Option code overview in the Detailed Specification document 7. Use of option code and combined option code 1. Introduction: This document describes the layout, option codes and option descriptions used for chassis components in all Euro 6 detail drawings. As a general approach each detail drawing will be associated with a specific axle configuration and where possible made unique per vehicle series as well. Shown in the examples are the identification of specific detail drawings in relation to the generic chassis drawing. Additionally a typical breakdown of CAD information, as used in some of the detail components, is presented with suggestions on how to use this data. The naming and coding applied in the detail drawings aim to facilitate easier and more failsafe communication between the DAF dealer and the bodybuilder. The arrangements within the CAD files will supply more means for the bodybuilder engineer to determine individual chassis component positions in relation to parts of the superstructure. A detail component can be merged into a generic chassis drawing to produce a better representation of a quote or definite chassis specification. Note that this approach will only be possible with the CAD file formats August 2015

2. PDF and DXF file content PDF file: component layout and option codes Detail component views are in a top, side and rear view layout and in the 1:30 scale. These views represent individual chassis components with more detail information then what is visible in the main generic chassis drawing. Only a length, width and/or height measurement is attached to the component. Any other detail can be measured with the measuring tool standard available in the Adobe reader software. Where applicable the detail drawing will show a table with values of component locations that are related to the main chassis 0,0 coordinate point or the intersection point of rear axle and chassis center lines. Detail views are accompanied by one or more option codes that provide a component description as defined by the DAF sales system. The option codes make the detail view unique. A detail drawing may exist of multiple sheets (2, 3 or max. 4 sheets). In such case each individual sheet will have a short content description (in the right hand top corner) that covers the content of all sheets of that detail drawing. top-side-rear view and use of 5 digit option code numbers CAD (DXF) file: model information, coordinate system and layer structure Chassis components are positioned on a 2D coordinate system that reflects either: - the main chassis 0,0 coordinate point or - the intersection point of the chassis and rear axle center line. Some details within the component views are stored on dedicated CAD drawing layers and colors to enable easy, and individual, manipulation of their position. The distance between components in the top and side view are: o o o 5000 mm: when a single component fills up the full PDF page height note: is equal to the distance used between the main chassis drawing views 2000 mm: when two rows of components fill up the PDF page height 1500 mm: only used on the A, B and C detail drawing (= chassis cross members) August 2015

Examples of detail drawings and how to use detail drawings optimally Example 1: fuel tank layout, position and CAD layer break down a) fuel tank layout and position information (PDF format) b) fuel tank and bracket layer breakdown in CAD (DXF format) c) Manipulating the fuel tank and carrying brackets (DXF format only) Example 2: AdBlue tank position on main chassis drawing with detail drawing insert Example 3: exhaust system layout, position and CAD layer break down a) vertical exhaust system on main chassis drawing and detail drawing insert b) vertical exhaust system layer breakdown in CAD (DXF format) Example 4: change cab variant and air inlet pipe Example 5: identification of chassis cross member Example 6: chassis frame assembly (no chassis components) Example 7: cab - chassis assembly (with chassis components) August 2015

Example 1a: fuel tank layout and position information (PDF format) The drawing numbers used in this example are: - CF FA (MX-11) chassis drawing with WB 5100mm and 750 L (1 tank on LH side) => Fuel tank detail drawing L => (sheet 1, 2 and 3). Detail drawing consists of: sheet 1: visualized is option code 09639, fuel tank steel, height 580 mm => sheet 2: visualized is option code 09633, fuel tank Aluminum, height 620 mm sheet 3: visualized is option code 09633, fuel tank Aluminum, height 620 mm (dual tanks) Fuel tank assemblies are visualized with a top, side and rear view and positioned in relation to the first rear axle center line. The tank brackets are located on the distances A, B and C from the center line of the first rear axle and the tank itself by the distance C-D. Fuel tanks are in: - orange color when drawn on the left hand side of the chassis - red color when drawn on the right hand side of the chassis Carrier brackets are in: - green color when drawn on the left hand side of the chassis - blue color when drawn on the right hand side of the chassis Visible below is a section out of detail drawing sheet 2 that has listed the option code 03842: fuel tank 1x 750 liters. Please note that the 750 liter fuel tank and carrying bracket positions also can be identified on the generic chassis drawing although by another set of parameters August 2015

