Work has been crazy and we are still looking for an editor/publisher. Want to volunteer? Scott made up for missing the January President Demo. He pulled a most excellent and informative demonstration on wand making out of thin air. Almost as if by MAGIC! Am I bad, pun intended? Great job Scott. Nick Agar is in the area and will be presenting our March Demo. He ll be showing us his technique for turning a lidded box and top it off with a finial. If you haven t seen him demo you are in for a big treat. Wonder if he brought his horn. Looking ahead a month or so, we have a display available at the Penrose Library downtown. We have the Display Booths for May and June. I f you would like to show off some of your work, get with Robert Brewer. July is the El Paso County Fair. We are looking forward to demoing there again this year. If you re interested in helping out, let us know. We need demonstrators and PR folks to chat up the crowd. Scott is still filling out this year s demo schedule. If you are interested in giving a demo, put a bug in his ear at the next meeting. Don t forget to do a little magic for the President s Challenge. Turn a wand on the lathe. As I mentioned you ll get double points if you can write with the wand. 3 Penrose Library Displays We have the display booth cases available for us in in May and June. We will swap out items and freshen up the displays each month. Robert Brewer is coordinating. Here s what they look like empty. Then we do our Magic!

5 Raffle Just a reminder, the funds raised by the monthly raffle, go to help pay our rent and to compensate some of our demonstrators. Bring wood to donate get a free raffle ticket. We are always looking for ways to supplement income other than increasing dues. We will also have Gift Certificates from Craft Supplies USA again this year. If you bring a wood or other donation for the raffle you receive a free raffle ticket. THREADED INSERTS -- use for any vessel or box that needs a secure lid-- mount the ring insert in the vessel; mount the disk insert in the lid. Hard maple holds threads; 10 tpi. Not variable speed but still a good starter lathe. $ Wood for sale. Beautiful dark walnut boards. The planks are 12 X8ft and available for $7.00 a board foot. There s approx 100 board feet for sale.
