2 JOHN BARTON Director & CEO MGD Wealth John leads the MGD team, driven by an absolute focus on values, quality, team work and corporate citizenship. John leads our firm and is responsible for ensuring our team of professionals and support staff are always ready, willing and able to provide the very best advice and service to our clients. With almost 30 years in banking, financial services and wealth management roles, John brings substantial experience and expertise to the MGD Group. In addition to his leadership and management responsibilities, John is regularly involved in strategic matters for our executive, professional and business owner clients and has a strong focus on the charitable and notfor-profit sector as part of our Philanthropic Advisory team. Over the years, John has been a regular supporter, fundraiser and participant of a number of charitable causes including St Vincent de Paul s annual CEO Sleep Out and more recently as a participant in the annual Chain Reaction Challenge, raising funds for Ronald McDonald House (SEQ) and the AEIOU Foundation. Prior to joining MGD, John held senior leadership roles with Shadforth Financial Group, Tynan Mackenzie and ipac. His career has presented him with opportunities to work both locally and internationally in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His experience across financial services is complemented by his knowledge and passion in the area of behavioural economics the study of emotions and psychology and how they influence real world finance and investment decisions. Away from the office, John is a regular cyclist and is frequently seen riding his bike in and around Brisbane. He also enjoys golf and sharing a good cabernet. 1

3 PROFESSOR MARTIN BETTS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Engagement), Griffith University In this role Martin carries responsibility for the University s marketing and communications and its recruitment of its future students. He is also responsible for the development and alumni activities of the University which embrace engagement with industry, communities, government, schools and other external organisations. As Deputy Vice Chancellor, Martin is also the Provost of both the Nathan and South Bank campuses. This carries oversight responsibility for the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, the Queensland College of Art and the Griffith Film School. From their footprint on the South Bank precinct, each are key partners as cultural institutions to the world class creative arts and innovation in performance and business that is the hallmark of South Bank. 2

4 ANNABEL BRYCE Chief Executive Officer Edge Early Learning Annie is a co-founder and the CEO of Edge Early Learning. She is a UK and Australian admitted lawyer, holds a joint honours degree in Business Management and Marketing, and is a Certificated Member of the Governance Institute of Australia. She is also part of the CBA s Women in Focus Alumni. Annie has progressive and comprehensive legal and management expertise encompassing: change management, development and delivery of business goals and objectives, relationship management, risk management, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Prior to her role at Edge Early Learning, Annie was the Commercial Manager for Dental Corporation with responsibility for the management of over 250 leasehold sites in Australia and New Zealand plus the refurbishment/development of 50 Bupa Dental sites over the course of 3 years. Annie has a drive for positive engagement and delivery at all levels with the ability to focus upon and move between operational and strategic roles, empowering people to achieve above expectations. Edge Early Learning currently has 6 early learning centres across South East Queensland and 8 others in the planning or construction phase. Edge s flagship centre (located in South Brisbane) is due for completion in early

5 PROFESSOR BILL DELVES Chief Executive Officer South Bank Corporation Bill Delves has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for a three year term after being in the role of interim Chief Executive Officer at South Bank Corporation since November As a confident and people-oriented leader, he inspires teams to achieve. He balances the ability to generate organisational growth and innovation with a strong financial and risk aware acumen. This has created sustainable change for his own businesses and external clients. Prior to joining South Bank Corporation, he was recognized in professional services for his experience in accounting, consulting, business leadership and intrapreneurship. With over 30 years experience, he has provided tailored business advice and led large professional services teams locally and globally at both EY and KPMG. Bill s consulting and leadership experience has spanned a wide array of family business, private, corporate, not for profit, and government entities that have drawn upon his expertise for both business and personal solutions. He has also created and led a number of innovative start-ups across different industries. Bill is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Wollongong and chair of their business school s advisory board. 4

