One of the most popular stitches, right angle weave is an ideal stitch to start you on the road to beadweaving. The pendant is composed of two parts, which you will learn to make in class, using tubular peyote and tubular herringbone stitches. Use beautiful crystal baguettes and bicones, Delicas and seed beads to weave these components, and then finish the spiralled herringbone necklace later with the written instructions. Using innovative stitching techniques, you will fashion a netted structure with bugle beads that encapsulates a row of Swarovski crystals the color of your choice. Using size 11 metal beads, you ll learn how to box in semi precious stones or crystals, then weave them together to create this industrialesque bracelet. We will create the flower only, so you can make it into a necklace, a brooch, a hair accessory or anything you can imagine. Session 1: Saturday, July 28 11am-5pm Freeform Peyote Ruffles* Instructor: Karen Williams $45 Create a beaded sculpture that you can wear! A variation on freeform peyote, we will focus specifically on ruffles. We will start by discussing potential color schemes and ways to move colors and textures through your piece to help integrate the design. You'll be able to complete a smaller project like a pair of earrings or pendant, or make a good start on a larger project such as a bracelet. Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Knowledge of flat peyote stitch. Session 1: Sunday, June 10 11am-5pm Beaded Bezel* Instructor: Karen Williams $45 Capture any relatively flat, cabochon-shaped object in a net of regular and random right angle weave with a decorative peyote stitch border. The captured cabochon can be worn as a brooch, used as a pendant or incorporated into more complex designs. Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Knowledge of right angle weave. Setting stones and using enamels and gold leaf will enhance the surface texture of the rings. Learn how to make this great fundamental chain, and get ideas for creating modern variations. Keep your bracelet sleek and simple, or dress it up with beads, crystals or charms. Science fair meets jewelry adventure in what is sure to become a favorite technique for modifying metal. Learn to build a compact etching system using repurposed household goods as well as several different techniques of resist and image transfer. We will also learn how to create more detailed and textural images using multi-layer etches and patina techniques.
