October 25, 26 and 27, 2016 Venue: General campus, Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM) Mexico, City Background The International Workshop-Seminar is part of a process of research and work on the design and use of social accounting matrices and computable general equilibrium models, which have been developed from the continuing and growing need to estimate information from several sectors and different geographical areas, to support decision-makers in the evaluation and generation of both public and private policies. Objectives The workshop s objective is to have a practical insight of the social accounting matrices and computable general equilibrium models, from real data. The seminar has the objective of presenting the state of the art and share experiences about the different designs and uses of social accounting matrices and computable general equilibrium models. Development The activity will comprise two parts; firstly, a workshop on design and construction of social accounting matrices and computable general equilibrium models. The workshop will be dedicated to people from the academy and public institutions that generate and use official indicators. The workshop will take place in 10 hours, during one and a half days. The second part will be develop as a seminar, with keynote speakers and panelist, generating discussion and exchange of ideas, offering the possibility to learn about the scope, advantages and disadvantages of these analytic tools. Moderators are expected to play an active role, promoting the debate and synthesizing some of the main issues discussed in each panel. 1
