Stringing BASIC BEAD STRINGING - $25 Instructor: Mariella Level: Beginner Prerequisite: None Learn how to lay out and assemble basic necklaces and bracelets. We ll cover various stringing materials, findings and tools needed to complete a professional quality piece. If you have a basic stringing project or beads in mind, you are welcome to bring them. Saturday, July 27th Friday, August 23rd Saturday, September 28th BEAD KNOTTING - $25 Instructor: Nicky Level: Motivated Beginner Prerequisite: None Knotting is a surprisingly simple and straight-forward skill. You ll learn traditional knotting between beads as well as spaced knotting (floating bead effect). You can bring beads and a clasp or choose beads during the break. Either way, we ll help you select the right size stringing material. Saturday, July 20th Friday, August 9th Wednesday, September 25th Kid s Classes BEAD STRINGING JUST FOR KIDS - $20 Instructor: Mariella Level: Beginner (Ages 7-13) Prerequisite: None This class is designed for children who are interested in having fun learning about beads. They will learn what beads are made of, how to create patterns, and to identify focal beads, accent beads and filler beads. No experience necessary. Everyone will leave class with a finished necklace of their own design. Wednesday, July 24th 10:30-12:30pm Monday, August 5th 3-5pm EARRINGS JUST FOR KIDS - $20 Instructor: Mariella Level: Beginner (Ages 7-13) Prerequisite: None This class is designed for children who are interested in learning how to make earrings, both studs and dangly ones. The basic loop technique will be taught in this class. No experience necessary. Everyone will leave class with two pairs of finished earrings of their own design. 3 Beadweaving Bohemian Loomed Bracelet - $25 Instructor: Kristin Level: Any Prerequisite: None This is a great class for anyone ages 8 and up. Learn how to set up a loom and make these simple bohemian loomed bracelets. You will also learn to finish them off with some macrame knots and a slide or clasp. These are a quick, fun, versatile and so fashionable. Sunday, July 28th Saturday, August 10th BEGINNING PEYOTE STITCH - $25 Instructor: Nicky Level: Any Prerequisite: None This is a great class for the aspiring seed bead artist. You ll become familiarized with different beading threads, needles and a variety of seed beads, as well as the off-loom technique. You will make peyote stitch tubes for unique earrings in class. All supplies for the tube earrings are included. Starting the bracelet is an option - all techniques for the bracelet will be covered. Bracelet will not be completed in class. Sunday, September 29th MODern Loom- $35 Instructor: Nicky Level: Motivated Beginner/Intermediate Prerequisite: None Learnto make a sophisticated, fashion forward bracelet on a loom. This is a two-part class. In the first half, you ll learn how to set up the loom and start the loom work. The following week, you ll finish the piece with a great leather closure. We supply the needles, delicas, leather, thread and snaps to keep. Part I: Sunday August 4th 4-6pm Part II: Sunday, August 11th 4-6pm Part I: Saturday, September 21st 4-6pm Part II: Saturday, September 28th 4-6pm BEGINNING RIGHT ANGLE WEAVE - $35 Instructor: Nicky Level: Any Prerequisite: None Learn the basics of single needle, right angle weave from Nicky, author of Beaded Amulet Purses. She knows this stitch. The bracelet is a wonderful project to introduce to your repertoire. The bracelet will not be completed in class, but can be finished at home. There is an optional free follow-up session for those who would like help putting the finishing touches on the bracelet. 4 Beadweaving Beginning Brick Stitch - $25 Instructor: Nicky Level: Any Prerequisite: None Get acquainted with the basic brick stitch technique while making a fashionable pair of earrings. You will complete one of the earrings in class. Brick stitch is a great complementary stitch with peyote stitch and allows for more design versatility. Sunday, August 18th Epoxy Resin & Clay RESIN I: RESIN PICTURE PENDANTS - $45 Instructor: Kristin Level: Any Prerequisite: None You will learn the basics of using epoxy resin to create custom picture pendants. We will cover techniques for filling bezels and doming tiles using photographs, decorative paper, printed images or other 2D objects. The pieces made in class will need to cure for 72 hours and can be picked up at the store as soon as 3 days after the class. Please do not wear loose clothing to class. Bringing additional printed materials or photographs you would like to practice with is optional. There will be an optional, free second session to learn professional finishing techniques and address any issues or questions you might have about your cured pieces. Sunday, August 4th Finishing class (optional) Friday, August 9th 5-6pm Saturday, August 31st 4-7pm Finishing class (optional) Saturday, September 7th 5-6pm RESIN II - $45 EMBEDDING, CASTING & MOLD MAKING Instructor: Kristin Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Resin I or equivalent For those who are familiar with the basics of working with resin, this is the next step. In this fast paced class you will learn a wide variety of new skills that will unleash your imagination, including using molds, embedding 2D and 3D objects (for a layered, textured or floating effect), coating paper and fabric in resin, creating faux opals, amber and more. You will also learn how to make your own mold from an existing object. The pieces made in class will need to cure for 72 hours and can be picked up at the store as soon as 3 days after the class. Please do not wear loose clothing to class. There will be a free, optional second session to learn professional finishing techniques and address any issues or questions you might have about your cured pieces. 5 Epoxy Resin & Clay COLD ENAMELING - $40 Instructor: Kristin Level: Any Prerequisite: Resin I or equivalent (must be comfortable mixing and using 2 part epoxy resin) Cold enameling adds lasting color and depth to your jewelry pieces. The effect is like kiln enameling, but without the glass powders, torch or kiln. The process is quick, easy to learn, and opens up new creative possibilities, including custom colors. In this class you will learn different techniques to achieve a wide range of effects. Please do not wear loose clothing to class. The pieces made in class will need to cure for 72 hours and can be picked up at the store as soon as 3 days after the class. Wednesday, July 17th 5-9pm Saturday, August 24th 2-6pm Sunday, September 22nd 10:30-2:30pm Epoxy Clay - $35 Instructor: Kristin Level: Any Prerequisite: None Learn the basics of working with Apoxie epoxy clay. This is a great new product with a lot of versatility. It can be used as an adhesive, and cures without heat or special equipment into a solid, durable piece. In class you will learn the basics of working with epoxy clay as well as mixing custom colors, adding embelishments for unique pendants, transfering images to epoxy clay, and creating focal beads and charms using molds. You will also learn a unique faux stone technique that can be used to create custom pendants, beads, buttons and more! Friday, August 30th Metal Smithing INTRODUCTION TO THE BUTANE TORCH - $25 BALLED END HEADPINS Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None If you make jewelry with wire, it s likely you use plenty of headpins. This class is designed for those who want to reduce their costs on findings and add another personal element to their work. The torch used in class is unintimidating and easy to work with. Students will learn the most basic metalsmithing technique for creating balled headpins with fine silver, sterling silver and copper. This class covers safety and use of a butane torch, basic equipment and the least toxic chemicals needed (some are simple household products)along with pertinent chemical safety considerations. Please do not wear very loose clothing or open toed shoes to class. Friday, July 19th Saturday, August 10th

6 Metal Fundamentals - The Jeweler s Saw - $45 Cutting and Piercing Metals Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire I or equivalent Add a new dimension to your work and save money by creating your own metal shapes and jump rings. This fundamentals class introduces students to several exciting, new skills and tools including the jeweler s saw, metal shears, jeweler s files and piercing tools. In class you will learn a number of easy methods for cutting basic shapes from sheet metal and jump rings from wire. You ll also learn a variety of finishing techniques to easily incorporate these pieces into earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Students will leave class with two pairs of earrings and components for pendants and charms. Sunday, September 29th 10:30-4:30pm Metal Smithing Basic Solution Patinas for Metals- $25 Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None Add a new dimension to your metal or wire work with simple solution patinas. In this class, students will work with Liver of Sulphur as well as a variety of non-toxic household products to accelerate natural patinas on both silver and copper. Sealants and preservation methods will also be covered. Feel free to bring any silver or copper you d like to patina. Saturday, August 3rd Patinas II - $45 Coloring Metals Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None This faux patinas class will teach a variety of easy methods for applying surface color to filigree components and textured metals of any kind. It s a fun, easy way to create unique effects ranging from sweet and subtle to vibrant and striking. In class we ll cover alcohol inks, gilder s paste, pastels, colored pencils, powdered pigments; etc. Each colored piece can stand on its own or be combined to create earrings, pendants or bracelets. Sunday, September 8th 10:30-4:30pm Textures for Metals- $25 Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None Learn to create a variety of simple surface textures on wire and sheet metal in this fast paced and fun metals class. Students will work with a range of hammers, stamps and abrasives to obtain surface designs on any metal. Students will also learn to create simple texturing tools with kitchen tools and hardware store items. Create earrings, pendants or background pieces to combine with other metal/wire skills Feel free to bring any metals you d like to texture in class. Sunday, July 14th

