PS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS NO. 1 ISSUED ON MARCH 4, 2016 Q1 Would it be possible to schedule another site visit to allow an opportunity for additional subcontractors to view existing conditions? A1 Q2 A2 Q3 A3 Yes, a second information meeting will be held, only those who attended the Mandatory Information Meeting on February 26, 2016 and their subcontractors will be invited. Are we to include for the cost of the Building Permit? Field Review Building Permit Application has already been issued by the City and paid for by the project. The Contractor and their subs will be responsible to apply for and pay for any building trade permits required by the project. It is state in Part B Terms and Conditions of the ITT Process that If there is a conflict between or among (i) the Specifications and (ii) the other Tender Documents, the other Tender Documents shall prevail over the Specifications and Drawings What are the other Tender Documents? The other Tender Documents are contained in the Schedules or otherwise incorporated by reference. Q4 4. Disposal of waste generated in the performance of this work a. Are we to include for disposal fees? b. Can the old pipe system be recycled at the Transfer Station? Will there be a cost or salvage value? c. Is there space for bins on site? It was mentioned at the site meeting that all waste must be weighed and presumably sorted. Please clarify. A4 a. Yes, this forms part of the cost in Line 1.01 of Schedule A-Quantities and Prices b. yes it can be recycled at the CoV Recycling Depot. However, all material must be tracked by material type and weight. It also must meet our size restrictions which can be discussed at the time of the disposal depending on the material type. 2 Prior to award of the contract, the old system components will need to be identified for salvage, recycling or disposal in the Waste Management Plan (See Specifications). c. Very limited lay-down space is available, therefore interim storage of materials may be required until bringing bins on site is justified. Sorting will be dictated by the details contained within the Waste Management Plan to be prepared for the project. Q5 5. Where does the asbestos, lead paint and or lead dust impact this project? a. The Hazmat Investigation Report does not identify material specific to this project. The report also states This survey is not designed to be used for construction, renovation or demolition purposes. If renovation or construction activities are planned, additional intrusive investigation may be required to identify concealed hazardous materials. Please advise if we are to include abatement of hazardous materials. A5 5. Asbestos occurs in the caulking found in the concrete joints of the external walls. It is not expected that this material will be disturbed in the course of this project. Lead paint will be encountered in the existing spray system bollards. The bollards are to be removed and disposed (see Demolition Drawing P5-DEMO) following appropriate abatement procedures as required. See Detail 3 on attached Reference Drawing S10 for details regarding these bollards. All settled dust is to be identified as suspect lead-containing and tested for appropriate handling procedures. a. All settled dust is to be identified as hazardous. It is suspect lead-containing and guano-contaminated and safe work procedures are required where it is disturbed. Silica is present in concrete and coring will require safe work procedures acceptable to WorkSafe BC. Q6 A6 Q7 A7 Is X-raying of concrete slab required prior to coring for new mechanical pipes and electrical conduits? This also applies to the concrete walls that require coring. On Grid Lines 2 & 10 there is a single line of X s, are these pipe supports or some other type of support? There is no cross section thru these areas. Please clarify what type of support is required. These X s occur on the following Drawings: M101-M01, M101-M02, E101-E01, E101-E02. Although these represent pipe and conduit supports, the number and spacing is not representative of what will be required. Specification Piping Support Systems provides design, spacing and submittal requirements for all supports other than those supports on Baylines E & G found on the Structural Drawings. The following photo shows several of the supports on part of the existing spray and hose bib systems. This is an acceptable option for supporting pipes and conduit from the Page 2 of 5

3 concrete walls and columns, in accordance with Specification Piping Support Systems. Q8 A8 Q9 A9 Q10 A10 On drawing M101-M06 it states Structural supports for the air curtains shall be connected to and span between concrete walls at each side of the door openings and not from the precast concrete roof members above. Can the support be connected as well to the wall above the door headers? Yes, as long as the Contractor designs the steel wall framing above the doors for the loads and to span and connect to concrete walls each side and not to the precast concrete (precast spandrel) above. Reference Drawings A12 and S14 show the metal panels and typical details at the overhead doors. How is the bird netting fastened to the concrete beams? Can we drill or use powder actuated nailer to refasten the netting? Clips and anchors (see photo in A10 below) Drill Yes (drilled pilot hole with concrete anchor screws) Powder actuated The detail 2/4 from reference drawing S14 shows the existing concrete beam as a Precast I beam with sloped surface that the pipe support would mounted on to and Typical Pipe Support Cross-Section detail from tender drawing M101-S01 shows flat surface that the pipe supports would mount on to. Please clarify which detail is correct. If detail 2/4 on reference drawing S14 is existing please provide revised pipe support detail that will be able to mount on to a sloped surface. See both details attached for reference. The detail on tender drawing M101-S01 is correct. Attached is Girder Detail Dwg S14, an excerpt from Reference Drawing S14 that documents that the Precast I beam was Revised to Inverted T-Beam. Page 3 of 5

Attached are additional Reference Drawings that provide these details. Are the fire rated walls shown on the drawings?