Reading the fuel tank capacity and height indicators: The fuel tank capacities applicable for any given axle configuration and wheelbase can be listed by two values (e.g. 300/340 ) when two tank variants are possible. Please note that in such case the two fuel tank capacities have different physical tank height dimensions. All tank height dimensions are listed in the last column. The fuel tank 300/340 and H580/H620 indicators must be interpreted as: - fuel tank capacity 300 L with a tank height of 580 mm - fuel tank capacity 340 L with a tank height of 620 mm August 2015

Example 1b: fuel tank and bracket layer breakdown in CAD (DXF format): Visible below is a section of sheet 2 illustrating the 750 liter fuel tank and its carrying brackets that are stored on their own specific CAD drawing layer. All grouped lines (tank / brackets) have their own coordinate point (small cross hear a and b ). These can be used as a reference when creating a different production released tank layout. When used in a generic chassis drawing then the top view coordinate point a has to coincide with intersection point (4) and the side coordinate point b with intersection (3) of the main generic chassis drawing. Visible below: the 750 liter tank on layer 71 a Visible below: the most left hand positioned tank carrying bracket on layer 72 b August 2015

Visible below: the tank carrying bracket in the middle position on layer 73 Visible below: the most right hand positioned tank carrying bracket on layer 74 Notes: 1) For good alignment of the fuel tank and bracket top views inside the main generic chassis drawing they have to be moved 3000 mm up in the Y-direction before copy & pasting is carried out. 2) It is recommended to rename own build layout creations to avoid conflicts with layer names and possible overwriting of existing layer information. 3) Component lines are grouped only when the CAD system variable that controls this feature is enabled. (For Autodesk AutoCAD LT: Object Grouping has to be set enabled) August 2015

Example 1c: Manipulating the fuel tank and carrying brackets (DXF format only) By moving the tank and brackets individually in different positions based on the values as shown in the location tables (PDF file only), and in accordance with the listed applicable conditions, it will be possible to create any production released tank layout. For building a production released fuel tank assembly it is advised to always extract the required information from a chassis specification made by a DAF salesman. An indication of the information needed to select the correct detail view can be found in the remark columns of the location tables and option code numbers as listed at the detail views. Height position of fuel tank assembly: The height position of a fuel tank assembly may vary within specific axle configurations and is made visible by values for letter K. This letter represents the distance that exists between the chassis frame lower flange and lowest point of the fuel tank carrier bracket. Visible below is a section from detail L drawing: showing a typical table with some fuel tank height related values. Notes: 1) For good alignment of the fuel tank and bracket top views inside the main generic chassis drawing they have to be moved 3000 mm up in the Y-direction before copy & pasting is carried out. 2) It is recommended to rename own build layout creations to avoid conflicts with layer names and possible overwriting of existing layer information August 2015

Example 2: AdBlue tank position on main chassis drawing with detail drawing insert The AdBlue tank is indicated with detail letter P on all chassis layout drawings and the tank volume displayed varies typically as a result of the component layout and chassis wheelbase used. The AdBlue tank layouts visible on the detail drawing each represent a production released position. The drawing numbers used in this example are: - CF FA (MX-11) generic chassis drawing => AdBlue tank detail drawing P => Selecting the 140 liter AdBlue tank on inserted detail P view is based on the following option codes: : AdBlue tank 140 liters, left side chassis : Side member height 310 mm : Day Cab - Sleeper Cab - Space cab - wheelbase range: 4500 mm up to and including 6900 mm Note: The distance between the front axle center line to the side of the AdBlue tank on a generic chassis layout drawing typically is identified by a value and letter combination. The value represented by the letter can be found on a table on the chassis drawing August 2015

Example 3a vertical exhaust system on main chassis drawing and detail drawing insert The vertical exhaust system on most generic chassis drawings is illustrated by a small piece of the vertical pipe behind the cab roof. By choosing the vertical exhaust system on the detail drawing based on the sales code numbers or by its unique descriptions a full top, side and rear view of the exhaust system can be found. The drawing numbers used in this example are: - CF FA (MX-11) chassis drawing => vertical exhaust system detail drawing G => (sheet 1 and 2 *). Detail drawing consists of: => sheet 1: visualized is option code 04220: DPF and SCR units on the chassis RH side sheet 2: visualized is option code 04221: DPF and SCR units on chassis LH & RH side Selecting the vertical exhaust system on inserted detail G view is based on the following option codes: : DPF and SCR at the right hand side : No auxiliary water heater : Sleeper Cab Note: The rear view of the exhaust system supplies additional information such as the routing of the diagonal mounting bracket that secures the upright pipes to the chassis August 2015

