1 Ashley Karnowaski Textile Designer Eddie Bauer Seattle, WA Ashley is currently working as a textile designer for Eddie Bauer in Seattle, WA. She previously worked at Nordstrom as a Print Technician for 4 years. That position combined print design and product development. Ashley knew she wanted to pursue textile design while working during her internship in New York at Tucker by Gaby Basora. The world of textile design is endless and she is constantly learning something new. Ashley s goal is to be able to freelance full time. In the meantime she freelances on nights and weekends to gain exposure to new companies, and make new connections.

2 Laura Jay Merchandise Planner Kohl's Menomonee Falls, WI Laura interned with a ready to wear designer in NYC after her junior year in college to understand the foundation of the vendor side of retail business. The summer after her senior year, she worked parttime at a beautiful clothing boutique in Mount Pleasant while finishing her thesis project written on body measurements and body image perception of baby boomers. Laura moved to Kohl's subsequent to graduation in 2010 to start her career with Kohl's Department Stores. She chose Kohl's because it aligned with why she wanted to work in retail. I love the fastpaced and dynamic environment. Laura started in the Merchandise Analyst Training program, this position was the first step towards a defined career path within the buying office at Kohl's. Her next stop was an associate buyer within Kohl s activewear and team apparel depatrments. Currently, Laura is the Merchandise Planner for Men's Dress Shirts and Neckwear. In this position she is responsible for collaboration with the merchant teams to build seasonal financial plans to effectively achieve sales and profit goals as well as optimize return on inventory investment. Kohl's has allowed her to work with bright and conscientious employees, travel to places she s never been, and further her understanding of running a small business generating millions of dollars. The responsibility given to fresh college graduates is truly empowering!

3 When Kirstie graduated she moved to Atlanta, GA to live close to her family. In Atlanta she worked at Nordstrom in women s retail sales for a few months making commission. Kirstie was then offered a job with Colony Brands Inc. as a Product Development Assistant and a Quality Assurance Assistant where she is currently employed. Kirstie Fish Product Development Assistant Colony Brands Monroe, WI fish1kd@cmich.edu Kirstie is a originally from Troy, Michigan and completed her undergraduate degree at CMU. During her undergraduate time at CMU she completed a merchandising internship at Demure Boutique in Atlanta, Georgia. As a graduate student at CMU, Kirstie worked as a graduate assistant while completing the program. She assisted with helping grade papers, teach classes, and run tests in the body scanning lab for research conducted by a FMD Faculty member. Kirstie spent her first summer in the graduate program studying abroad in Paris. There she worked with incredible mentors learned couture techniques, as well as traveled to multiple exhibits in Spain and France.

4 Lauren Goeller-Ness Assistant Panty designer PINK by Victoria Secret s New York City, NY lgoellerness@victoria.com Lauren completed her Graduate Internship and got her Masters in May She worked as a design intern for a year with the team at Alice + Olivia corporate offices in NYC. Her project consisted of writing a paper of AO's design process, and completing (designing/patterning/constructing) an outfit. It was a great experience and I learned a ton. I think everyone needs to intern/get experience as much as possible while in school if you want an easier time landing a job when you finish school. After completing her internship Lauren worked at American Eagle Outfitters corporate offices as a concept designer (trend forecaster/defines trend for the brands up coming floor sets in a seasonally presentation). She worked there as a freelancer for about 6 months before getting a freelance swimwear designer position at Victoria's Secret PINK. Lauren had this position about 3 months before transitioning to assistant designer for the entire intimates team (swim, bras, panties). After about 9 months in this role, she transitioned to a full time panty designer for PINK which is what she is currently doing. Lauren is responsible for the entire design process of all PINK panties.

