1 Week #2 Large Group June 15, 2014 Need To Know: I Am Valuable To God Bible Story: Jesus Welcomes The Children (Luke 10:13-16) GAME PREPARATION Hot Diggity Dog Materials needed for 1 stage: (*Asterisk & bold = duplicate for additional services)! Table! Paper Towels* (to clean hands after game)! 2 Bottles of Ketchup! 10 Hot Dog Buns*! 10 Hot Dogs*! 2 Bottles of Squeezable Relish! 4 Large Plates*! 2 Prizes* (1 large, 1 small) Prepare Ahead of Time! 2 Plates with 5 Hot Dogs on each plate.! Remove seal inside of Ketchup and Relish.! Unwrap bag of Hot Dog Buns, and place buns on table. Game: Hot Diggedy Dog! 2 Plates with 5 Hot Dogs on each plate.! Remove seal inside of Ketchup and Relish.! Unwrap bag of Hot Dog Buns, and place buns on table. How to play:! Choose teams. One team member will be holding the hot dog bun. Other will pass the hot dog with bun back to the contestant on their team, who will put ketchup on the hot dog and then pass it back to add relish.! The first team to assemble five hot dogs wins! Notes for Host/Game Director:! Choose one contestant (2 total contestants per team). When the contestants come up onto stage, allow kids to introduce themselves. Make sure they know how to play the game, and then allow the game to start.! Ask actors to help you clean up after the game is over.

2 Tie-in teaching point:! The contestants in this game are all valuable because we needed them each to do their parts in order to assemble a hot dog. Just like Jesus told the children in the Bible Story that they were valuable, we are each valuable, too! We can remember I Am Valuable To God! Skit Characters: Skippy (A kid who is at the park) Rocko (a theme park operator) who is preparing for the arrival of Fil Finnegan (unseen owner of Beginigin) Props Needed: Backpack Water bottle Theme Park Map Cell phone OFF THE RAILS COUNTER Host/Worship Leader(s) take stage. HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: Welcome back to Beginagin Theme Park! Before we get started today I would like to know, which you like more: fluffy pink cotton candy or sugary funnel cakes? On the count of three tell me, which you like better. (Count down and let children answer.) Wow! They both are super delicious, but my favorite is (say your favorite). Throughout this new series, we are going to be learning about eight truths from the Bible that will take our relationships with God to a new level...off the rails!!! Before we get started though I want to remind everyone that we do have just a few rules we need to remember in order for us all to have a safe and enjoyable time in CF Kids! Rule #1 Respect yourself and others/ Rule #2- Listen and Obey/ Rule #3 Be Kind/ Rule #4 Respect our property Great! If we all do those things we will all have a great time! In this series, we re learning a new song! The name of this song is Holy Is Your Name. Why don t you STAND UP and come down front so we can practice together? Here s how the chorus goes: (Teach motions below) During the first part, we are going sway our arms over head (demonstrate while saying this) and then we are going to spin, while alternating fist when we say, Higher. Then, we re going to do this: INVITE them to stand up with you!

SONG HOLY IS YOUR NAME HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: That was some awesome singing! Before we go into the park and see what all the excitement is about, let s check out what we need to know today! OFF THE RAILS WEEK #2 With Teaching Music I Am Valuable To God! You guys stay seated and repeat that after me: Optional Motions: 1 st -3 rd Grade I Am (point to self) Valuable (rub fingers together) To God (point up)! HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: Awesome job! If you re ready to see all the fun at Beginagin Theme Park, let me hear you scream like you re on a roller coaster! AAAHHHH!!! AWESOME! Well then let s head into the park. Let s count it down! Ready? ACTION!!! Host/Worship Leaders exit OFF THE RAILS OPENER Theme Park Music Skippy: Whoo Hoooo! I love this place!!! I can t believe it s finally summer vacation! No more science projects, spelling tests, and mean lunch ladies!!! This is the life! I can t believe my parents are letting me ride some rides by myself! I didn t want to go back to the hotel with them just so my baby brother could take his nap. They know they can trust me. Besides that, I have to call them every 30 minutes until they get back (checking theme park map) Let s see what ride should I go on first? Oh! Maybe I ll check out the Dueling Dragons ride. That sounds pretty amazing! (keep looking at map as Rocko enters)