Example 3b vertical exhaust system layer breakdown in CAD (DXF format) Visible below is a section of sheet 1 (from example 3a) illustrating the vertical exhaust system and individual components that each are stored on their own specific CAD drawing layer. The grouped set of lines on each layer have been arranged around a small chassis section (on layer 20) that can be used as a reference for (re)positioning these components in other CAD files such as the main chassis drawing. By switching individual layers invisible it will become easier to evaluate specific exhaust component positions in relation to constructions that are part of the body construction fitted. The grouped lines represent: Specific layers for the exhaust i.c.w. Sleeper Cab - the carrying frame CAD layer 21 (cyan color) - the DPF and SCR unit CAD layer 22 (green color) - the heat shield of the DPF and SCR units CAD layer 23 (red color) - the heat shield at the vertical exhaust pipe CAD layer 24 (black color) Visible below: small chassis section on layer 20 and the carrying frame on layer August 2015

Visible below: small chassis section on layer 20 and DPF and SCR unit on layer 22 Visible below: chassis section on layer 20 and of the heat shield of the DPF and SCR units on layer August 2015

Visible below: chassis section on layer 20 and the heat shield at the vertical exhaust pipe on layer 24 Visible in above image is the heat shield model to be used with a cab that has side fenders fitted. The model designed for the no cab fender layout is also available on the same layer. Notes: 1) For good alignment of the exhaust system in the main chassis drawing there is no repositioning required when a copy & past action is carried out. 2) It is recommended to rename own build detail creations to avoid conflicts with layer names and possible overwriting of existing layer information August 2015

Example 4: change cab variant and air inlet pipe The drawing numbers used in this example are: - CF FA (MX-11) chassis drawing showing the CF (3 in 1) combination cab => CF cab overview drawing (sheet 1, 2, 3 and 4). Drawing consists of the follow CF cab variants: => sheet 1: visualized is Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab i.c.w. MX-11 sheet 2: visualized is Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab i.c.w. MX-13 sheet 3: visualized is Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab; Construction execution i.c.w. MX-11 sheet 4: visualized is Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab; Construction execution i.c.w. MX-13 Visible below is sheet 1 of cab overview drawing Each cab variant is visualized with a top, side and rear view. More air intake systems are visible when available in the sales option lists. CAD drawing layer 75 => Day Cab; CAD layer 76 => Sleeper Cab; CAD layer 77 => Space Cab Prepare extracted Day Cab and switch high air intake by low air intake in 5 steps Visible in image below: 1) Isolated high air intake pipe by selecting the RED colored items within the full Day Cab on layer 75. 2) To be deleted in the side and top view: the high air inlet as marked by the black arrow August 2015

3) the cyan and blue colored low air intake components are moved 2000 mm to the left. 4) the Day Cab fully set visible, saved and renamed for use in the generic drawing. Prepare generic drawing by hiding or deleting the 3 in 1 combination cab Visible below is generic drawing in DXF with deleted cab and front wheel 5) Switch to invisible or delete cab layers: 13, 136, 200, 211, 212, 213, 215, 216, 217, 219 and 228. Switch to invisible or delete front wheel layers: 30 and August 2015

Finalize generic drawing with Day Cab and low air intake Insert the prepared Day Cab file (see step 4) into generic chassis drawing at the 0,0 coordinate. Alternative method for cab exchange activities on generic chassis drawings All CF and XF Euro 6 cab variants are individually prepared (2D-DXF) and ready for use (in any CAD related system). They can be downloaded from the DAF BodyBuilder Information Plus website! Notes: - for the DAF BodyBuilder Information Plus website the use of a login and password are mandatory. - all prepared cab files are accessible via the (header) menu button drawing and page menu button Euro 6. See image below August 2015

