The lecture generated a buzz of interest and excitement amongst the Yi Indore members, students of Yi Indore Nets at IIPS & IPS Academy, and students of the Daly College, which was very evident by the healthy turn out of participants that crossed 150. From the BRICS countries inclusion in the G20 to their participation in the resolution of the global crises that happened at regular intervals in various time spans, the session was an hour-long informative journey on the genesis of these global consultative groups of countries. The speaker - Amb. Yogendra Kumar - provided the audience with an in-depth analysis of India s role in the G20 group. The journey started with the formation of the G7 and weaved its way through the inclusion of Russia to make it G8 and then gradually adding a few more
3 countries to make it the G15 and, finally the G20. In this way, 20 most important countries got together and shaped a consultative group called the G20. The speaker, very thoroughly, explained the role of the G8 in the economic calamities like that in Russia and India in the early 1990s. He also highlighted the suggestions made by the G20 at the time of the American crisis of 2008, which endangered the global economy. Developing countries like India and China play an important role in international economic stability, and this is the reason why developed countries see India and China as huge markets for investment, says Amb. Kumar. Amb. Kumar also advised that India should play a continuous and active role in the G20 and to develop infrastructure like expressways to connect the big cities to the smaller villages. Mr Kumara Guru, National Chair, Learning (Young Indians) and Director (External Relations), Indian School of Business, addressing on the occasion introduced Ambassador Yogendra Kumar and shared his views about the G20. Earlier while welcoming the participants, Mr Ankit D Mittal, Chair, Young Indians (Indore Chapter) and Director - Marketing, Mittal Appliances Ltd, shared Yi Indore Chapter activities and his experience of being a part of the Yi delegation to G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit held in Mexico in June Geetesh Saraf Co-Chair, Young Indians (Indore Chapter) and Director, Urja Facilities Management Services Pvt Ltd proposed the vote of thanks.