5 Morgan Schanski Material Test Engineer Adidas Portland, OR Morgan completed the accelerated APDMT Masters degree, focusing on Textile Research. As a Graduate Research Assistant, Morgan was the Lab Coordinator for the APDMT testing lab, where she learned valuable skills using technical testing equipment and executing research projects. This ultimately led her to a Textile Innovation Internship with the Adidas Future Apparel Team (formerly Adidas Innovation Team). In this position, Morgan was responsible for managing the performance testing of technical materials. During her internship, Morgan completed an in-depth assessment of insulative apparel materials, and developed a test method to measure the wet insulation properties & drying times of those materials. Currently, Morgan is a Material Test Engineer with the Adidas Future Team - a position she obtained upon completion of her internship. When she's not performing material tests in the lab, Morgan's additional responsibilities include test method and equipment development, new material and manufacturing research, and more recently, managing a wear testing program. Morgan hopes to continue to develop her role within the Future Apparel team. As her professional career advances, Morgan wants gain experience in positions such as Material Development and Project Management in order to get a more rounded view of the product development process.

6 Molly Smith Assistant Laboratory Manager of footwear quality Adidas Group Portland, OR Molly graduated from Bridgewater College in May 2013 with a Degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. In fall of 2013, she continued her education at Central Michigan to pursue a degree in Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Technology. At CMU, she had the opportunity to intern twice with Adidas digital sports group in Chadds Ford, PA while being a graduate assistant for Dr. An and for Dr. Lee. The internships, being a collegiate runner (undergrad and grad school), and her graduate assistantships were major contributors to her ability to obtain a position at Adidas. Currently, Molly lives in Portland, Oregon working for Adidas Group as an assistant manager for the footwear quality laboratory(july 2015-present). In this position, Molly is in charge of materials and finished good releases as well as additional footwear projects which range from (material testing to claims issues).

7 Karla Schulze Creative Director of Q Swimwear Q Swimwear San Diego, California karla.mae.schulze@gmail.com Karla graduated from Central Michigan University in 2014 with a Degree in Apparel Merchandising and Design with an Event Management Minor. While at CMU, she interned in NYC for Donna Morgan for her undergrad internship and participated in the Threads Fashion show for two years. Her Threads work included designing two six piece collections and running the exhibition during her senior year. She also studied abroad in Paris, France. Karla was accepted into the accelerated APDMT program as a Junior and completed her Masters in December She currently lives and works in San Diego California as Creative Director of Q Swimwear, where she interned in the Summer of 2015 for the APDMT program. The APDMT program fast tracked my career, allowing me to accept a position that is usually for those who have worked for years in the industry. I owe my post college success to the program and outstanding faculty of FMD and APDMT.

8 Robin Zfenix Jewelry Designer Bioworld Dallas, Texas Robin Zfenix graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel and Textile Design. Immediately following graduation, Robin accepted a position as a Color Analyst at Meijer where she worked for 6 years. Unable to advance in the company, she decided to go back to school to get her Master s degree from Central Michigan University. Robin chose to complete the internship option in her Master s degree and accepted an internship with Bioworld Merchandising located in Dallas, TX. Bioworld is a licensing company that designs apparel and accessories sold at Hot Topic, Spencer s, Walmart, and many other retailers nationwide. Robin worked on the Licensing team as a Brand Coordinator Intern where she inspected production samples and sent them to the licensor. For her internship project, she compared three different brands and analyzed their product lifecycles over the course of their contract with Bioworld. Robin graduated from CMU in December 2015 with a GPA of She accepted a position on the Jewelry Design team in January 2016 with Bioworld. Hot Topic and Spencer s have continuously chosen her designs and they will be sold in retail stores across the country.

9 Sara List Product Developer Carhartt Dearborn, MI Sara did her internship at Global Mamas in Cape Coast, Ghana. While there she worked with local women to empower them and build their own small businesses. She led the summer interns to design and develop new prints and products for the Fair Trade collection, in collaboration with the Mamas. Her Current Position is at Carhartt as a men's outerwear product developer. In her current position she works in collaboration with outerwear designers to develop their ides from the ground up. She works with the global supply partners to source and test raw materials, along with the factories to create prototypes and see garments through to production.

10 Chihiro Hakoyama Cad Designer Abercrombie & Fitch Columbus, OH Chihiro graduated from CMU in 2010 with a MS in Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Technology. Suring her time as a graduate student she took on the thesis track of the program. After graduation she has worked for Abercrombie & Fitch as a CAD designer for the past six years.