4 Rocko: (enters sweeping up and mumbling to himself) Man, I can t stand these kids! The little rug rats who come here make such a mess! You d think none of them had ever seen a garbage can before. What s so hard about putting your trash in the can??? Skippy: Excuse me sir Rocko: Get away from me kid. Can t you see I m busy! Skippy: Oh I m sorry sir. I thought you worked here. Rocko: I do work here. Duh! Did you think I was here on vacation and I just happen to travel around with a broom and dustpan? Geez! Some people are just well you know. (make the sign for crazy) Skippy: Okay never mind Skippy steps to the side to call his parents while Rocko continues sweeping up with a bad attitude Rocko: (yelling an imaginary kids off stage) Hey YOU! Yeah YOU! You kids pick those wrappers up! In fact why don t you just pack up your things and get out of here! I don t have time for you kids!!! Skippy: (trying cell phone and realizes that battery is dead) Oh! No! I think I ran the battery down while I was playing Flappy Party Revenge. My phone is dead! My parents are going to be soooo mad at me especially when they find out I haven t been kidnapped and I just ran the battery down while I was waiting in line for that last ride. (back to Rocko) Excuse me sir Rocko: What did I tell ya kid? I m busy here can t you see? Skippy: I know, but I am supposed to check in with my parents every 30 minutes and you see my battery on my phone is dead. Do you happen to know where I can find a charger for my flip phone? Rocko: (sarcastic) Do I look like I have a phone charger on me kid? If you want to plug your antique flip phone into my broom handle go right ahead geez! Can t you see I m busy? Now scram! (begin talking to himself again) Kids! They are all over the place! I have to get ready for the arrival of the parks owner! Mr. Fil Finnegan will be here sometime today and everything has to be perfect. This is HIS park and I want to show him that I value what I do. Maybe if he sees how hard I work, I will get a promotion. I d love to have one of those cushy ticket taker positions. That way I would always have a nice air conditioned booth to work in and I would be separated from all these greasy kids by a nice, thick, piece of glass Oh man, it is so hot out here! I m really working up a sweat!

5 Skippy: Here! (reaching inside backpack) I have an extra bottle of water if you need it Rocko: Are you still here? If you are trying to find a phone charger you better look somewhere else kid. Besides, I am preparing for the arrival of the parks owner and I don t think he would want to see me hanging out with a kid like you. I want Mr. Fil Finnegan to take me seriously and see that I am hanging out with important people around here. I don t have time for you kid! Skippy: Yeah, I m nobody special I am going to go ride Dueling Dragons. It is going to be the last thing I can probably do before I am grounded for life for running my battery out and not calling my parents (Skippy exit stage) Rocko: (Calling out to Skippy after he s gone) You got that right kid! Nobody special. Now if you don t mind. I am getting ready for someone REALLY important! Mr. Fil Finnegan owner of Beginigin Theme Park. Rocko exits stage Week #2 Bible Story/Game Instruction Video HOST OR GAME DIRECTOR FACILITATES GAME Rocko enters at conclusion of the game Rocko: Look at this mess those kids made with that hot dog game. I suppose I am going to have to clean this up too! Skippy: Oh hey mister remember me? Rocko: (Put hand out like one of those signs at theme parks) You must be THIS tall to ride certain rides and also THIS (Hand way up) tall for me to remember you or to spend my time talking to you. Skippy: Yeah, I see that I am don t quite measure up. Rocko: You got that right kid. I have to clean this mess up before Mr. Fil Finnegan arrives. He is a really important man around here. Skippy: Oh! Mr Finnegan! He is so nice. Rocko: YOU know Mr Finnegan? Skippy: Sure I met him while I was waiting in line for the Dueling Dragons ride. He was so nice. He let me use his phone to call my parents to tell them that my battery was dead. Boy, were they relieved!

