2 Language and Literature: English Overview Grade 6 Objectives: ATL skills Content Assessment Outcomes English Foundations Systems Purpose, Style, Structure Personal and Communicators use structures to organise and express ideas. Students share cultural texts they think are funny. /To understand the messages in comic texts, audiences call on their understandings of cultures and identities...perspective on what's funny is embedded in culture and personal experience/.. They apply these teachniques to their own writing and oral performances. Possible Additional Unit: Your cultural practice, my issue Systems Purpose; Persuasion; Ethics Globalisation and Sustainability Each personal, local and global practice is part of a system which has far reaching impact. A; B Reflection Local and world issues/ contemporary delemmas ie use of fossil fuels, animal farming, stem cell research, cloning, impact of large corporations eg Cococola, Macdonalds, Shell Petrolium. Source materials include video and print media, non-fiction reports and books about contemporary issues.