6 REBECCA LAMOIN Director Public Engagement and Learning Rebecca is a highly skilled arts and culture professional with almost 20 years experience with all aspects of multi-disciplinary non-profit administration and leadership, including strategic planning, critical analysis, conceptual development, research, consultation, programming and evaluation. She is Director, Public Engagement & Learning at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and Editor of QPAC s Story magazine. She is a Board Member of Business South Bank and of Stage Queensland. Her professional history includes work with performing arts centres, literary festivals, visual arts, youth programming and education, libraries and museums. Rebecca was the first Australian arts manager accepted as an International Fellow of the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. Originally training as a journalist at The University of Queensland, Rebecca has a Master of Arts in Cultural and Media Policy from Griffith University. 5

7 VICKI MCDONALD State Librarian and CEO of State Library of Queensland Vicki McDonald is a key player in the transformation of the library sector in Queensland. As State Librarian and CEO of State Library of Queensland she understands the need for a strong, relevant and innovative library service. Ms McDonald s extensive national and international experience includes executive roles with State Library of NSW and Queensland University of Technology. As State Librarian, Ms McDonald is a custodian of Queensland memory and works in partnership with public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. Her appointment as State Librarian in 2016 follows a career of advocacy that started among the bookshelves of the Dalby-Wambo public library in regional Queensland. 6

8 SHAUN MITCHELL Events & Customer Services Director Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) With more than 37 years experience in the hospitality industry in the United Kingdom, Bermuda and Australia, predominantly in hotel and convention management, Shaun has been a pivotal force in the operations of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre since it opened in During his time at the Centre, Shaun has been an integral part of developing the Centre s strong business reputation, building strong relationships and maintaining a high level of repeat business. As well as having overall responsibility for the delivery of more than 21,000 events, including hundreds of Local, National & International Events: Rotary International, The Goodwill Games and G20 Leaders Summit, the world s most significant business event and acknowledged as the best ever in the history of the summit. In his current role Events & Customer Services Director with a team of over 80 staff, Shaun is responsible for the successful operation of nine departments: Event Planning, Exhibitor Services, Box Office, Ushers, Information Desk, Sets, Floor Coordinators, Housekeeping and Freight. BCEC has held a position on the BSB board since its inception and Shaun has been a member of the Board since He has also contributed too many subcommittees during that time, including the inauguration of the BSB Advantage, the Finance Sub-Committee and the Showcase Committee. Shaun s long term involvement in the corporate and business tourism sectors, provide valuable insight and expertise to his role as Vice Chair & Board Member and for the future direction of Business South Bank. 7

9 CHARLES MARTIN Owners Representative Anthony John Group / Emporium Hotels Charles Martin is the Owners Representative for the Anthony John Group/Emporium Hotels. Through his role he is responsible for ensuring operations are in accordance with the strategic plan, innovative and marketing leading service offerings, operational effectiveness and building the business, brand and culture for Emporium Hotel South Bank within their recently completed Southpoint Development. The development includes Emporium Hotel South Bank, Flight Centre s global headquarters, numerous retailers and home to over 400 residential apartments. He works closely with all stakeholders within the development and South Bank precinct through his positions with the Anthony John Group and Business South Bank, advocating on behalf of residents, business, the public and members of Business South Bank alike. Charles has previously worked for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (Aussie Home Loans) and Ernst & Young in consultancy/advisory and operational roles. His experience extends to hospitality, property, finance, mining, aged care and government industries. 8

10 ANDREW SUTHERLAND Regional General Manager QLD - Fuji Xerox Australia Andy is a next generation leader who enjoys working in a constantly evolving market where technology and innovation meet. Providing a genuine experience and building truly valued partnerships with those that he connects with are at the core of his professional values. Throughout his nineteen years in the print/document solution business, he has gained a significant breadth of management, sales expertise and industry knowledge. His experience spans across several markets encompassing Corporate/Commercial, Strategic, Government and Education. He relishes managing and coaching sales teams and has a real passion to ensure others recognise their true potential within his business. Andy is committed to supporting the community, the environment, and youth through initiatives such as ABCN Business Partnering with Education, and one to one mentorship with local students inspiring leadership at all levels.