7 Metal Smithing Easy Metal ETCHING - $45 Instructor: Christina Level:Any Prerequisite: Prior work with metals helpful, but not mandatory In this easy and fun metals class, students will learn to transfer hand drawn and rubber stamp images onto the surface of copper or brass. A low-tech solution will be used to etch the design onto the surface of the metal to create a three-dimensional image. Incorporate the pieces you create in class into pendants, earrings or as a stamping for any project. This process is very simple and easy to replicate at home. Feel free to bring rubber stamps you d like to work with. Wear play clothes. Sunday, July 28th 10:30-4:30pm Saturday, September 28th 10:30-4:30pm Metal Etching II - $45 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Easy Metal Etching or prior etching experience This class is the second in the etching series and expands etching skills to include copier transfers and combining image transfer methods. Students will also learn double sided etching, different resists and additives, overlays and over-etching. Extend the possibilities of basic metal etching with this high energy, intermediate level class.feel free to bring rubber stamps you d like to work with and/or laser copied images on glossy photo paper or photo transfer sheet. Wear play Clothes. Sunday, August 18th 10:30-4:30pm Heavy Metal Cuff Bracelet - $40 Instructor: Christina Level: Advanced Prerequisite: Introduction to the Butane Torch or prior butane torch experience The cuff bracelet has always been a popular fashion choice as it is easy to wear and can either be simple and elegant or bold and dramatic. In this class you ll begin with texturing and annealing heavier gauge copper or brass and applying a heat patina. You ll then cut and form this metal into a cuff bracelet of your own design. Saturday, September 14th 10:30-3:30pm TEXTURED Bead Caps - $40 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Introduction to the Butane Torch or prior butane torch experience Learn to create custom, textured bead caps with a few simple tools and a butane torch. In this intermediate metals class, students will learn to use a dapping block and punches to create concave forms. Create the perfect cap for any size bead. Pre-cut brass and copper blanks will be used in class as well instruction for using templates to create blanks from decorative tin or any metal you choose. Saturday, July 20th 10:30-3:30pm

8 Metal Smithing STACKED & RIVETED EARRINGS - $25 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire I or equivalent Riveting is a great option for attaching metals without solder or glue. In this class you ll learn how to layer, dap and rivet pre-cut metal shapes with a standard rivet of any size. You will also learn how to create a versatile connector finding with heavy gauge wire, and techniques and tools for cutting and piercing repurposed tin. You will complete a pair of earrings in class. Saturday, August 24th Riveted Pendants - $45 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent This cold connection is the perfect alternative to attaching metals with solder or glue. In this class you will learn several different techniques for riveting metal using wire, tacks, and tubing. You ll begin by using various methods to texture metal shapes, then use these pieces to create a layered pendant of your own design. This is a versatile metal smithing skill to add to your repertoire. Sunday, July 21st 10:30-4:30pm The Business of Jewelry Building your Jewery Brand- $35 Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None The term brand refers to the identity of your work and how your customer connects to it. In this interactive class students will work on discovering and developing clarity and vision about the unique personality of their work and the story it tells. You will leave with a strategy for creating distinguishable and consistent marketing materials that identify your signature as a designer. This is not another stuffy business class, but a fast paced, fun experience that will inspire and nurture your brilliant, creative self. Please bring a number of examples of your work. Saturday, September 7th 10:30-2:30pm Reality Pricing Your Jewelry - $25 Instructor: Christina Level: Any Prerequisite: None There are many pricing methods and equations out there, each claiming to be the correct one. The standard business models often fall short for handcrafted items and we often make pricing choices that are irrational and not in our best interests. This class is for those who intend to sell their work and need a simple method for pricing that makes sense for an individual and unique set of circumstances. You will be amazed by how much better you feel when you learn to make reality-based choices in this area. Saturday, September 7th

