1 The Grand Valley Grapevine Official Monthly Newsletter of Grand Valley G.V.H.A Mill Springs, New Port Richey, FL March 2018 Editor: Connie Cote 727/ Brenda Brady, Park Manager Emergency Number FROM THE PRESIDENT Hopefully, by the time you read this, the flu and all other illnesses that have impacted us all has now passed. I want to thank those who attended the February General Meeting. I was pleased with the turnout and the participation from the members. This was a small, but positive start with communication between the Board and the members. I have added the Who s Who section in this Grapevine with the current Board contact information. The Board can be contacted anytime by . If you use a golf cart and attending a function, you can park on the Osteen side of the building on the grass, or on the grass across from the parking lot. This will leave parking spaces for cars. Did you know Grand Valley has it s own Facebook page? Just search for Grand Valley New Port Richey and ask to join. This is a good source of information to find what s happening and stay in touch with community friends. In January, several Board members met with management and requested an enclosed message board to advertise our events and important community news, that would be protected from the outdoor elements. Management is researching ideas for this for us. We will keep you updated. The electrical outlet by the pool has been replaced. See you all at the :Strawberry Sunday event. FROM THE EDITOR All items must be given to Connie by the 20th of the month. ALL NEWSLETTERS WILL BE HAND DE- LIVERED TO YOUR HOME. They can be ed to snowbirds if you let me know when you leave and when you are to return. I you prefer a mailed copy just provide self addressed and stamped envelopes for the months you will be away. NEW DIRECTORY A new directory for 2018 is in the works. Please see the following page, fill out all information you want listed and submit it to Dan Bell, 8101 Cedar Creek or Tom Ingalls 8038 Cedar Creek NO LATER THAN APRIL 1ST. The Rent Negotiation Committee is looking for three volunteers, ASAP. You do not have to be a member to volunteer. This is a standalone committee and does not fall under the HOA. For more information please contact Mark Nelson at Gvalleytrsr@gmail.com or The By-Law Committee is looking for three more volunteers to review the recent legislative changes, not for profit regulations and FL Statute723. Contact Denise Kingsburg at Gvalleypres@gmail.com or Denise Kingsbury

4 SOCIAL COMMITTEE Some of our guests at the February dance went home with heavier pockets. Jim Craig, Betty MacDonald and Pauline Nelson won Applebee s gift cards. Then Nancy Crofoot and Pauline Nelson got their fair share of the 33 1/3 drawing. On Sunday March 4th we are having a Strawberry Sunday. Join us at the pool/pavilion for strawberry shortcake made with your choice of angel food cake or biscuits with real whipped cream. The cost is $3.00 and tickets are available from the office or the Nadeaus. Ticket deadline is March 1st to allow for shopping. On March 17th we will celebrate with a St. Patrick s Day dinner. Menu includes a choice of corned beef with all the fixins, or, for the Scotsmen, a boiled hamdinner. Because this event takes a lot of assistance, we need volunteers for cooking the corned beef. Everything will be purchased by the committee and delivered to your home for cooking. If you can help, call Jo Ann or Ed at 727/ We have been shopping for a low cost corn beef, but none to be found, so unfortunately we had to up the price of the meal to $9pp. When you purchase your tickets, please designate corned beef or ham. Cut off date is Wednesday, March 14th. No Exceptions. We are also looking for volunteers to provide desserts. Don t forget to mark your calendar for April 14th to say goodbye to our snowbirds at our pizza party. We will have entertainment by The Voices. Every month Connie puts fliers in the Grapevine. Please pull them out and place them on your refrigerator as a reminder. This will give the street captains less sore feet. LADIES LUNCHEON Our next Ladies Luncheon will be March 13th at 1pm at Chili s on US19, just north of Embassy. Please see the sign up sheet in the clubhouse. Questions? Call Mary Jane Sellers 312/ Don t forget! Thursday Music at the home of Frank and Ollie Parnell, 8141 Bull Run each and every Thursday at 1pm. Everyone is welcome.
