2 New STOA Software launched A new software for processing STOA applications was got developed by CDAC and it was launched in WRLDC on This is an upgrade of the earlier version that was in use since The latest version is capable of handling activities like online registration, Disbursal, Interest Calculation, Reconciliation etc.fat of the Software was successfully completed on 15th and 16th Nov 17 at CDAC Bangalore and SAT was completed at WRLDC on 29 th Nov 17. The Software was got developed under close guidance of WRLDC STOA and IT Team and the challenges experienced by all RLDCs in processing STOA transactions have also been suitably addressed in the present version.the LOA has provision for minor customization and deployment of the same software in other RLDCs/NLDC.
3 Workshop on "Understanding and Interpreting Law" The workshop "Understanding and Interpreting Law" that started on was concluded on The workshop exposed the participants to the legal terminologies, concepts, procedures and landmark cases that could be useful in understanding and discharging statutory obligation.during the valedictory session a very informal and emotional farewell was also given to Ms Pragya Singh who would be joining UP Judiciary system. WRLDC team acknowledged the contribution of Ms Pragya Singh who started her career from WRLDC and then moved to corporate office as Legal coordinator for cases pertaining to western region.
4 Power System for Non-Engineers A special drive was initiated in WRLDC to provide basic knowledge of power sector to the personnel working in the Finance&Accounts, HR,Technical services,contracts and IT department. The initiative was named as RTKI-IPS (Real Time knowledge improvement in Power Sector).The first workshop was conducted on It started with pre-training evaluation followed by lectures and individual counseling session.it was observed that the pre-evaluation score which was just 33% improved to 90% after the end of the session.after personalized Counselling the group scored 100% in the test.this unique initiative was appreciated by all and there is huge demand for Module -2 by Service department members.

6 Dy CVO visits WRLDC Sh Subhash Chowdhary, Dy CVO visited WRLDC on During his two hours session he shared the vision of top management of the company to build a culture of transparency,integrity and high ethical standards. He emphasized the need for job rotation and empowerment of young employees for their professional development. He interacted with all employees to understand their expectations from the Vigilance department in POSOCO. WRLDC team suggested that they expected greater thrust to be given on preventive vigilance. They also highlighted the need for compilation of the HR policies for its harmonious implementation at all centers of POSOCO. The session was appreciated by one-and-all.
7 Collaboration for Reliable, Sustainable Energy Systems Sh Vivek Pandey, Ch.Manager was a special invitee in the Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) Maharashtra State Council meet on at Mumbai. He gave a presentation on the Initiatives being taken at the regional and national level for creating reliable and sustainable energy system of the future. He shared that the collaborative approach of WRLDC with the wind power producers in Maharashtra had resolved issues related with telemetry and scheduling of Renewable energy sources and facilitated 100% absorption of wind power generation in 2017.
8 WRLDC extends Faculty Support Smt S. Usha DGM (Market Operation) was the guest faculty from WRLDC during the HRD programme on 'Commercial and Transmission Tariff' organised by POWERGRID WRTS- I in Mumbai on She gave a presentation on Electricity Market Operations.
9 Tutorial by Dr Vahid Madani Dr Vahid Madani,Fellow IEEE and a technology leader for advanced power system applications at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. gave a tutorial on 'The future of power system and role of system operators'. The session was conducted from WRLDC on and was attended by participants from WRLDC, IIT Mumbai and Reliance Energy, NLDC and other RLDCs (through Video Conference).Dr Vahid spoke about the changes due to rapid technology transformation,security risks and environmental concerns. He suggested strategies and new skill sets required for managing the future power system.
10 WRLDC participation in 7th ICPS-2017 A technical paper titled "Decentralized Interchange Scheduling in India" co authored by Sh V. Pandey, Smt S. Usha, and Sh. V.K. Shrivastava was presented in the 7th International Conference on Power System held on December 2017 at the College of Engineering Pune. The paper elaborates the mechanism adopted to address the problems of unit commitment, economic dispatch and generation control of shared resources within the federal governance structure in India.

12 Fire Safety Drill A fire safety drill was conducted on Mock fire alarm was raised and the total time taken by the employees to assemble at the pre-identified assembly point was measured. The safety committee lead by Sh. N. Roy,DGM apprised the employees about various types of fire and the methods to extinguish them by using fire extinguishers. Employees volunteered to operate the different types of portable fire extinguishers. Such drills in the past enhanced the general awareness, and helped in averting a major fire accident in the battery room of WRTCC (adjacent to WRLDC) in June 2017.
13 WRLDC Young team at Koyna for blackstart Blackstart drill was conducted at Koyna Hydro Power Plant on A team of four young officers from WRLDC witnessed the exercise and also got the first hand experience of hydro power plant operations.