We ll show you how the pros do it. With the jig, the bracelets are made in half the time and with none of the hassles of the clipboard method. Friday, July 12th Saturday, August 3rd Wednesday, August 21st Friday, September 6th Sunday, September 22nd IT WRAP BRACELET- $30 Instructor: Nicky Level: Any Prerequisite: None The wrap bracelet is the it bracelet for any season. Our exclusive and super easy off loom, highly portable method ensures superior durability and lots of design options to set your bracelet apart. It s a great way to use up all those left over beads. Sunday, August 25th FASHION MACRAME- $35 Instructor: Nicky Level: Any Prerequisite: None Learn basic macramé to make these great fashionable bracelets. You ve seen these in the small boutiques and fashion catalogs. We will finish a bracelet in class, so you ll learn to add the findings for a professional look. The macrame adjustable slide you will learn in this class is everywhere and customers continuously ask us how it s done. Friday, July 19th Saturday, August 17th Braided Wrap Bracelet - $25 Instructor: Mariella Level: Beginner Prerequisite: None This is a super easy braiding technique for a wonderful textured look. Quick and easy, no loom needed and perfect for fast on-trend gifts. Can be made with cording and seed beads for less than $6 per bracelet. We provide all supplies. 10 Wire Working WIRE I - BEGINNING WIRE WORKING - $25 THE BASIC LOOP Instructor: Christina Level: Beginner Prerequisite: None Learn the fundamentals of working with wire, findings and tools. We ll cover everything you need to know about tools and the different kinds of wire. You ll learn to form the simple loop that is the start of all wire working and make as many earrings as time allows. You can bring your own beads and two sets of earwires if you would like. Saturday, July 13th Wednesday, July 24th Sunday, August 4th Friday, September 6th Thursday, September 26th WIRE II - WIRE WRAPPING - $25 WRAPPING STANDARD AND TOP DRILLED BEADS Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire I or equivalent Using the fundamentals of Beginning Wire Working, you ll advance to wire wrapped loops. This class covers wiring teardrop and briolette shapes, and making a bail for a larger stone or pendant. Saturday, July 27th 2-5pm Sunday, August 11th Friday, September 13th Wire Wrapping Refresher - $20 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Previous Wire Wrapping Experience This two hour quickie class is for those who have previously taken a wire wrapping class and have either forgotten or don t feel confident with their skills. In this class students will refresh basic wire wrap technique as well as top-drilled briolette, teardrop and pendant wraps. Friday, August 16th 6-8pm WIRE III - ADVANCED WIRE WORKING - $45 6 NEW SKILLS Instructor: Christina Level: Advanced Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent In this class you will utilize all of your wire skills and build new ones, including forming, bending, braiding, twisting and coiling. We will cover working with heavier gauges of wire, texturing techniques, hammers, jigs, files, mandrels and other wire working tools. You ll begin work on an advanced project of your choice, utilizing your new skills. Feel free to bring any unfinished wire projects that have you stumped or wire design problems you need help with. 11 Wire Working Easiest Earwires in the universe - $20 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire I or Equivalent Ear hooks are one of the most often used findings and one of the simplest to make You ll be amazed at how easy and inexpensive it is to create a variety of custom ear wires. In class students will learn to use hammers, mandrels and files and create as many ear wires as time allows. Friday, July 26th 6-8pm Sunday, August 4th 3:30-5:30pm Potato Chip Earrings - $40 Instructor: Christina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent (must be comfortable wire wrapping) Create these fashionable, fun earrings using your prior wire wrapping experience, pre-cut metal blanks and a few simple hand tools. This easy earring lends itself to many variations with the addition of beads, different metal shapes and fiber. Saturay, August 17th Wire