1 1.0 PURPOSE 016/08/6 1/11 This specification describes the procedure for working with the Vale standard drawing border in Microstation V8i, covering the border insertion and filling the border information..0 GENERAL The Microstation configuration must be set up with the correct CAD resource files as outlined in SPEC Important note: Data that is entered in the drawing border/title block is automatically read into Vale s drawing database upon archiving, so it is essential that the information is entered using only the custom tag sets that are built-in to the border. 3.0 CREATING A NEW DRAWING All new drawings for Vale are created using Microstation V8i. The drawing seed file is V8_seed_d.dgn. The drawing border V8border is then inserted as a cell, at the appropriate scale, from cell library viborder.cel. Revision History Tags When you first insert a border, the revision history tags may display. Do NOT delete the tags. If your preference is to not display these tags, simply turn off the display of that level See next step

2 016/08/6 /11 Go to the Level list and un-check the level border revision history tags Note that the Rev History disappears 4.0 FILLING IN THE BORDER INFORMATION To fill in the border information, in the key-in browser, enter: vba run borderdialog and a dialog box will appear. Shortcut Suggestion Rather than entering the VBA run borderdialog command each time, one of the unused function keys can be configured to perform the command.

3 016/08/6 3/11 This Drawing Border Dialog box will appear 1. Pick the Plant Name drop-down and select the plant.. Note that the Plant No. in the drawing number field, and the Operations field, automatically populate 1. Enter or Pick the Area. Note: the area list only shows common areas. It does not list all areas in all plants. Information can also be manually entered in this field. A current list of Area Numbers can be found in the Drawing Management System (jdms) or can be requested through drawing controls.

4 016/08/6 4/11 1. Enter or Pick the Classification. Note: the Classification list is not limited to the list in the drop-down menu. Other typical examples can be found in SPEC- 0800, Section 7.0 Information can be entered manually in this field. 1. Enter the Drawing Title Line of the title has a drop-down with a number of common nd line titles and is not limited to the list. Information can be entered manually in this field. Note: do not use fractions or special characters in the Title 1 or Title Fields.

5 016/08/6 5/11 1. Enter the Drawing No. In this example: 46 Plant 100 Area F Discipline Assigned digit number 1. Enter the Revision number or use the up/down arrows to pick it. Rev 0 is not used at Vale Rev 1 is the first rev that gets archived usually Issued for Construction (IFC) Tender, Review, or other information issues are not assigned a Rev No. A revision letter may be assigned for pre- IFC issues, but the Vale Revision History is not filled in. A Consultant may add their own issue block for recording pre-ifc issues, but that issue block is normally removed at time of Rev 1 - IFC

Old Drawing Number is occasionally used in the rare case of a drawing number change, or in a case where a raster drawing is vectorized and an old format number exists (example ORD678). Double-click the date icon 3. The calendar appears 4. Click Today for current date or pick a date and commit 5. Done

7 016/08/6 7/11 Fill the Revision History 1. Click on Revision History. Enter the Vale Engineering Job No. 3. Enter the Rev description followed by the consultant s Co. name in brackets - Issued for Construction (ABC Engineering) 4. Double-click date field - same date functionality as previously noted 5. Enter names 1 st initial, Surname 6. Save Changes and exit Note: Drawn by and Checked by cannot be the same person; Approved by and Reviewed by cannot be the same person On the next Screen click Done to populate the Rev History block

8 016/08/6 8/11 Note: Rev 1 is always displayed as the top spot in the revision history Subsequent revisions are listed in reverse order below that. The current Rev is always displayed in the nd spot. Example: If a drawing is at Rev 4, the revisions will be listed in the following order: 1,4,3, Fill the Reference Drawings This Drawing Border Dialog box will appear Select Reference Drawings

9 016/08/6 9/11 1. Enter drawing no and title. Save Changes and Exit 3. On next screen - Done 1. To display the next 6-10 and/or reference drawings, turn on the required levels

Note: The revision notes are a summary of the changes and may not necessarily be a complete list. A risk code is entered for each revision and if applicable, the revision notes will describe how risk was addressed for the revision. Risk Code A Risk Category This revision is a minor change and/or introduces no risk. B C Risk has been addressed for this revision by the reviewer and approver. Low risk or no new hazards identified. For this revision, a PHR or other risk management tool has been used to address risk and minimize hazards. This risk assessment has been documented and is available through Central Engineering.