6 Rocko: Yeah, well, I am sure he didn t have time for that! He is the owner of this theme park and he is a very important and rich man! Skippy: I could see he was important by the way everyone was crowding around him. Seemed like everyone who works here wanted to meet him. Rocko: And I suppose you just pushed you way in to see him? I m sure I ll hear about it from Butch, the Dueling Dragons ride operator. He was supposed to keep kids like you away from Mr Finnegan. Skippy: Well, that guy Butch did try to keep all of the kids away from Mr Finnegan, but Mr Finnegan told him that he wanted to be around kids and that is why he created this theme park in the first place. Rocko: If I were there I would have made sure no kids bothered Mr Finnegan! Skippy: Mr Finnegan told Butch that he likes kids! He told him about how the disciples tried to keep kids away from Jesus one day and Jesus told them that kids were important people and that they shouldn t be kept away. He also said that he has always loved being around kids and that is why he started Beginagin Theme Park. He was such a nice man. Rocko: If kids were so important how come no one ever treated me very nice when I was a kid? Skippy: Maybe people didn t know about Jesus. Knowing Jesus changes the way we treat others, whether you re a grown up or a kid. All I know is that Jesus loved kids and wanted kids to know about Him. I already know that Jesus loves me. Rocko: (Trying to hide his emotions) Yeah, well that s just great who cares if Jesus loves kids. It s too late for me. I ain t no kid! Skippy: Jesus has always loved you Mister! He loved you before you were even born and he still loves you! Jesus loves you and do you know how I know? Because the Bible tell me so. You are just like a kid to Jesus. You re HIS kid and He wants all kids to come to him! Rocko: (Sorry for the way he has treated Skippy) Ugh listen.you re a pretty good kid.i um I m sorry for the way I spoke to you earlier. I guess Jesus wouldn t want me treating you that way. Fil Finnegan is a smart man and he sounds like he treats kids the way Jesus would. Skippy: Thanks Mister! You know my parents should be here any minute. I am supposed to meet them and Mr Finnegan at the Burger Stand. Want to join us? Rocko: (Hesitant) I better not I think Mr Fil Finnegan is too busy for someone like me.

7 Skippy: No way! You re a child of the king just like me! Rocko and Skippy exit stage HOST/WORSHIP LEADER ENTERS HOST/WORSHIP/WRAP UP That worker had never really understood how valuable he was and he also treated others as if they were not very valuable. The Bible reminds us that we are all valuable to God. Jesus loves us all so much that he died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. I think that is a good reminder of how valuable we are! No matter what age we are, whether we are young or old we all matter to Jesus. The contestants in our game were all valuable because they needed to work together. Each one mattered! Here is what you need to know this week. I am valuable to God (Have kids repeat) NEED TO KNOW WEEK #2 We get to sing one more song about living a life of victory in Christ! Our next song is called We are Free, and I m going to remind you how it goes! I would love for all of you to go ahead and stand up while we go over the motions... With one voice we will shout We won t back down Whoa We scream in victory For you our King Whoa We are free Hands cup mouth, 3 fist pumps We will shout Cross arms in front of body Arms wave overhead 5 X s Hands cup mouth, 3 fist pumps on victory Point up 3X s Arms wave overhead 5 X s Arms wave 4 X/s/ Jump with fist pumps You guys come down front and let s sing together! 8 Even when people say hurtful things to us and are mean, we can remember that we are valuable to God. God wants to hear our thoughts, worries, and prayers because we are important to Him! Before you leave I want to remind you to pick up your June Calendar if you haven t already gotten one. You can use it to help you read your Bible everyday. And also, pick up your 5 invites so you can invite your friends to join you next week. Let s all pray together before we go. You guys pray with me! Example of prayer: Jesus, thank you for showing us that we are valuable to you. Help us remember that no matter what we do, you will always see us as valuable! AMEN!