Wrapped Cabochons - $40 Instructor: Andrea Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent This class will teach you one basic technique to wire wrap a frame around an undrilled cabochon using square and half round wire to create a beautiful pendant. Sunday, September 8th 10:30-2:30pm BOHO BEADED TEARDROP EARRINGS- $25 Instructor: Andrea Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent This intermediate class will walk you through the steps to make a pair of trendy bohemian style teardrop shaped wire wrapped earrings. With a decorative flourish and a sparkling beaded fringe on the bottom, these earrings are sure to turn heads. Saturday, August 10th 2-5pm CRYSTAL WRAPPED SPIRAL EARRINGS - $25 Instructor: Andrea Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent In this intermediate project class, you will learn how to make a fun pair of spiral earrings framed and wrapped in crystal beads. Once you learn the basic technique for these earrings, the variations and color combinations are endless. Saturday, July 27th ORNATE WIRE WRAPPED DONUTS - $40 Instructor: Andrea Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Wire II or equivalent Not sure what to do with all the pretty gemstone and glass donut components you have in your supply stash? This wire wrapping project class will teach you a way to surround your donut in an ornate fringe of wire, crystals, and metal beads. Sunday, August 25th 10:30-3:30pm

12 CHAINMAILLE 101- $25 Instructor: Michael Level: Any Prerequisite: None Chainmaille 101 will introduce you to chainmaille and the basic techniques required to use metal rings to create flowing metal chains for bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more. In this class you will learn how to smoothly and consistently open and close jump rings, and apply that technique to create a bracelet in the classic Byzantine chainmaille weave. We will also talk about tools and various metals that can be used to create chainmaille, and give you details about how to create larger and smaller versions of Byzantine chain. Sunday, July 20th Saturday, September 7th Sunday, September 29th Half Persian Chain - $30 Instructor: Michael Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Chainmaille 101 This is a versatile weave for bracelets, necklaces, key chains, and a whole lot more. And it can be made in a variety of sizes for men and women. In this class you will learn to make a Half-Persian 4-1 bracelet using anodized aluminum to create a two-tone chain. Saturday, September 21st Chainmaille CHAINMAILLE EARRING DUO- $25 Instructor: Trina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Chainmaille 101 Chainmaille doesn t have to be flat! In this class you will make two very different earrings, both wonderful examples of the many shapes you can create with different chainmaille weaves. First, the Knot Earring, a classic shape, perfect for everyday wear and for showing off mixed metals. Second, a creative dimensional earring I call a Hot Air Balloon, perfect to decorate. Sunday, September 15th BYZANTINE: BEYOND THE BASICS- $25 Instructor: Trina Level: Intermediate Prerequisite: Chainmaille 101 Byzantine is often our first chainmaille weave. It is also one of the most versatile. In this class, you will learn how to make Byzantine Rose earrings, a Romanov Pendant and a Flat Byzantine Bracelet. We will also discuss how to take each of these projects and make them into several other finished pieces (for example, the Byzantine Rose earrings make a great bracelet). We ll discuss how to find the perfect size for a Byzantine weave, and some great tips and tricks for working with jump rings. Sunday, September 15th 2:30-5:30pm PRIVATE INSTRUCTION Unable to fit a particular class into your schedule? Don t see the class you re looking for? Prefer to learn in a private setting? Private instruction is now available for those who require more flexibility in scheduling. If you prefer to learn one-on-one, want to focus on a particular skill or technique, or enjoy a special class for just friends/family, Beadworld instructors are happy to schedule private or semi-private classes at your convenience. Could your office team use some off-site bonding? Beadworld has just what you re looking for! Host your next gathering at Beadworld. For $20 a person (plus cost of beads) you and your group will get 3 hours of fun! Choose what you would like to make and we ll help you with the rest. You will be guided through color choices, design and construction, and finish with a great new piece of jewelry. Although we don t have a suggested bead budget for adult gatherings, we recommend you have a bead budget per person to keep costs under control. The staff will help everyone stay within the designated budget. Feel free to bring treats and/or drink, but be sure to let the staff know so that party activities can be planned accordingly.
