. Simeon studied for his ND in Agriculture and HND in Agricultural business Studies at Sparsholt College where he also met his wife, Lisa. They now have 2 children. A Director of Simeon Morgan Farming Ltd, the business was started when his employers of the time reviewed their farming operations. He was asked to tender to take over their arable operations on a contracting basis and the business took off from there. It has always been the aim to create a long-term professional and sustainable business that keeps up with modern farming practices, remains flexible and innovative. The business now undertakes arable operations on 622 hectares on a range of different agreements from contract farming to tenancy and individual operations.

4 Simeon has a BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection and has undertaken the Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme. He employs a young workforce and has a keen interest in the Agricultural Apprenticeship Scheme. Simeon enjoys sport, shooting and fishing. Simeon was appointed to the Board from March 2012 and is the first Chairman of the Curriculum, Employer & Market Requirements Committee, formed in January Dr Roger Palmer Roger spent twenty years in the agricultural supply industry associated with the chemical, food and pharmaceutical sectors, latterly holding appointments as Marketing Director and Chief Executive. He then became an academic, initially at the Cranfield School of Management. He subsequently became Professor of Marketing and Management and then Head of the School of Management at Henley Business School. His final appointment was as Professor and Dean of the Business School at Bournemouth University. He has held visiting appointments/professorships at Universities in Europe, South America and Australasia and has travelled and worked extensively overseas. Roger gained an HND in Agriculture at Writtle College and Post Graduate Diploma in Crop Protection at Harper Adams Agricultural College (now Harper Adams University). He was awarded his MBA and PhD by Cranfield School of Management, when he also gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. He holds Fellowships with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Higher Education Academy and is an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Societies. Roger joined the Board of Governors in 2014 and is a member of the Resources Committee. Judy Venables Following a 30 year career in HM Forces (Army), during which time she qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS), Judy now has a varied portfolio of work she is currently the Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner (Policing & Safer Communities) for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and is also a Member of the Disciplinary and Regulatory Committees for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Until 2012 she was an Independent Member of Hampshire Police Authority where she was the Chair of the Governance (Audit) Committee, and was also the Chair of Test Valley Community Safety Partnership. During her varied career she has led several business transformation project teams; most recently managing the changes in policing governance within Hampshire that came into effect in Judy has working gundogs and during the shooting season she can be found picking-up on several shoots across Hampshire and Wiltshire. She is also a keen gardener and, with her husband, has recently finished renovating a 2-acre garden. Judy was appointed as a Governor in August 2014 and is a member of the Audit Committee. Simon Ward Simon is a Chartered Surveyor specialising in property market research, analysis and evidence. His clients, drawn from public and private sectors, seek market intelligence and strategic advice on property issues, economic development, forward planning policies, feasibility studies and benchmarking projects. He is called as an expert witness in support of Town Planning cases and speaks on property research at conferences.

5 Simon chairs the Research and Intelligence Task Group of Hampshire Economic Partnership. He is married with two sons and comes from a farming background. Simon is an External Governor, originally nominated by the Hampshire Economic Partnership. He is a member of the Curriculum, Employers & Market Requirements Committee. Chris Wilson Chris was a secondary school deputy headteacher before joining Hampshire's Inspection and Advisory Service in 1988, retiring in 2008 from the post of County Strategy Manager. He has had 20 years' experience as a governor in secondary schools, chairing a number of committees including personnel, curriculum and general purposes, as well as the headteacher's performance management review group. He also served on the interim executive boards of two Hampshire secondary schools, joining the governing bodies subsequently. He has had 18 years' experience as a governor trainer as part of his school improver role as a local authority senior inspector/adviser. As an accredited school improvement partner and formerly link inspector, he worked with a number of schools in challenging circumstances so that they have improved. He was an Ofsted registered inspector for primary and secondary schools Chris joined the Board of Governors in July 2013, was appointed to the Audit Committee and became Chairman of the Audit Committee in August 2014.

6 Co-opted Committee Members: Nigel Beck Nigel is currently running a small taxation consultancy following retirement as the senior Partner of Beck Randall & Carpenter, Chartered accountants in 2002 and as a Consultant to the firm until Nigel qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1966 and gained experience in auditing. accounting and taxation in London with Lord Foster & Co (later became of Binder Hamblyn), Singleton Fabian Derbyshire and Todd (later became part of Binder Hamblyn) and Grant Thornton in Bristol. In 1969 Nigel joined Brooking Holmes & Co (which later became BKL) as the manager of a new office in Andover and was a Partner from 1971 until Nigel has gained experience in auditing charities and local authority companies as well as providing management accounting, taxation and advisory services. Nigel was co-opted to the Audit Committee in John Charles John taught for twelve years in Secondary Schools and Further & Higher Education, before joining Hampshire County Education Department. He retired in 1996, having spent 25 years in the Department, most of which were at senior Education Officer level. For the next 7 years he operated as an Education Consultant and as a Performance Management Consultant. John has been closely associated with Sparsholt College Hampshire since 1972 and was appointed to the Board in December John has been a member of the Audit Committee, was Chairman of the Quality & Standards Committee from its inception until 2008 and served as Chairman of the Board of Governors from 2008 until July He was appointed to the Quality & Standards Committee as a co-opted member from August John s qualifications include degrees in History and in Economics and a Diploma in Education. His principal interests are cricket, rugby, horseracing, music, art and architecture. Simon Eden Simon is the Chief Executive of Winchester City Council, a post he has held since May Prior to that, he was Executive Director for Sustainability and Development at Southampton City Council, having previously worked in various policy roles in the Civil Service for 12 years. Before he began his career in public administration, Simon was a Zoologist. Following graduation from Sheffield University he studied for a PhD in Animal Behaviour, and then worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Cambridge University for two years. Simon was co-opted to the Governance & Search Committee in 2003.

7 Susan Shaw Susan Shaw has over twenty years experience working in accountancy and tax. She is experienced in dealing with both private clients and corporates. She has an agricultural degree from Reading University and specialises in agriculture and land based industries in her day to day work. Susan is a member of the Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners as well as the Institute of Agricultural Consultants. Susan was a member of the Board of Governors from 1997 to 2009 and is now a co-opted member of the Resources Committee.
