Recent Club Events Thanksgiving Baskets Clay Hoffman chaired this New Member Project. Clay and his team filled and delivered 100 food boxes to Loving Hearts and Crider Center for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Pictured below is a group loading the boxes for delivery. Jeff Mohesky designed the labels for the boxes. What a great project! Club Visioning Last month, 28 of our club members participated in a Club Visioning Project. It was a very exciting evening with lots of input from everyone - looking at our club 5 years out and how we want to look. More info will be coming to the club.here are some pics. 2 December Meetings/Programs December 2 Jack Jackson / Students of the month December 9 NO NOON MEETING /Annual Christmas Party December 16 B.J Hillermann, Tax Assistance Program December 23 Club Meeting on our Visioning Process / new member induction December 30-5th Thursday Meet & Greet Darren Lamb, City of Washington ROTARACT NEWS We have some wonderfully talented people in our Rotaract Club and two of them, our crocheting engaged couple Ricky and Elizabeth have been working for the Last few weeks to handcraft beautiful giant crocheted stockings for our raffle. We are continuing to try and assist the family who lost their home to Fire as we work towards helping them to afford a new place to move in to with their children. Attached is a picture of two of our Rotaractors Angelica and Chelsea as they show off the stockings and some of the goodies that go with them! Along with the stockings, candy, snacks, duck tape, and the other items shown will be holiday DVD s and $10 in Pasta House gift certificates in each stocking! They work to make a positive difference in our community and we appreciate how you support them in their efforts. 4 Washington Rotary Club Board of Directors Meeting October 11, 2010 Meeting called to 12:07 by Debbie Toedebusch Present: Chuck Marquart, Debbie Toedebusch, Andy Beckerman, Justin Sincox, Leonard Marquart, & Tim Unnerstall Excused: Annette Johnson, Curt Dennison Guests: None Approval of September minutes: motioned by Justin S, seconded by Chuck M. Financial report: Tim distributed copies of the Cash Disbursement Journal from 7/1/10 through 10/8/10. The board reviewed the report and Justin S motioned to approve, and Len M seconded. Membership: Transfers: None. New members: Rebecca Gruzy is being sponsored by Dave Frick. Chuck M motioned to bring Rebecca to the club for approval, Justin S seconded. Resignations: None. Donation Requests: The Franklin Count Backstoppers requested a donation to support their second annual Fright Fest Haunted House. Chuck M motioned to approve $500, Justin S seconded. Buddies Not Bullies request for $10,000: Len Marquart reported that he had discussed the program with Rosemary King and she was positive on the impact of the program. The board intends to support the program, but a larger donation will be contingent on a better understanding of the proposed web site. Debbie T will coordinate a discussion between Lisa Bell and Jason Osterly and Stefan Adams and the board will then revisit the request. The United Way Requested $7,500 to support the Community Response for Children. Justin S motioned to bring the request to the club for approval, Chuck M seconded. Dowtown Washington Post Office Project: Downtown Washington requested a donation to support the Post Office Project. Andy B motioned to approve $1,000, Justin S seconded. Rotary Rose Bowl Parade: $100 was requested from the club to support the Rotary Rose Bowl Parade. The board declined. District Governer Todd Lindley requested $100 to support the New Orleans Mission Library Project to honor RI President Ray Klinginsmith. Each club in the district is being asked to contribute $100. Chuck M motioned, Justin S seconded.

5 New Business Annette Johnson tendered her resignation from the board effective September 30 th and the board accepted it. The board expressed its gratitude to Annette for her many contributions to the board and our club. Annette is not resigning from the club. District Governor Todd Lindley sent a letter asking the board to vote on our district s representative to the Nominating Committee that will select the Zone Director. The board voted for R. Scott Harness of the Festus/Crystal City club. The board approved $500 to each high school band and $500 to Saint Francis Borgia Grade School for the use of their cafeteria for the pancake breakfast. Chuck M motioned, Justin S seconded. Debbie T reported that the meeting time for the early morning makeup meetings is being moved to 7:00. Debbie T reminded the board that our Club Visioning meeting is being held November 11 th from 5:00 to 9:00p.m. in Jesuit hall and encouraged all board members to attend. The board discussed ways to handle donation requests more efficiently. Debbie T provided examples of request forms that other clubs use to standardize requests and gather useful information from the requestors. Tim U volunteered to develop a sample form for our club and bring it back to the board for discussion. The board also discussed moving to a quarterly approval cycle for larger ($2,500 & above) requests. Chuck M motioned and Justin S seconded. Old Business St. Francis Borgia High School Athletic Facility: George Wingbermuehle sent a letter to the board asking for reconsideration of the request. After a discussion, Len Marquart motioned to approve $1,500 and Justin S seconded. St. John s ER Donation: The board discussed the results of the survey that was sent to all club members asking for their feedback on the ER donation request. Debbie T also reported that Herb Dill has met with the charter members of the club, and they are willing to support a donation of $25,000. Based on these inputs, the board discussed proposing a $25,000 donation to the St. John s ER project to the club for approval. Andy B motioned and Justin S seconded. Thanksgiving Basket Project: Justin S reported that the project is progressing and we expect to be able to provide 100 baskets for needy families. Meeting was adjourned at 1:39.