Example 5: identification of chassis cross member The drawing numbers used in this example are: - CF FA (MX-11) chassis drawing showing the WB 5100 mm chassis frame => A-B-C chassis cross member detail drawing (sheet 1, 2 and 3). Drawing consists of: sheet 1: visualized is detail A: cross member, tow hook sheet 2: visualized is detail B: cross member front => sheet 3: visualized is detail C: cross member rear Each cross member that is visible in the overall A-B-C detail drawings is marked with a location indicator C1, C2 or C3. As a standard procedure the C2 area always incorporates the rear axle suspension cross member. Visible below is a small section from A-B-C detail sheet 3 showing the miniature chassis frame top view identifying the C1, C2 and C3 areas. These areas always include a specific set of cross members. Important: please note that the C1, C2 and C3 areas will include a different set of cross members in case a single- or multi-rear axle chassis configuration is chosen. A different miniature top view layout will cover the difference. Visible below is the top view of chassis drawing with only detail letter C left visible for easy recognition. Checked against the miniature top view area C1 has only 1x cross member and C3 is not applicable for the chassis layout presented. The last cross member belongs to area C August 2015

Identification of the last cross member in the C2 area. Depending on the vehicle specification a chassis may be equipped with internal reinforcement profiles running the full or only a partly length of the chassis main frame. Subsequently, most cross members are designed with an overall width of 766mm or 776 mm to compensate for the lateral chassis (internal) width differences. Visible below is a section of the C2 area presenting the rear most cross member. The cross member choice is depending on the following option codes: mm cross member (on the left) in case of option : no reinforcement mm cross member (on the left) in case of option : front reinforcement (= at front axle) mm cross member (on the right) in case of option 04005: full length reinforcement August 2015

Example 6: chassis frame assembly (no chassis components) The multitude of chassis rear overhang variants on generic chassis drawings are as standard not displayed but specified in a table with dimensions. To enable the quick creation of a bare chassis frame representing the desired WB/AE configuration the FRAME detail drawing can be used. The drawing number used in this example is: - FRAME detail drawing => (source: generic chassis drawing ) Detail drawing consists of: The bare chassis frame in see through top and side view (scale 1:30) and all of the rear overhang variants that are possible with the displayed wheelbase (not visible in image below: all possible chassis reinforcement profiles). Visible below is the combination of the chassis front end and the 740 mm rear overhang section Note: the chassis profile height is 260 mm August 2015

Example 7: cab - chassis assembly (with chassis components) The layout of a non-definite (or definite) chassis specification can differ in any degree from the closest relevant chosen generic chassis layout drawing on the BBI website. Situations may occur that the actual chassis rear overhang and component positions are required to aid the development of a helper frame or to position a superstructure correctly. The information used in this example is based on the FA CF MX-11 specifications as listed in the table below. Available Generic chassis drawing Required: According Detailed Specification doc Option codes WB 4000 mm AE 1700 mm OK AE 740 mm ) LL=310 mm LL=260 mm ) Day + Sleeper + Space Cab Day Cab Air intake behind cab Air intake on roof DPF/SCR RH + horizontal exhaust DPF/SCR RH + vertical exhaust ) 340L fuel tank (aluminum) 300L fuel tank (steel) ) 90L AdBlue 50L AdBlue Ah Battery box LH side OK 1) Option code = WB400/AE074 2) combination option code consists of: 2393: Side member height 260 mm 4000: Side member 7.0 mm, no reinforcement 3) combination option code consists of: 6722: Exhaust discharge at the right-hand side, upward 4220: DPF and SCR at the right-hand side 4) combination option code consists of: 1267: Fuel tank 1x300 litres 9639: Fuel tank steel, height 580 mm Note: The short option code summary was extracted from a document called Detailed Specification report. 25 6. Option code overview in the Detailed Specification document A multi-page document called Detailed Specification can be generated with TOPEC IST ( Integrated Sales Tool ), the quotation and ordering tool that is generally available for the DAF sales organization. This document lists all option codes that are part of a quotation or definite configured chassis specification. The option code overview can be used when selecting individual detail drawings and possibly for the creation of a specific chassis drawing. Consult your DAF sales representative for obtaining this (back office) document or any other document that contains comparable option based information August 2015

7. Use of option code and combined option code In the table below are listed a small number of combined option codes that typically can be found in chassis specification documents. The combined option code represents a logic link that exist between two or more option codes that can be part of a chassis configuration. Please note that the combination option code is not used in the detail drawings. If and when required support can be provided by the DAF dealer when a breakdown of these combined option codes is required. Some examples of a combination option code brake down are shown below.
